  1. Matthias is a better skater than Gaunce, but I think Brendan is much better along the boards and has a much higher hockey IQ. He is also very poised and appears to be the 'character and leader' type that JB likes. Gaunce also has the advantage of developing in a very good system and will likely reach his potential, whereas Matthias had....Florida. I think he is more like Higgins, but maybe not as good offensively. I see Gaunce ending up as a very good 3rd liner. Imo, Gaunce is ahead of Virt in NHL readiness, but will be sent back to Utica because he is waiver exempt. He will get plenty of callups due to injuries and then make the team at trade deadline.
  2. The roster that starts the season will look quite different by the time trade deadline flies by.
  3. The only thing they have in common is their age. As much as I like Juice, he was clearly struggling on the decline last year. Burr is still a good player who can play on any line and do well. He has amazing hockey sense and is very good offensively and defensively. He is most likely a very good guy in the locker room as well. He has massive experience and can show the youngin's what it takes for a no-name, non-drafted plug to become a solid NHL player. Regardless, the best time to look at trading him will be at the trade deadline next season ('16/17), as he will only have one year left on his contract. At the moment, the team has no replacement for him; certainly not in their prospect pool. Going forward, Burr's cap hit is not an issue, so I don't see trading him until there's a prospect good enough to take his job.
  4. Where's Higgyfan? He's always been a Gauncerfan.
  5. Agreed. I think he'll be playing in Van by trade deadline. He looks like one serious dude that has a fantastic motivation/determination to develop his game. He's next up to the plate, for sure.
  6. Yeah, I don't think they use Prust as a C. They start out with Vey and keep an eye on how Cassels is doing in Utica. If Cassels looks NHL ready during the season, I can see him slipping into the 4th C roll when an injury happens. Vey seems like a better option at W anyways.
  7. If he can play really well on a poor team, he stands a chance of being traded to a contender for picks. Would be awesome for him to get some Mem. cup experience.
  8. It will be interesting to see how Brock measures up against older and more mature players. As a freshman, it will be a bit of a jump for him, so he will likely start out a bit slow. I think this guy has some exciting potential and will see it on the rise later in the year. If Team USA don't use him in the JWCs, they will be making a big mistake.
  9. Thanks, but I'll take Higgins and Hansen who already have their 2-way game up to snuff.
