  1. Totally agree with all of this. I dont think Seattle would take Myers if he was exposed. But at least if they did the silver lining is there is lots of cap to replace him. Not sure tgey would take Schmidt but I think its more likely than Myers.
  2. We do need more wrecking ball type players. Was happy to hear our top prospect is one!
  3. The absolute last thing I want the Canucks to do with their defense or otherwise is chase a trend. I want to see the Canucks bring in the best defensemen they can where they can build complementary pairings and build their own defensive system to maximize the strengths and minimize the weaknesses of that particular group of players. A lot of people forget that defense is a 6 man endeavour. The D and goalie are only half that equation. And they get the lions share of the blame for defensive breakdowns and inefficiency. How the forwards support defensively and on the breakout/transition is, imho, as big a defensive issue with the Canucks as the D is. How many times have we seen a forward blow their coverage to allow a trailing player a prime shot from a dangerous area? A lot. How many times have we seen the D double and triple pumping on a long breakout pass (only to turnover the puck or ice it) because the forwards are not giving them any clean options or are standing motionless at the boards? A lot. The entire team needs to be more committed to playing congrous team defense.
  4. Edler doesnt play bad defense. He just plays good defense with half the footspeed and reaction time.
  5. I just looked. It looks like I have received one warning in my entire time on cdc.
  6. I am viewed as a hater. I personally dont think criticizing is hating but others can see me how they want to. The truth is, I find talking about issues the team has, what I think they need to do to improve, and being realistically critical far more interesting than simply pretending everything is perfect. To me that is boring. I also find many responses I get are thought provoking, make me consider a different side, and interest me as far as a discussion goes far more than simply agreeing the Canucks are perfect as is or make excuses why they had no opportunity to be better than they are individually or as a team. If you guys knew me irl you would totally understand why I look at things through the lens I do. But you dont so if you need to see me as a hater thats ok. I can tell you it has nothing to do with that. I dislike alot of how the Canucks have done things. But I dont hate the Canucks, or Benning, or anyone else involved with the team.
  7. I wouldnt be shocked if I found out any Canucks player did it tbh. Because drug use isnt always an outcome of being a low character person. Anyone can have a drug problem or use them recreationally. That doesnt mean anyone on the Canucks does or doesnt.
  8. So whats wrong with people giving their opinions on what those players need to do to improve? You can say a lot about me but "not being realistic" is not one of them. I see the strengths and weaknesses in players. I dont suggest their weaknesses are lessened simply because they are a Canuck.
  9. I love Quinn Hughes. I just dont think he is perfect.
  10. So, you also strongly discourage the guy I was responding to who disparaged Virtanen, right? I must have missed the mod threat on him. I did not name a specific player or yalk about any specific players. So how I am disrespecting anyone's personal privacy is certainly a question I would have for you.
  11. I hate the speculation that a widespread problem in sports cannot possibly impact the Canucks.
  12. No clue. But its a known problem in sports. No team is immune to it.
  13. Good fit with the Rangers. He will make them a better team and has a lot to work with on that roster. Happy to see him get another opportunity.
  14. To some degree maybe. Does it make them equal players in a direct comparison simply based on that? My opinion is no, not at all. Makar is still a much better overall player to me. This approach completely ignores the players progress individually.
  15. Looking back I understand why you took it that way actually. I worded it totally wrong and would have made the same assumption tbh.
  16. Getting dragged down by people on CDC, not dragged down in his own play simply because he plays on a crappy team. I dont agree he is a bust like CDC does to pump up Hughes. I dont think he has played that badly actually. As I said in your quote, it has an impact but it isnt something that should be used to inflate one player and denigrate another. You can play on a crappy team and still be given prime offensive opportunity with the best players. Like Hughes.
  17. No I wouldnt actually. I never said Makar was stellar defensively. I said he is progressing quite nicely on the defensive side without it impacting his offensive play. Hughes has not progressed yet. People can make a comparison. Nothing wrong with that. But compare the actual players realistically. Dont say they are pretty much equals based on a bunch of excuses like their team, or their partner, etc. that have little to do with their own progression in their own game. Hughes being on a $&!#tier team doesnt make him better and Makar worse than they are.
  18. Too many other factors so hard to say really. Coaching is abig factor in that. Exactly the same? No. Fundamentally the same? Quite possibly actually.
