  1. What I would have done in the past is irrelevant. But I can tell you with no hesitation it would have been impossible for it to have worked out worse than what ended up happening. The only thing they can do now is clear long term cap. At whatever cost it will take. OEL, Myers, Miller, Garland, and Boeser all need to go. Only then will they be able to actually bring in a proper group to surround the core young guys. Everything they do now should be to get rid of cap.
  2. The Canucks have shown us for 10 years it’s pretty easy to lose with the rosters they put together. When your PK is historically low for 2 seasons running its a clear indication you can find all kinds of ways to lose, Playing to win and having the roster to win are different things.
  3. The Canucks didn’t need another offense first dman. They need dmen who can actually defend effectively.
  4. When did I say blow it up or tear it down to the studs and build only through the draft? And no I don’t think this core will make us cup contenders to be honest.
  5. Replace Hronek with a half dozen other younger RHD who will likely be available. Myopic focus on getting that one player you really covet is what got us OEL. And now Hronek at a too high cost.
  6. You need cap and tradeable assets to get those players. And you need a scouting staff who can identify them. And you need to not pay top dollar on every contract you give out because you fear having to accept less for a replaceable player. Should have used those picks to offload cap.
  7. Oh they have been rebuilding. Just not in the efficient way. In the quick fix retool way. They have already wasted several years of Hughes, Petey, Horvat, etc. with their refusal to rebuild properly. The fact they think they can make the playoffs next year is hilarious to me. Say goodbye to Petey soon.
  8. The team looked better under Boudreau at the start too. Eventually that will settle itself. The roster is and will continue to be the problem. If there was ever a year the Canucks should have just gone all in on the tank it’s this one. Going on a heater now with a coach bump to ruin their draft odds and placement would be very Canucks like unfortunately.
  9. Hronek is a decent rhd. But the real problems on this roster are still here. And will be for awhile it seems.
  10. Should have embraced being a true bottom feeder sometime in the last 10 years when they were spending to the cap, bleeding picks, and wasting time while still ending up a bottom feeder. Unfortunately the OEL trade as the cherry on top made it almost a certainty this team would go nowhere. And it still won’t for several years.
  11. I find it funny that so many people fear an actual rebuild in Van. The reality is they have been rebuilding for 9 or 10 years. They have just done it wrong and wasted opportunity after opportunity. Because they fear actually rebuilding. Whats happened in Van is more painful and damaging than an actual tear down would have ever been.
  12. I disagree. The big name too high cost UFA players won’t but who cares?
  13. Aquilini is the exact opposite of what I wrote.
  14. The rangers also have the inherent advantage of every player wanting to play there.
  15. Two counterpoints. 1. The cost to acquire Hronek would have been much lower in the summer when picks have their most value. 2. There is zero reason the Canucks should need or want to become a winning team before next season.
  16. I expect he is a fan of 31 other teams ahead of being a Canucks fan right now and who can blame him?
  17. Just want the team to lose every remaining game. So looking forward to the win 13 of 14 to drop down the draft like every other year.
  18. I wasn’t too obnoxious about it? Hmmm must have been having a good day haha. No worries man. You are a worthy adversary to argue points with and I always enjoy it.
  19. Updated Vegas Roster E.Kane-Eichel-Hyman Debrincat-Stutzle-Tarasenko Kurashev-Jenner-Hartman Frederic-Johansen-Blais Gregor, Heinen, McLeod Chychrun-Toews McCabe-Dumoulin Girard-Hague Stanley Georgiev Oettinger Forward Prospects Tomasino Grieg Cuylle Jonsson-Fjallby Defense Prospects Bjornfot Farrance Hunt McIsaac Goaltender Prospects Primeau Silovs
  20. Actually if you dig into it more deeply a huge part of the core of that team was built in one offseason by interim GM Jeff Gorton.
  21. If he gets waived Columbus will claim him I bet. I mean, why not really. Their team is garbage anyway.
  22. It’s good to have hope. Unfortunately I have none left for this team. They will win 13 of their last 14 and pick 10th OA. That’s my limit on hope at this point lol
