[PGT] Vancouver Canucks at Los Angeles Kings | Mar. 18, 2023

Balanced in everyone has a role. We need reliable stay at home defencemen, as much as we need offence. We need two way forwards, and checking centres who can win face offs. We need a reliable starter, we also need a reliable backup, who can fill in the starters role if something happens. In short. We need depth at EVERY position. -

Pretty sure Benning didn't ask. What do you think of this trade? It was more like. Daniel, Hank what's your opinion of OEL? Pretty certain the Sedin's didn't come up with the trade. That was all on Benning. And it was proof that Benning was looking at short term answers instead of seeing the end goal. -

That's the difference between being an ex-player and an executive. An Ex-player sees what they saw on the ice. An Executive looks at it objectively, and at all the angles, including salary. If OEL was making $2 million a season probably no one would be complaining. That's part of the learning curve from being a former player, to ones that have to see the big picture. -

My concern is. Can Ric Toc get the same results over a full season? Or is this once again, a bump because of a coaching change? It's no argument that the Canucks have some good pieces. A lot of us thought last season the players were finally understanding under Bruce. I think Gonchar and Foote are tremendous assets, and having a structure and getting the players to work together as a unit is going in the right direction. I still think the Canucks are no where near "close" to competing. That they need a lot of help especially on defence. -

For all those saying the Canucks are in mediocrity. How is it different from Toronto? Who dominates in the regular season year after year. And lose in the first round in the playoffs year after year. All the while throwing away draft picks in a vain attempt at trying to win a round. I would hope if Vancouver lost in the first round 3 years in a row, management would see there's something wrong and that changes have to be made. -

That's a great point. Outside of Demko, Kuz, Petey, Miller, and Hughes, with few exceptions. The rest are fighting for jobs or trying to keep thier jobs in the NHL. Kind of hard to ease up when your livelyhood is at stake. -

Next season LA better hope we don't get better, I'm sure we wouldn't be a team they want to face in the first round. Provided we can improve that much. -
