No offense, I hope, but since when is the AHL safe?

In know that the concern is for the health of Thatcher Demko and we all agree on that (I think?).

But I doubt management is going to mishandle Demko.

Through Thatcher himself, and Ian Clarke, Rick Tocchet, and Patrik Alvin, not to mention the elephant...they are going to do right things by Thatcher Demko.

    No offense taken,

I just think that players in the past coming back from a long injury sometimes hit the AHL to help get them game ready for NHL games.

For a goalie the speed of the game, east/west plays and shot quality is not the same so easier to transition.

As long as the elephant is watching him taking those little bites could be enough though! haha

Couple of practices for demko needed before start? I hope he starts vs the stars then as boston is the wrong game.

I would tank freeze for Boston as i detest them but demko would be super busy plus the ratfaced one or others wouldn't hesitate to injure him

Would rather see Demmer do a stint in Abby for a couple weeks and get a few games to be safe...

So besides Kuzmenko who are the other 4 guys

Have to think by some sloppy D play Stillman, OEL and then possibly Myers and Boeser even though he was bumped to the top line.

I like his explanation that if a player is off his game, just make sure you make the simple plays, stay in position, get pucks in deep and don't worry about your offensive game.

Hopefully by the end of the season they bring consistent play whether they win or lose.

If we get a top 5 pick , perfect

Alf said he's a poor defensive player. Ill disagree with that.

People quickly forget about the intangibles that Horvat offered including our #1 faceoff guy, won the majority of his boards battles easily, played PP1,  PK1 , PK2, always on the ice the final 2 minutes winning or losing, and was in the top 5 of Canucks all time best captains IMO.. Linden, Sedin, Smyl ahead of him

Have nothing but respect for this absolute class act, but glad we didn't commit 8.5M x 8 for him as we still have a good chance to do major surgery even with Miller signed.

If CDC were GM we would be screwed even more than we are now.

Yep, over the past 10 years we would have fired 8 coaches, 4 presidents, , 6 GMs, sold the team twice, forced the shutdown of CDC threads and sued all Canucks media, but we could have a 1st overall pick...:bigblush:

I don’t even think we could replace OEL with someone as good as him without spending more to get there with the buy out and their salary. We’d be lucky to get someone half as good for the same as his cap hit. It’s a dumb idea at this point. 8 years of dead cap is a non starter for me.

Yep, right now his value as our #1 defensive Dman and #2nd PP guy is worth 5m / year

Keeping him away from Myers ups his value to 5.5M+

A solid RD defensive guy like a younger Schenn with better wheels would really help both Hughes and OEL.

Living through the BS Luongo Cap recapture +++ just lost my appetite for a painful buyout so keeping him is the only option at least for 3 years and than see where we are.

Cool so we are the pats of the NHL. Superstar talent with a bunch of nobodies and negative assets haha. Zero chance I ever move up in a draft. The cost never makes sense in regards to a 1st rounder that high.... I'll move down though all day and double my picks. But we need to prove we actually have the ability to develop players first before I go all out with the magic beans.:P

I think we have a good setup with Abby being soo close to van... Time will tell but we are seeing good strides from klim podz and hogs

    yeah, agree

Keep them down there with Raty, Aman and anyone else under 24 who has a hope of breaking into the NHL. Learn the right way and get used to earning their wins (hopefully)

Seems pretty toxic on the big team until we flush a couple more players out and see if Tocchet can get them to walk the walk.

The ummm retool, major surgery, rebuild, strip em down to the core  (whatever you wanna call it)is on!

  8. At first look, it appears to be be a meh return.

Outside of media rumours it would be interesting to see who really was willing to give us more.

Happy with the 1st rounder which could be flipped for a decent RD right there but dont let it to dump F'ing salary.

Beauvillier obviously will be taking Brocks or Garlands place in the middle 6.  He was on the first line and all of his points are even strength points and has same goal output as Boeser... fast and smallish which doesn't follow the "hard to play against" idea

Raty is the key prospect here and as a 20YO playing his first season in the AHL, doing well and looks to be a potential 3rd line hard nose centre with a heavy shot

Raty generates so much power on every release by sacrificing a quick drawback, instead taking his sweet time loading downforce into his lever-action wrister. It’s a hard, accurate shot when he has the time and space to send it on net. He’ll drive the centre lane with the puck on nearly every entry, and he isn’t shy about setting up shop at the net-front even if it means paying a physical toll on every shift. -

bye bye Brock and /or Garland or both... and just get us some $#%ing Defense puuulease!!

Yeah, but because JR won't let any other teams talk to his agent, it makes me think they're going to work something out. Still over a month until the TDL, so there is time to switch gears (let other teams negotiate).

The Canucks core is not good. They can't stick with these same guys moving forward and expecting a better result. That would be insane.

Bo has been good captain and key part of our core, but with all the issues over the past 1.5 years it's time for a change. There are too many lingering effects that cannot be improved with out that change.

Also if Myers is considered part of our core , he shouldn't be. A

Petey, Hughes, OEL, Miller, Demko should be the voices there to try to set the example of whatever identity management is looking for.

The Marlies are a good team too. Third in the league. Abby has been playing great lately.

I suggest people go to the Klimovich thread to see his move from earlier. Didn’t score but he’s definitely playing with a ton of confidence right now.

Good structure is being taught down there. Hopefully they keep PodZ and Hogs down there until Van brings the same.
