  1. Unless the refs are building the roster and coaching it, they are not the issue in why this team loses games, has no identity, and can’t get out of their funk. Officiating is terrible. It’s not a Canucks issue it’s an nhl wide issue.
  2. Holland at least had a lot of success though. A GM mortgaging the future for the present who actually has success in the present (Holland, Gillis, etc) is very different than Benning who has mortgaged the future and had no success in the present. Benning needs to go for this team to have any chance of a cup window with this core.
  3. That’s revisionist history at best. Torts was the only one who seemed to understand the roster was stale and the culture was a country club. Torts would actually probably get a lot out of the current roster. Green is getting a paycheque for being a $&!#ty coach so ya I am good with getting one who actually knows how to coach.
  4. Of course you do. Because you need to craft a narrative that management and coaching have to be kept because no one better is available. Name one coach you think would choose not to coach this team due to the roster? And if the roster is that bad isn’t that managements fault for building it and ownerships fault for trusting inept management?
  5. If top NHL coaches don’t want to coach in Van there are only two reasons. 1. Ownership 2. Management
  6. WADR, him saying this doesn’t really prove anything. The fact he is saying anything about Miller at all is actually the weirdest part of that.
  7. That’s silly. The OP isn’t rambling, incoherent, off tangent, and reminiscent of a grandpa yelling at the clouds which is Benning’s style.
  8. Benning, Weisbrod, Baumgartner, King, and every other coach not named Shaw or Clark too please.
  9. Any GM who looked at any of those guys as potential core players should have been immediately punted into the core of the sun.
  10. I would agree. If he said that it would have already blown up in the media.
  11. The Canucks have, by far, the thinnest and most top heavy front office in the NHL. All power is centralized with Benning and Weisbrod who have gotten rid of any dissenting voices. They need a PoHO and actual departments that aren’t micro managed by those 2. 3 Hat Pat only worked because he was actually competent at the jobs and had good people around him. Ask yourself this. When you hear Benning talk does he inspire your confidence that he is the smartest guy in the room and that he has everything under control?
  12. I don’t disagree. But we would need a GM who can win a trade that doesn’t involve another team needing a cap dump.
  13. Ummm that’s the best reason given to waive him actually
  14. I agree and I have been a fan since the 70’s. Even the Keenan era wasn’t as bad as it didn’t last this long.
  15. Honestly, Boudreau would be a good fit with this team IMO. I even think Torts could be.
