  1. I guess it could be said but I wouldn't really say that Schroeder is much like BMO and none of the wingers are anything like Naslund. We're set to have a kid line in a few years that's got great potential to do amazing things for years to come. No need to make comparisons to our former players.
  2. Could someone please clear something up for me? I've spent a reasonable amount of time going through the proposals section recently and in a lot of them I'm seeing Jordan's name on the way out. Why is that? Why are so many people interested in seeing him go? In my eye, we have a player who is extremely driven and even more talented. He's a bit short but talented and powerful enough to overcome that. He's really starting to make a name for himself on the farm and will more than likely get the next call up if any of our top six goes down. That isn't the sort of player I would want to give up. These same people who are more than willing to give him up would likely hate to give up a 1st rounder. Schroeder is about as good a prospect as you can hope for in a late first round choice. Why throw him away in favour of a gamble? I just don't get it....
  3. If he's training with Parise in the off season again, you can bet on the fact that he's dead set on making the team this coming season especially if he continues the kind of play he's got going on now. Is there a spot for him? We'll have to see. If Raymond (or whoever) does get traded for a rental though, there's a spot right there. I'd love to see him be the one to fill it.
  4. That depends on how optimistic you are. The same could be said of all prospects though, I suppose. He was drafted in the second round and was almost set to be our first round draft pick had situations been different. He is a skilled player and if you choose to be optimistic then it is entirely possible for him to factor in to our top 6 somewhere down the line. He is also said to have a good work ethic and is solid in his own end. In my eye, he represents the best chance of any of our prospects to make the NHL just because of the diversity in the roles which he could potentially fill. How long? That's hard to say. This is a transitional year - his first in North America. I believe that it won't be until next year that we really see the type of player we have in him. We have a good team and will still have a good team a few years from now. It'll be hard for him to crack the roster. Let's hope he does it all the same.
  5. I was aware of this but by the time he actually became Canucks property they weren't exactly heralding this guy as the next Joe Thorton. On a related note though, both are doing pretty well for themselves in the ECHL, putting up about .75 PPG between the two of them. I'm actually quite pleased by this. Here's hoping they can build off this and actually be consistent plays for the Wolves next year. I could actually see Archibald getting some call ups this year, even. Very encouraging
  6. So touted by whom exactly? An undrafted player and a 7th rounder don't often come in with extremely high expectations. I think you're mistaking optimism for expectations. In saying that, I still have faith that at least one of them will turn out. I personally actually have more faith in Anthony than Archibald but that's just gut feeling as much as anything
  7. That's quite the optimistic future you have there. I'm not even sure it's that, really. How far into the future is this? Where did the current top six go? Do you know something I don't? Is something going to happen to them?
  8. haha You and me both, friend. Just being realistic though.
  9. I really don't mind the signing of Archibald, Anthony or Erixon. Archibald and Anthony are both huge competitors and Anthony has shown that he's willing to change his game in order to continue progressing. Erixon in preseason at least seemed extremely calm and reliable. I see him as a dark horse to make the team next year especially is Salo retires. The Schneider signing I'd definitely agree with you though. There are oodles of players who can fill bottom six roles for minimal money. I don't see why we need to get a project who MIGHT fill that role at some point. Tochkin as well was someone I never really had too much faith in.... That all being said, having more young players developing is never a bad thing. As Burrows can tell you, a great work ethic can get you places. Let's just hope these guys will all show us that they're ready and willing to do what it takes.
  10. Why would he play in the tourney but not go through the prospects camp?
  11. Archibald has. You wouldn't be talking about him if it wasn't for his signing with us
  12. This. It basically comes down to how much work Archibald is willing to do. He has the genetics to be something special... we're just going to have to see what he makes of himself.
