1. They are a puck possession forward group being coached to play dump and chase. 2. They are a skating and transition game defensive group being coached to play passive D and chip it off the boards and out defense. 3. The GM completely screwed up by keeping the guys responsible for 1 and 2. 4. The team has no identity, no leadership, and no cohesion or will to play for each other. The favouritism of the coach has created a have vs have not culture. And that goes back to Desjardins too. Maybe all the way back to AV actually.

It says something that struggling teams play Vancouver and boom they bump the slump. And that backup goalies make and extra 500k on their next contract if they get started regularly against the Canucks. Honestly, Benning needs to be fired for keeping Green and Baumgartner and hiring 2 guys who never accomplished &^@# all in the nhl.

Agreed. There are lots of better options out there. I would even be happy letting Shaw take over with some new assistants and then do a thorough search. I don’t think Benning deserves another coach hire. He had that chance last summer and tied his fate to this group. Him and Weisbrod are past their best before date too. -

Can we fire Green, Baumgartner, and the other anonymous coaches with no nhl success and not named Shaw and Clark? -

What exactly does the media have to do with Hamonic not being vaccinated and Benning making the assurance that anyone associated with the team would be? The media reported nothing inflammatory about Hamonic or Benning as far as I have seen. They actually didn’t report much at all really. Until Benning and Hamonic came forward with what the story was. Reporting that info and calling out the obvious discrepancies in what Benning promised vs what he actually did in terms of requiring players to be 100% vaccinated isn’t the media making anything up. They are just reporting the truth there. I didn’t compare the situations between the Hawks and the Canucks. I compared the mentality of management that winning is justification to cut corners and mislead. -

Let’s go Canucks! Full 60 minute effort and a PP that moves and a PK that pressures more. Get it done. -

You don’t think Benning knew Hamonic was not vaccinated and didn’t want to get vaccinated as the reason he didn’t show up? At absolute worst Benning should have had the assurance of vaccination when he signed him which he clearly didn’t. Come on. I get it that Benning comes across as some likeable doofus who would never lie but he is still a GM who would have demanded full details up front from a guy he just signed for a big contract as to why he wasn’t showing up. How is the media at fault for reporting the truth? Benning is the one who - once again - made a statement of fact publicly and was either purposely lying all along or caved in on his stated principle to make an exception for Hamonic. Hamonic should have been nowhere near the team until he was fully vaccinated. But the Canucks were sucking thanks to keeping terrible coaches so Benning sacrificed on his promise because he was panicking and they needed Hamonic. Like with the Hawks situation, winning took priority over doing what was right for the safety of his team. NHL players signed to contracts are basically owned by the team. It’s not fair but it is reality. If Hamonic lied to Benning in any way it would have been grounds to terminate his contract. -

The people who blame the refs for every Canuck loss are just looking for excuses. In some ways, they represent the culture Benning and Green have built. Namely blame outside factors for everything that goes wrong. -

Or Benning knew, which is far more likely, and purposely misled the public with his 100% vaccinated statement. -

I remember Benning assuring everyone 100% of the team would be fully vaccinated. -

I really think a lot of that can be solved by ditching the dump and chase style this coach wants the team to play. They have the skill they just need to play in the right structure to use it more effectively. Green’s system is one of the weakest I have seen in terms of puck support in any zone. -

I think the main pieces are in place to play a high tempo, puck possession style. We should have the right D to effectively and quickly transition the puck. I would be happy to see what a team with the following lines could do. Miller-EP-Boeser Podkolzin-Horvat-Garland Pearson-Better C-Hoglander Motte-Dickinson-Bailey OEL-Myers Hughes-Poolman Burroughs-Hamonic Thats 3 good scoring lines and a relatively speedy 4th line. Definitely should be trying Hoglander, Garland, and Podkolzin on the PK IMO. -

To me, Miller-EP-Boeser Podkolzin-Horvat-Garland Pearson-Better C-Hoglander Or switch Hoglander and Podkolzin. -

I would rather see the team acquire a better two way center for that 3rd line. A guy with a bit more offensive creativity. Hoglander is a top 6 player IMO. So are Podkolzin and Garland. We have 7 quality top 6 players. Right now only 5 of them are in the top 6 though as I don’t consider Pearson to be one of them due to his offensive inconsistency. -

Good coaches don’t fear change and they don’t allow any player to dictate their line mates. Their job is to get the most out of each player and the team. Anyone who thinks Horvat is this type of player is essentially saying he is a whiny, self-entitled player. I find that incredibly hard to believe. He has shown zero sign of that ever. -

I know the theory is that Horvat is the one that demands Pearson plays with him. I just don’t see it though. First, Bo simply doesn’t seem to be that kind of guy. Second, he he seems to play with more jump the few times he plays with other good offensive players. I can’t imagine Horvat wants to be the matchup center on the team playing a shutdown role. He is just forced to be for lack of better options and being tethered to Pearson. -

He is a pretty sound positional player. He just doesn’t bring consistent enough offensive production to be a top 6 staple.
