  1. I can totally see how this is going to play out based on how things have played out with Bo. JR: "We see Elias as an RNH level player." Then promptly offers 5.125 mil x 8 years, which gets rejected. JR gets pissed that his offer got rejected and out of spite signs Kuzmenko to 9 million dollars x 8 years. CDC erupts. The season begins. Petey goes on a tear to start the season. Scores 20 goals and 50 points in 30 games. JR panics offers 8.5 mil x 8 years. Pettersson rejects the offer. Dahliwal mis-reports the latest offer was for 10 mil for 8 years, which was rejected by EP. Pettersson releases a statement that he does not wish to answer any questions about contract negotiations. Season ends. Pettersson scores 45 goals and 110 points. He accepts the qualifying offer in 2024 with the goal of becoming a UFA in 2025. CDC erupts.
  2. I would agree that Provorov would be a good get for Horvat. Philly would want extension in place. I think OEL would be on the third pairing. Not a smart use of the cap but I'm not sure how we can move OEL's contract without giving up draft capital. Moving Myers would be easier. Hughes-Bear Provorov-Dermott OEL-Schenn I'd be fine with rolling that defence out for the time being until we draft/sign/draft a top 2RD.
  3. He's better than Garland. Much better skater at least and can get to more dangerous parts of the ice whereas Garland is mostly on the perimeter. We do need a defensive 3C, I agree with that. EP-Barzal-3C-Aman
  4. Petey is our elite two way guy. Although he needs to improve on the dot before he becomes truly elite. We can unleash Barzal to focus more on the offensive side of the game. Barzal is an upgrade over Horvat when it comes to driving offence although Bo is definitely the better goal scorer (and he is more clutch). Miller-Barzal-Garland Mik-Petey-Boeser* Hogs-Studnicka-Lazar Joshua-Aman-Podz Assuming Kuz is also traded because we can't come to an agreement.
  5. Why not Barzal? I would trade Bo for Barzal. Petey-Barzal for the next 10 years sounds like a good idea?
  6. True. But if a team has an expiring contract that they want to get rid of, it could work out sooner. Almost every team has one of those contracts, even the contenders. I don't think the management has the green light to trade Bo for futures anyways. The owner probably wants to make the trade only if they are for sure out of the playoff race by TDL. I saw Horvat for Konecny or Provorov on one of the article on the internet. That might be the type of trade they end up doing. If the deal can be made, I think the best trade partner is Colorado. Horvat for Byram + 1st or a former 1st round pick drafted between 2020-2022. Byram, if healthy, will be a better player than Bo.
  7. In my opinion, getting the word out that they view Horvat as RNH level player was the end of any good will Bo had and his desire to sign a reasonable contract. RNH is a great player too but that must have mad him feel unappreciated considering that RNH took a discount from his previous deal. And players are proud, they don't like having their ceiling decided by others (well, unless that ceiling is a legendary player -- then they feel humbled). Every negotiation must be approached differently with consideration of the person sitting on the other side of the table. The fact that they misjudged Bo's character and babbled things to public was a bad idea. I think Horvat was probably looking for 7 mil x 8 years and he would have signed at or around that number if they approached this in the right way. Anyhow, we are likely moving on unless JR and PA all of a sudden change course yet again and decides to overpay for Horvat. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if they come out tomorrow and announce re-signing Bo for 8.5 mil x 8 year deal; that's how little trust I have on them at this point.
  8. For Brock's current contract? I'd do it too. My guess is that he won't take that offer. I hope he does though.
  9. Yes. But we are fans. We like discussing this sort of things ahead of time.
  10. He was a center in New Jersey but had horrible face off percentages. He was not used as one in Tampa and not used as a center in Calgary. Go look at his faceoff stats: https://www.nhl.com/stats/skaters?aggregate=0&report=faceoffwins&reportType=season&seasonFrom=20142015&seasonTo=20222023&gameType=2&playerSearch=Blake Coleman&filter=gamesPlayed,gte,1&sort=seasonId&page=0&pageSize=50. He took 9 faceoffs this season.
  11. Boeser's second contract was set up very unfavourably for the Canucks because it seemed like he was going to be a 40 goal scorer based off of the first two seasons. We were forced to pay him 6.6 mil for 3 years because of how that contract was laid out. Now the management can't get rid of his contract. Player's performances depend on a lot of factors and except for those truly special ones that drive play, you don't want to overpay. IMO, the only play drivers on this team are Petey, Hughes, and Miller (only when he wants to).
  12. I don't know why he chose us but I'm thankful that he did. No one wants to trade him unconditionally (well except maybe the imaginary people in you mind). We are discussing a hypothetical scenario of if Kuz refuses to re-sign with us, what should we do?
  13. If we are out of the playoffs race then for sure yes, I agree. If we are in the race and the best offer is a 2nd rounder or a B prospect? I'd hold on.
  14. I don't doubt Kuz is a skilled player but I don't think he's a play driver on his own. Someone needs to feed him the puck. He's a better version of Boeser. We all forget how good Boeser was in his first season here. We shouldn't overpay players based on 1 season of work.
  15. Because he doesn't want to re-sign with us? If he re-signs, then we don't trade him. He could be paid quite handsomely if he hits the UFA market.
  16. It should be more than a 1st for sure. Anything lower means Allvin got robbed... which could happen I guess.
  17. Blake Coleman, a 20 goal scorer, got a 1st from Tampa in 2019-20, his salary was dirty cheap at that time like 1 mil? I think Kuz is worth at least a 1st + prospect.
  18. Yeah but he's a UFA after this season. All that Canucks can do is offer him a fair contract probably something between 5-7. If Kuzmenko rejects the offer, we have to trade him and get something for him. If he wants to get paid, then he will hit UFA unless the Canucks overpays.
  19. I don't think he should be fired for trading Bo if for the right return. If JR trades Bowie for Bowen (Byram) for example? Hughes and Byram could grow into one-two punch for the next 10 years. Having elite defencemen wins you championships. Hughes and Byram are the type of defencemen that will give you 50+ minutes of quality ice time in the playoffs.
  20. If Montreal fans can endure a rebuild, so can the Canucks fans. People constantly harp on the Vancouver fans for not willing to endure a rebuild, I'd say that's a total bs. After all, we've totally sucked the last 7 or so years and the building is still nearly full. If there is one person not willing to do a rebuild, that's the owner. He's afraid that fans won't show up if we suck but I think the fans would still show up. The team is entertaining to watch with some skilled players like Petey, Hughes, Kuz.
  21. I like Lundell. He'd could develop into a great two way centerman to play behind Petey. But I would not trade Hughes for him. If they are willing to take Miller, I'd do that. Florida is in a win now mode aren't they? Well, Miller is your win now player. I'm not quite sold on Carlo but I'll admit that I barely watch the Bruins play. He's big but is he actually good? If he's actually good, why is he playing 3rd pairing minutes in Boston?
  22. Is Bo on the same caliber as O'Reilly at the time of the trade?
  23. Apparently he took a lot of medicine that he now regrets taking to play through all the injuries caused by the way he played. I didn't like the way he left but I gotta admit that he gave all he had to the team. Wouldn't mind seeing him in the ring of honour beside Burr.
  24. Maybe the hockey god will finally answer our prayers.
  25. Let's see where Horvat goes and what he returns before we consider the Miller trade destinations.
