  1. davis would be a solid 5th.
  2. how do you figure? he's smaller, with less than half as many points, only an even +/- instead of a +19, and didn't impress me at all when i saw them play this past friday. I know one live game definitely doesn't make a season, so it may have been an off night, but from everything I've read, coupled with that personal experience, I don't see how he'd be the better bet.
  3. he has to clear waivers to be sent down. for players with NHL contracts they have to start in the NHL during training camp and then be assigned to the AHL (via waivers if they are waiver eligible)
  4. Juulsen as a RHD would be great. I was very impressed by him at the game last friday. if we get a late second or early 3rd via trade i'd be down to grab him for sure.
  5. markstrom most likely won't make it through waivers again next season like he did this season. unless he stinks it up (again) in his next NHL game that is. if he shows the lack of ability to perform in the NHL he might make it through again, but then again, would we want to keep him around at that point anyway?
  6. i imagine eriksson will get the leafs, markstrom needs to get his confidence back after that 4 shot stinker.
  7. it's the first we, as the general public, have heard this about him. We've heard this about McNally (which is why he slid too) but never about hutton. this information changes everything as far as expectations about him leaving goes. glad to hear it.
  8. I've never been happy when i've seen one... I have to assume they suck, but I have an open mind and am I'm willing to give it a try and see how it goes.
  9. parades are overrated anyway.
  10. it's not the first time it's been said in this thread...
  11. but but but, they arn't 6'4" so they HAVE to be undersized... right?
  12. lets put it this way, I guarantee we won't be putting him in the RoH or having a BB sticker on our helmets when he passes away.
  13. well, to be fair, he also rode kessel's trade value into the ground before he left for cgy too...
  14. utica plays the wolves today.
  15. that's a whole lot of speed skill and youth on one line. virtanen and horvat also both offer a physical side to their game (virtanen more so than horvat) i think it would take a couple of years before we'd see that combo though. they all need more experience before you toss them together.
  16. might as well give it a try. no better time than that.
  17. To be eligible for the award, a player cannot have played any more than 25 games previously in any single season, nor have played in more than six games in each of two separate preceding seasons in any major professional league. Sven has broken BOTH of those barriers.
  18. it could go either way at this point, as maine started to turn it around mid season after their plethora of greenhorns started to acclimate to the new league they entered. it might have been enough for Hutton to think there may be something special and worth sticking around for next season... which kinda sucks, because if they had continued their suckage down the stretch it would have been an instant decision and he'd probably already be in utica.
  19. yeah, their season is done. hopefully he chooses to leave and signs soon. If I'm benning I'm calling him today to talk about his future.
  20. it was a hell of a pass with a hell of a finish.
  21. so you're willing to commit an egregious jersey foul because you like him so much?
  22. first shift double hatty or bust.
  23. only the first goal can be chalked up to the fault of a defender, the other 2 were entirely stoppable and clearly his fault. we don't need to try to make excuses for his play, it was horrible. what he needs to do is shake it off and regroup for his next game, whenever that may be (hopefully against a team in tank mode, which should be a confidence booster)
  24. I'd be surprised to see him get a single shutout at this point, never mind stringing them together. The first one was a horrible play/turnover by weber (surprise surprise), it would have been nice to see a save there, but it's certainly understandable that he didn't get that one. The second one, however, was completely his fault. He should have caught the initial shot (it went off his glove for fracks sake), then he fell down on his butt when panicking after he flubbed that shot, instead of dropping to his knees, then when he recovered he failed to cover the bottom of the net while reaching for the puck (that's a basic). he had plenty of opportunities to prevent that goal, and it should have been stopped. Then the third goal he basically passed it to couture with that fat juicy rebound right to his stick. it was a complete disappointment of a game. I'd give him the start against the tanking coyotes just to give him some confidence and see what happens. if he craps the bed again, then i don't think we'll have to worry about him clearing waivers next season when we send him down to utica again, and we certainly won't have to worry about what goalie we need to trade in this offseason.
  25. from the trade thread. that conclusion says it all.
