  1. He would be coming here knowing that crap ain't gonna fly. People need to have some confidence in Trevor and JB here until proven otherwise.
  2. Don't always agree with you Deniro but do here. I don't get the downside to this move pending term isn't more than 3 years (I for one want 2 with a big more on avg. salary). I dont want Andrew Raycroft 2.0 with Lack.
  3. Your first statement about the Sedins needing youth is crap. I'm sorry and not trying to be an ass but it's total BS and was when Torts said it too. The Sedins play a very specific game and it's no coincidence that vets like Carter, Pyatt and Burrows meshed well with them while Raymond, Hansen and others have failed when given the chance. Iginla would be a beast with the Sedins and quite frankly with the lack of upper level talent elsewhere upfront the Sedins should be the only place he plays. His numbers suffered late in his time with Calgary because there wasn't talent around him and when he got to Boston and played with very good players he performed extremely well last year. Accordingly, he shouldn't be anywhere than the top line with the Sedins and if he isn't his production will suffer greatly.
  4. Agreed. People need to realize that having a veteran power forward like Jarome to mentor a player like Kassian may be worth the money and then some in the future. There's benefits to this that are well past the on ice performance. After not being sure for a while since hearing these rumors I'm for it now.
  5. I wouldn't take Heatley if he paid the organization 5 mil over those 2 years.
  6. Farhan just tweeted he expected Canucks to make a strong push tomorrow and expects relationship with Linden and Benning to be a factor. He can still play but he played with really good players this past year. I'm not sure he fits here unless it's on the top line with the Sedins.
  7. You make some faily compelling points with facts to back them up so I give you credit for your effort in research and I wish more posters on here would use this tactic in arguing so props to you. There are things that have to be looked at outside numbers though to determine performance and I for one do not think average and Ryan Miller fit together. He has been an upper echelon netminder for a lot of his career and I think most "experts" would agree. Is he that now? Probably not. Can he play a very specific role here in VAN and be a very good stop gap in allowing Lack to ease into the #1 role??! I beleive so. I think with the smoke around the story him signing now is likely and my concern is term. More than 2 years and I dont much like it. I dont mind the Canucks being garbage for a few years and developing their young players, but Im not sure that applies here. 1) Proven cases as to what rushing a young goaltender can end up (thinking Andrew Raycroft) and I am sure the Canucks dont want that to Lack, who still needs time to become a 65 game per year #1 goalie. 2) Even with a possibly young forward corp made up of Jensen, Vey, Kassian, Horvat, Matthias, Bonino, and down the line Shinkaruk, Virtanen, and Gaunce, steady veteran goaltending can ease that curve and keeping a young team in games every night is critical.
  8. If he doesnt then the trade was a waste and they should've just taken the fast slipping 18 year old D that everyone on here wanted who according to the CDC scouts will be the next big thing in the NHL. With his history with Willie, I bet he gets a chance to set up and play with Bonino, who has proven he can finish.
  9. People need to stop putting Vey as a 4th liner only because there isnt anywhere else to fit him. Look at his AHL numbers and tell me that he was brought in here to play 4th line minutes. Please. He's a scorer and needs to be given the chance to score in order to justify the deal. He will be in the top 9, if not top 6.
  10. His 09-10 campaign was far from average. Has his play declined? Sure...As expected from an aging goaltender with a lot of miles on his tires. Can he still play a solid net and keep teams in games, giving them a chance to win and taking up 50 games, allowing a young netminder to ease into a #1 role instead of being forced into it?? I assume so and I guess that is why the Canucks management is interested.
  11. MacLean is a moron... There is a small market (as most times) with goaltending and his desire (as reported) to play on the West Coast makes the market even smaller, especially with ANA and SJ reportedly not interested. Canucks need to start at 2 years with a higher avg. salary in hopes that entices him enough to not add on the extra year. Thats why I said 2 for 12. Cap number isnt a big deal when talking short term contracts and especially on a team that wants to incorporate a lot of younger and as a result cheaper players. I believe Miller can still play and his year before his stint in STL shows that. He was fantastic wil BUF on an awful team. We will see soon peeps.
  12. Had a .923 save percentage on a TERRIBLE BUF team and then struggled on a drastically better defensive team in STL. I wonder if Miller is a volume goaltender who reacts better to the more pucks he sees.
  13. What stud dman would you like that is available??? Overpay on annuall salary to take down term. He is a stop gap that allows Lack to still get used to playing as a full-time guy and how to be a professional while still being competitive, the direction of the front office per what they've said. Personally I would want a 1 year deal but dont think Miller takes it and I stated my offer based on liklihood of this actually happening and the likely price it would take.
  14. Cammy makes more sense but I wonder if the likely term committments with a team that wants to soon incorporate young forwards like Shinkaruk, Horvat, Virtanen and even now with Vey and Jensen scares the Canucks.
  15. I don't know $hit about this kid outside what I've read but you don't score as much as he did and get ranked as high as he was in skating without having skill or being a slow pylon like Pyatt or Bernier.
  16. Guess you should be working in an NHL front office. Can we all agree we won't know $hit about this for 3-4 years at best??!
  17. The NHL comp with Ritchie is Rick Nash. So...He will disappear when the game matters most. Sorry...couldn't resist.
  18. From what I have read he's Evander Kane and I'm not sure JB wants that headache to start his tenure.
  19. Uh...Grabner has been really good when given ice time on Long Island and Jensen was really good in his shot last year. That and he's a completely different style player than those 2. Good comp though.
  20. Beach was a head case with massive attitude issues so help me understand the comparison please??!
  21. Can everyone on both sides just calm the F down?!! NOBODY knows exactly what they have with any pick they make so give your opinions, shut the hell up and wait and see how he performs. Afterward you can rip or compliment accordingly. All I know is I like that he was ranked 1 in physicality and in skating. It can't be that horrid if that pans out as ranked.
