  1. I think they need to find that extra forward who can help them counter against the easier matchups they'll face, but not be a liability if that line gets out against tough competition. I really liked how Burrows played with Horvat during some of the limited time they've had together and wouldn't mind that at all... ...Or this, where if Kassian is willing to play ball, then he could match very well. One thing with Kassian is he seems to change how he plays sometimes based on what linemates he has. If he gets put with the Sedins, he tries to cycle with them along the boards and play a 'pretty' game. Put him with plugs and he reverts to the baser instincts of violence. I think he'd match well with Kenins and Horvat where they'd be hard on the forecheck and using their speed to breakout and drive to the net. Have them out there for high intensity 20-30 second shifts and that would be a lot to handle for any line
  2. Yeah, definitely was Jack on the graphic. You'd hope your staff would know your team's most recent top pick.
  3. Yup, probably shows the controversy more.
  4. If you want to look at the stat sheet, you could say that, but he's been lauded somewhat for his overall play. I believe there's a quote from the Comets GM earlier in the thread about his play and how they feel he's done a great job contributing in his first year as a pro. EDIT: it's from earlier in the season but I've seen similar comments about his play.
  5. I like Draisaitl a lot, and was one of my favourites outside of Ekblad and Reinhart. If Draisaitl had made it to 6th, I would have had no issue picking him and then using the second 1st rounder on someone like Pastrnak (who I also liked later in that round but didn't think he'd be so effective so soon considering his size). I like Virtanen too, I just wondered if he was the right pick for us given the draft position and team need. He and McCann do give a bit more of an edge, but the combination I mentioned previous would look pretty great in hindsight as well.
  6. If London's still playing once the Canucks are done, Horvat can't be sent to Utica. He'd have to go to London in that case, but I'm not sure they'd send him back for that. But it is good to see Horvat not just playing/working hard, but also having some impact. Let him keep doing what he's doing and it'll come naturally. He's already getting different linemates often enough so he doesn't so much need to be moved up and down the lineup, although he might get some increased opportunity during games.
  7. Hutton's season last year was pretty impressive, so I don't know if I'd go that far. They play a similar style but I think Hutton has a better all around game. McNally is having the better year this year though.
  8. Looks like TSN2 is showing a few of the college games at the start of February, including Notre Dame vs Maine at 4pm PT on Feb 6.
  9. Looks like TSN2 is showing a few of the college games at the start of February, including Boston College vs Northeastern at 2pm PT on Feb 2.
  10. I'm not sure what we could get for Weber, but if any of the contenders (hell, anyone actually) pays good value for him at the deadline I'd be in.
  11. I don't see Forsling as a puck mover so much, and I wonder if we can keep Sanguinetti without having to play him in the NHL. But fair points as well just in case.
  12. All three (Pedan being the other) are lefties, so someone would have to be comfortable playing the right side.
  13. I wonder if he's finding some of his form from last season offensively as the season progresses. He certainly had a slow start, but after the great year he had last year I'd hope he can put that together with more responsible play even when playing on a team with challenges to a reasonable extent. Can't wait to see if he can translate his game to the pros.
  14. Pretty easy to fact check if you so desired... NHL.com and all that, you know.
  15. Interesting. If we could somehow bump that up to Morin instead of Hagg I'd think about it.
  16. I'd think there was some interest but some teams were handcuffed with their current rosters to the point where he wasn't a sure bet over who they already had as a backup. I didn't hear it but sometimes they talk like things are a fact but are actually their opinion. I'd lean to opinion rather than them hearing it directly from Markstrom verbatim. Couldn't find anything to support the statement so I don't really know what was said exactly.
  17. Figured I'd give this a bump after a little bit of talk about possible trades today: Nashville hasn't had a win without Rinne in net (or they hadn't before he went down injured) so that makes sense. The Flyers always want something, and there's some uncertainty in goal but I don't see that quite as much. New Jersey and Buffalo have been suggested on CDC as well so it's something to think about.
  18. My doctor told me I was crazy like a fox, except he kept saying I had to drop the 'like a fox' part...
  19. But his point is pretty simple too. The only people that are forgetting about Gaunce (or any other prospect that isn't the hot topic) is because they only casually follow our prospects at best.
  20. Who now? Or perhaps they could funnel this all in one big gulp into a more specific discussion.
