I emailed my rep and asked to get auto renewal turn off …

    this is what she said

Please note that in turning off your auto renewal, you will not get notified when we go out during our renewal process. If anything changes in terms of renewing, please reach out!”

What does that even mean? LOL of course they are going to "notify" you. They will be emailing you begging you to renew.

I’m most likely not renewing either …. Team has no direction, if I wanna attend a game I’ll just buy on the secondary market the day of the game for way below cost

Honestly, I am starting to think this is exactly what the canucks want. Every action they take indicates this.

Season tickets were created before internet and before online sales. The only way to buy tickets last minute (same day) was at the box office downtown. So pre-selling a large majority of tickets was the way to go.

The Canucks want to take out the middleman.

    Currently, you have:

    Canucks > STH > Stubhub > Fan

They probably want it to simply be:

    Canucks > Fan

Of course, they probably won't pass the savings along to the fan, they will take the middleman cut for themselves.

So yeah, I think they want people to give up ST's or at least they aren't going to be bothered trying to keep them. Plus STH's cost them money in the form of perks and customer reps and so forth. I wouldn't be surprised if some organizations start to get rid of season tickets entirely.

100% it was called the summer summit and it was ONLY when TL was the president of hockey operations and the spokesperson that was that line of communication between the STH’s and the FO. Since Linden left in 2018 we have not had one. Imagine having five years of not having a proper gateway/gathering of sharing what the blueprint is. I’m sure many STH’s have questions to ask management & ownership as to what the hell are we doing? Other then desperately trying to make the playoffs, but not good enough to contend. It’s a sick and twisted marathon of Groundhog Day.

I remember Trevor Linden getting up and answering everyone's questions with true honesty and empathy. He really cared. And people crapped on him for it. When he resigned people celebrated. I can't blame him for quitting from the organization. Linden's legacy will forever be tied to Jim Benning.

I am not surprised.  I complain about the chaos in the concourse every time they send me a survey but I'm sure they don't even look at those.   I even say I would buy more beer if I could get through the concession stand and to and from the bathroom quicker, thinking that might be a good reason to do something... but nothing ever changes.

It's been like this since it was built. I don't think there's anything they can do to fix it. When they added on the condos and expanded the concourse they thought it would alleviate some of the issues but it hasn't. Problem is they had to build Rogers arena sandwiched between the viaducts and so it has the narrowest concourse probably of any arena in the NHL. I feel like their response is kind of like... "Well if you don't like it, then get club seats". I've been to the Oilers new arena and my god, it is beautiful. So much better then our arena. Oh well. We aren't getting a new arena for another 40 years probably so gotta suck it up.

  5. If I had any reservations about giving up my season tickets after almost a decade, they are gone now. I went to my first game tonight in a while. I went with some friends for diwali. We all tried to be excited but yeah, when those 2 goals went in early 3rd, a lot of people weren't even in their seats. That shut the arena down. I have never heard it so quiet in there. When the horn sounded there were a lot of boos. No one was in the canucks store when I went by, it was so dead compared to normal. Just the atmosphere was sucky. I looked at prices online and they are way lower than STH cost. How do the canucks organization expect people to remain ticket holders especially in this economic environment? I think a lot of people will be dumping season tickets at the end of this year.

  6. I feel bad for ya'll. I saw this coming and I am glad I bailed last year. Things got way worse than I thought though. Poor treatment of STH's. Plus, trying to resell tickets is only going to get worse. All the ticket resale sites (stubhub, ticketmaster, etc) are going to keep increasing fees to increase profits. They will squeeze every last dime out of ticket sellers. Dark times for this organization for sure. This will be the 6th year out of 7 years they missed the playoffs. And the only year they made it was the shortened covid year without fans in attendance. The last time fans were in attendance to see the Canucks win a playoff series was back in 2011 when Kevin Bieksa scored and we beat San Jose in Round 3. That's 11 years. This year was abysmal and not exciting at all. I struggled to even watch most games. And now you guys say management is cutting perks... they should be offering more perks! I kind of get the feeling the Canucks don't really care about STH's anymore and would almost rather just sell direct to the public.

Anyone hear anything about what special hoopla they are having for the game tonight??  Usually we get an email saying Hey you get a free hotdog, a free can of lousy beer... something.  I've heard crickets so far.

This year's home game opener includes free covid butthole checks at the entry gate.

  8. Wow. Tickets for Toronto Maple Leafs are not doing well. They just sent out an email to the waiting list offering half season tickets starting at $1800 a pack for 18 games. Never seen that before!!! I guess they figure they won't be able to sell the tickets at full price and are wanting to dump them ASAP. Not much confidence in their team. Remember when Canucks tickets used to be 100% sold out for the entire season on the day they were released?

Does anyone know if our old voucher is still valid as well? I never had a chance to use mine before they cancelled the end of the season in 2020.

No it’s not valid anymore…. My friend tried using his the other day and it didn’t work

That's brutal. I used up all my vouchers back in March and it worked. I used them on the canucks marketplace. They all worked for me. I guess they discontinued them all?

Frankly I don't believe them( membership .) there are if I assess the situation correct, many who have credits from last season ( remaning from lost games ) who likely haven't made up their minds. I too spoke to membership and they gave me the same story, couldn't be better, this doesn't match with the general opinion floating around the city, mostly negative

Not to mention Canucks fired like... a huge amount of their staff.

  11. Am I still allowed to post here even though I gave up my tickets? :sadno:

I hope there is demand this year. I wouldn't feel bitter. Part of me thinks with Seattle coming in and covid ending it could be a really awesome year. Canucks could go deep and rejuvinate the hockey spirit in the city. They are due.

I honestly just don't have time to go to that many games though and I don't have time to sell tickets. It took a lot of effort to sell tickets the last few years. Even on stubhub it took hours of uploading and stuff. Also stubhub is an awful company and I hated dealing with them.

Doesn’t block chain allow the tracking of all transactions associated with the bit coin being transacted? It should allow CRA and IRS to force compliance.

You can track all transactions but that doesn't help if you don't know who the bitcoin accounts belong to. Anyone can sign up for a bitcoin account and begin trading bitcoin wtih no ID and using a VPN. It is entirely anonymous. Imagine being able to open a canadian bank account with no ID or address or even your name.

Do you think crypto + blockchain gives government a better option to track money (bitcoin)? No more hockey bags full of cash into casinos in Vancouver if block chain tells you where it came from and who owns it. So many crypto options that I question the store of value when there is no restriction to entrants. The full impact of block chain is just beginning to be realized.

Yeah but that bag of cash had to be laundered somehow which meant taxes. The IRS/CRA are happy to collect taxes on illegal profits. Imagine if bitcoin became an accepted payment method for real estate transactions. I am sure the criminals are much happier with bitcoin than carrying around bags of cash. You can't carry a bag of cash on a plane or cross borders with it, but you can easily carry bitcoin anywhere. Bitcoin is loved by criminals.

If BTC fails to catch on, he can say that he was experimenting with something for the future.

Should BTC revolutionizes things... he will appear as a genius for being a relatively early adopter.

Plus after he bought bitcoin and announced it, the stock price went way up. So immediately he is in the green. It's like what Warren Buffet does (except he does it much more legally in news announcements). Or like when Oprah bought a ton of weight watchers stock then said she loved bread then sold it all off for a huge profit. The rich get richer. That money came from somewhere. Every dollar Elon makes is a dollar someone else lost.
