So, if the current world view is to remove/take down statues of people that were involved with slavery, why is it that the pyramids in Egypt are not being destroyed? Afterall, the Egyptians used slaves to build them!

@Down by the Rivera statue of a man was not a "monument" to slave owners neither - it was a monument to some great thing or things they did - it was only taken down after it was determined that they were involved in slavery. The Sphinx is a monument, with a pharaoh headdress, Pharoh's had slaves.
What if I strenuously object that the Sphinx is offensive - will it be taken down?
(In all seriousness, I am against slavery and apologies for being sarcastic on a terrible trait humans had and some still have) -
