  1. Where is the suspension? And honestly someone needs to tune this kid up hard.
  2. He was trying to trade for OEL and his anchor of a contract. Lost a top 6 winger as result. Markstrom leaving is fine. The defense misses Tanev though. Benning probably could have kept him for cheaper but didnt even tey until it was too late. The finishing touches are where Benning really sucks. Give it to a GM who can build out a competitive supporting cast.
  3. If Green gets replaced it needs to be for the right reason and it needs to be for a clear upgrade. If they let Green go and promote the Utica guy for example, that is jusg a huge step back. If they fire him and hire a guy like Gallant I think it makes sense. The context and the replacement would both significantly impact how i feel about replacing him. I could love it or hate it.
  4. I have beenroght and wrong on opinions over the years. So has everyone else that has opinions either way. Disagreeing without being disagreeable or treating people with respect when you disagree are definitely long forgotten skills for most people. Its just hockey, who cares?
  5. Not sure what you are blathering on about. I give Benning, Green, etc credit when they do good things. And I criticize them when they do dumb things. I am not a "hater" like you seem to keep suggesting. I dont care what people think of my opinions and they should not care what I think of theirs. I can probably count on one hand the number of times I have made an argument on here personal. I have opinions, I argue them. You yourself have called me an idiot, a sociopath, a liar, and several other insults that have nothing to do with talking hockey on a forum. Did you stop to think how my family would feel if they read that about me? Ya, hypocritville called, they want their mayor back. And please just stop PM'ing me with your continued insults. It just makes me pity you for taking someone elses opinion on hockey so seriously. There are more important things in the world to focus your stress on.
  6. I am not convinced that a new GM could not actually turn this ship around faster than Benning will be able to. There is a lot of cap space upcoming. The last thing we need is Benning using it up on more of the same kind of middling bottom 6 guys on long contracts or worse swing for the fences on a $&!#ty trade like for oel or sign a regret immediately ufa. This is the perfect time for a new GM. Gives him a bit of time to assess and tweak while actually planning what kind of team he wants. With the ability cap wise soon to make it a reality.
  7. The way people talk about him on here its like he was a nothing player who became great. In reality he was an average bottom 6 guy who became a good one. I see people saying they want him in the top 6 now with Miller and Boeser. Based on what though? A couple of streaky offensive moments? Come on. He is arguably our best bottom 6 player. I love the way he plays. I would get rid of everyone else in the bottom 6 before him. But people are so hard up for a trade win for Benning they make him out to be something he is clearly not. And now those same people are saying Highmore is going to be the same, because that is probably the only way this trade can ever be justified. Highmore has shown pretty much nothing so far other than he can hustle and get hit a few times every game because his head is down. I see nothing from him to suggest the trade is already a slam dunk win for Benning. Lets be fair. In spite of his flaws, Gaudette with Miller and Boeser right now would offensively be far better than anyone they are trying there. Our bottom 6 players are terrible offensively and you still have to score to win.
  8. Motte is also somewhat overrated in my opinion. Good player, hustles always, and sporadically chips in with some streaky offense. Unlike many on cdc i dont see him as a great player though. Just good at his role, not someone who should ever be in the top 6. I amalso not a fan of trying to build a supporting cast around limited offense, safe players. Pretty much our whole bottom 6 is that now. And usually 1 spot in the top 6.
  9. If he can that would be fine. But he hasnt shown much to suggest he can at this point.
  10. In watching the Canucks this season, its immediately obvious that unless Demko or Holtby stand on their head the teams defensive play is simply too shaky to ever believe they can sustain any winning momentum.
  11. He is the king of cherry picking stats that fit his preconceived conclusion.
  12. And they were among the coldest the entire rest of the season. Cherry picking again?
  13. We will for sure. I honestly dont think Highmore has added anything we didnt already have in Boyd, Vesey, Hawryluk, etc. He hustles but really doesnt impact the game offensively or defensively.
  14. Jeremy Colliton on Adam Gaudette, who joined the #Blackhawks for practice today: "He's a full go, as far as I'm concerned. Just trying to get him up to speed, get him in and back in shape after quite a bit of time off." Said this right after they acquired him. Maybe seeing him in his first game gave them hesitation in rushing him in after covid. Or they could have completely given up on him based on one game after trading for him. One of those makes more sense than the other. P.S. - he scored a goal for them tonight so obviously they played him.
  15. I see this as an absolutely critical next step. I think in some ways this has held back the team and kept it in the "polite style" culture that the Sedin era had.
  16. He always should have been groomed to be a winger at the NHL level. The Canucks made a huge mistake trying to shoehorn him as a 3C. I look at our team right now the last several games and, even as much as his defensive game needs work, I cant honestly see how with EP out and no one working on LW with Miller and Boeser that Gaudette playing his off wing could not have provided more offensive chances and opportunity for that line than its gotten from Vesey, Motte, Virtanen, MacEwan, etc. Gaudette is a fast skater and he does hustle. He does have good offensive skill and instincts. Plus when he plays with good players he helps create offensive chances.
  17. Ya tonight really hammered home the need for a new voice. Honestly, even if he is only here for a few years (he tends to not be a long term coach), Gerard Gallant is exactly what this team needs in a coach right now. His teams play structured defense but also are very creative offensively and play a puck possession style. And his teams arent afraid to push back either. I am lukewarm on Green but this team needs an identity and Gallant is one of the best coaches at building a culture and getting buy in. He probably will favor vets like Hreen though so be prepared lol.
  18. Sit Hughes and Hamonic next game. Edler-Bowey Rathbone-Schmidt Juolevi-Myers I mean, why not. Both Hughes and Hamonic look tired and were garbage tonight. Not a huge fan of Chatfield tbh. Made a few good defensive plays but he is just not good positionally. He seems like he is trying to be Quinn Hughes.
  19. Everyone still enamored with Highmore? To me he has been ok. Hustles but usually does very little with it. Anyone else notice he has his head down a lot too? Always worried he is going to get rocked.
  20. Thats the thing that really gets me. The team has no identity and no toughness at all.
  21. Ya i am very disappointed by it tbh. For all the talk of a tight knit group I really dont feel it like I did in 94. The team has been this way for a long time. No pushback, no bite, no standing up for each other with any consistency.
  22. Wow.....didnt see this one coming. Thought for sure he would love it.
