  1. Value of 10OA = 565 'points' Value of 19OA+32OA = 610 'points' http://statsportsconsulting.com/main/wp-content/uploads/Schuckers_NHL_Draftchart.pdf So, contrary to initial reactions, the return is more than enough. Ottawa is unlikely to even make the deal unless they see someone they really want at 10 (after 1-9 have gone).
  2. Don't think so... according to this chart, Canucks would basically have to win the cup next year for that swap to be considered fair value. http://statsportsconsulting.com/main/wp-content/uploads/Schuckers_NHL_Draftchart.pdf
  3. Seemed like an impossible task? All that happened was drafting Marner at #4, and then winning the lottery the year after..
  4. What does that list have to do with being an iconic franchise? I guess the Wild and Preds are also more iconic than the Red Wings and Rangers.. And no, they actually can't be at the bottom of your regular season winning % list by the end of October. Good try.
  5. Why would Van do this? I would consider this deal if we weren't including JV
  6. Byram being around at 10 would be even more lucky (and also unlikely) than Hughes dropping to 6!
  7. There were tickets for the public last time
  8. Uh.. it's the reason that I "seem to want to ignore than element of choice which is extremely valuable". It really isn't.. lol
  9. The element of choice only appears valuable because every GM will think they are making the best selection. More often than not, that isn't the case.
  10. Has nothing to do with being our player or not... we're talking about a guy here who is #1 on every single redraft for his draft year. Obviously, any team would take a guy who has proven he deserved to be a #1 pick, over an unknown #2 pick..
  11. NYR would swap #2 for Pettersson in a heartbeat... not sure what you are going on about (not that your points are invalid, but just that they do not make the #2 pick worth more than one of the top rookies in the game).
  12. Regular season performance or maybe winning a round here and there sure, but as for the odds of actually winning the Stanley cup in the next decade, I see it as: VAN MTL CGY WPG TOR OTT EDM
  13. I think that is a problem with all fan bases tbh but you are right.. nothing in the team stats suggests that Marky was facing any more high quality scoring chances than the teams you mentioned, and so the team is no excuse for his "non-elite" SV% sorry people, but unless you watch every team's games, the eye test means nothing when claiming "well our D sucks so..." here is a good reference: https://www.naturalstattrick.com/teamtable.php?fromseason=20182019&thruseason=20182019&stype=2&sit=all&score=all&rate=n&team=all&loc=B&gpf=410&fd=&td=
  14. Haha if that was really his plan though, would make more sense to trade for #2, and then worst case scenario end up with Hughes if Kakko goes first.
  15. Yep I know.. was primarily replying to the part where @goblix said they doubt it is anywhere close. But a it's very possible Hughes will start off playing on the wing btw
  16. I think a part of me would always hate Jack if we had to lose Bo or Brock to get him.
  17. It's a good deal for NJ though... - Marky takes them to the playoffs = $$ for the owners. - Shed cap space for trade deadline deals. - Two 1st and two prospects to keep the cupboards stoked in case things don't go as planned with Marky. Not sure if I'd make this deal, but if Jimbo were to decide to, I would grow to accept it.
  18. Now that is a claim that needs some evidence backing it up..
  19. I don't think the OP needs evidence.. His options just went from one team, to 31.. So although Van may still be the front runner if there's some loyalty, there is definitely a good chance he decides to go elsewhere.
  20. Not much tbh... the guys know it's just the way FA works. (ex. Horvat signing for $5.5M while Eriksdone was already making $6M)
  21. sorry lol I don't have time for that.. all I know is who looked like garbage (to me) while he was here. His +/- backed it up. Him in Pitt means nothing as it's not relevant to the discussion we had earlier while he was in Van
  22. Ya.. I can quote all your posts and mine too.. guess what? that was when he was on the Canucks. You were saying he was fine on the nucks (he wasn't), not the Pens bud
  23. Not sure what his play on the Pens has to do with anything tbh.... he was sh*t while he was here and he admitted that himself. Maybe it was our system, his partners, wtv.. it isn't really relevant because I never said that he was a bad hockey player but that he sucked on our team (and his +/- backed that up)
