[Report/Rumour] Elias Pettersson Contract Talks

Then all the Canadian teams should just move to the States, and that means California and NY based teams will never win because their state taxes are higher than Texas and Florida. -

I don't understand what the stink is about rebuilding? If Winnipeg, Vancouver, and San Jose admitted it's going in a new direction. At least the fans know that the GM's know this is not a retool, but a rebuild. I suppose saying you have good pieces to build around, and looking to move forward is a non-denial/denial and at least management knows it's got it's work cut out for it. I just worry it just delays the team rebuilding later on. -

Sorry I forgot it has to be their own picks. But I'm illustrating having cap space helps the team in flexibility. -

[Report/Rumour] Elias Pettersson Contract Talks

Here's another concern. All it would take is the Coyotes to offer sheet $3 million a year to Bear, Podz and Hoglander. The Canucks might match on Podz, but Bear and Hogs would be gone. Now we'd have 2 more second round draft picks in 2024. Would this happen? Probably not. But it illustrates the danger of NOT having cap space. Not to "weaponize" it. But to be able to prevent teams from plundering. We saw what would happen if Demko goes down with injury. We'd need to find a suitable backup in that case. And to throw Silovs to the wolves would not be good. Having $4-5 Million in cap space is a good thing. It gives the Canucks something they have not had in about 3-4 years. Flexibility. -
Speaking of Aimee Mann....

Brule was sidetracked by a series of injuries wasn't he? There was also the issue that he had a fractured relationship with his father, and he mishandled his money. (Gilbert thinks so, his Dad says he didn't.) He saw a therapist as he was depressed from breaking his leg, and his issues with his Dad when he was with the Oilers. They put him on medication. Which he had to break free from. He had a decent career in the KHL. It's really sad to see. http://www.theprovince.com/sports/hockey/canucks-hockey/resurrection%2BGilbert%2BBrule/8668967/story.html Of course this is all from Cryptkeeper, so take it with a grain of salt.

Anyone wondering if the the real reason the NHL is dragging this out, is to get Quebec or Hartford in play to move the Sens? https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/connecticut-governor-has-group-interested-in-buying-coyotes-moving-team-to-hartford/ -

Psst. Not sure if you've noticed. Vancouver has a cap issue as well. -
Maybe he will drop to 11?

Coyotes lose vote for new arena - future unclear

https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/connecticut-governor-has-group-interested-in-buying-coyotes-moving-team-to-hartford/ I'm starting to get the feeling the reason why the Ottawa ownership bid is taking so long, is the league is probably secretly trying to get new ownership to move to Quebec City or Hartford. -
Anyone else thinking Chevy is probably going to be gone sooner rather than later? For years there's been whispers of divisions in the room. Now two of the better players in Winnipeg want out. And he's standing by his "we're not rebuilding" mantra. He lost a great coach who is in the Stanley Cup finals. I think Winnipeg has to rebuild or do a massive overhaul.
