  1. Nope because then you can't afford to pay all those players when they come up at the same time.. maybe if you guys actually give it some thought instead of just looking at the book value of the trade you will see that it is dumb the other way too (trading your best picks in consecutive years)
  2. And btw.. any team trading away their 1st rounder in two straight years would obviously be improved. Yet how often do you see that happen? Maybe give that some thought.. Just seems so silly to say "agree to disagree" when you keep talking about the proposed trade at face value and haven't even acknowledged my main point - these are trades a team on the cusp of winning the cup makes. You don't make them just to become competitive and maybe win a few playoff rounds, and then end up with a crippled team 5 years later with nothing to show for it
  3. Solidified our first line.. and for what?? It really sounds like you are happy to just be a middling team forever. Cause in case you aren't aware, that is all your proposed strategy of trading away 1st rounders for players just in order to be completive, is going to achieve I said a decade from now.. aka when last year's and this year's first rounders would be in their prime
  4. In what way has the trade worked out well? Has JT accomplished anything here? A decade from now JT & Cernak will be gone with nothing to show for it aside from the fact that the Canucks will have absolutely 0 home grown talent... no no no.. you trade 2 first rounders in a row when you are on the cusp of winning the cup, not just to make your team competitive
  5. Sorry, can't really make sense of what you're saying here... To clarify, what I am saying is that I believe any player that costs the 9OA pick, w/o any picks coming back our way, is out of our price range. That's the type of trade you make if you are the 2010 Canucks, not the 2021 Canucks who already dealt their 1st last year.
  6. Well, here's hoping that it's lots (of trouble) It would be a great acquisition. I think people here are just underestimating the potential detriment that can occur at a foundational level, if the cupboards aren't stocked with talent at all times. No 1st or 2nd rounder last year, and now a proposed no 1st this year, is asking for trouble.
  7. Hmm yeah I'd probably do that. Would TB though? How does me saying he is "out of our price range" = "not worth a 1st round pick" ?
  8. Probably.. which means that he is out of our price range. Canucks are in no position to be going 2 straight years w/o a 1st round pick.
  9. Does swagger have anything to do with physicality really? Not to me.... all about those silky mitts and not being afraid to try the unexpected
  10. I feel like Petey & Schmidt are like 99% of the way to having "true" swagger. They usually have it, but then at the slightest of things not going their way, they seem to lose it. And the whole point of really having swagger is that you don't let that happen and come out the shift after a mistake the same as you would a shift after a goal. Maybe there is too much pressure from the coaching staff to play a mistake free game? Obviously, no one likes mistakes, but sometimes the best way to avoid mistakes is by letting players play without the pressure on their shoulders of what will happen if they do make one. Sorry for the ramble, just thinking out loud here pretty much..
  11. That's far oversimplified though. A person can be extremely confident in their abilities, cocky even, but still be high character outside of when they are on the ice.
  12. Oh really? Yeah I think it was a pretty well known fact because there was talk about how the Canucks should have traded down to draft Petey but that wouldn't have worked because the Rangers would've 100% snagged him at #7. Not trying to be a dick or anything.. just FYI
  13. Lol, the Ranger are getting in on the action https://www.blueshirtbanter.com/2021/6/18/22533580/nhl-the-new-york-rangers-should-offer-sheet-elias-pettersson-jack-eichel
  14. Kinda look like Edler lol
  15. Yes but nothing was forcing us to resign Gauds or Benn. We could easily signed guys in the offseason to league min or even tried guys out on PTOs
  16. Oh ok well I agree with you there. It's just that you said "true" to a comment saying we shed cap, when in reality we actually increased next year's cap by $1.5m (albeit for 2 players making league min at least)
  17. I don't get how it's the sad reality.. no $ was committed to either Gaudette or Benn next year
  18. Except neither of those guy were signed into next year.. so actually we just committed $1.5 mil to two replacement level players
  19. lol.. you're the one that sounds mad for some reason.. why can't I talk about time? a 7 year rebuild and you guys are still defending this buffoon
  20. I've been "sitting back" for 3 years now.. how much time does he need? And a experienced GM isn't supposed to be making a "mistake" that costs a team 5+ years of being competitive
  21. ? no.. you are the one wasting people's time saying that one player is better than another, when you haven't even seen one of them play
  22. you just admitted to never watching Highmore play and are now calling him the better player... why waste everyone's time making stuff up?
