      One piece of advice from someone that's going through a lot with a dog right now (unless you're wealthy and money isn't an issue)... either get pet insurance or set up some side account with your bank and put away at least $50 a month for just in case.  Vets are expensive.

      ^ good advice. We found PetSecure to be decent, they do pay out what they say they will and have for us over the years, including a major knee surgery for our lab. It doesn't cover everything but it helps.

      We have 6 weeks free from the vet but we decided that were just gonna put money into an account.
