  1. I was at work, in the Petro Canada tower in Calgary. Someone in the office said there was a plane crash in New York, we were supposed to have a meeting in one of the conference rooms, it had a big screen and cable connection/TV - so we turned it on and started watching. The first tower had been hit. We were wondering how the heck did that happen. Then, we saw live, the 2nd tower get hit. It was shocking. When the towers collapsed, that's when our building went into lockdown. Petro Canada release an internal memo - telling people to go home, and only necessary workers needed to remain. Did I mention Sept 11th is my birthday? Yeah, wasn't a great day at all and I have been reminded of it every year since then.

I don't know..would say late 70's, early 80's AM radio-overkill, spoiled Billy Joel imho. In the Old man's car, seems all we heard with only AM. Then he went thru that doo-wop, dance rock, upbeat stuff that was borderline criminal. By that time he was apparently juggling supermodels, & may have lost touch with reality?

I guess someone could do an interesting Billy Joel song-medley.

  4. 1 Sept 1976, Wish You Were Here was close to spending one year on the UK chart. Pink Floyd’s ninth studio had been premiered at Knebworth in July 1975, and was released in September that year. It was an instant success, with record company EMI unable to press enough copies to satisfy demand. The artwork for the album package was once again created by the Hipgnosis team, who created a series of tableaux based on ‘absence’, including the empty gesture of a handshake between two US business men (one of whom is on fire), a diver that causes no ripples, and a piece of gauze floating in the wind, photographed somewhere in Norfolk, UK.

  5. Pinocchio, Snow White, and Superman Pinocchio, Snow White, and Superman are out for a little stroll in town one afternoon enjoying the sunshine. As they walked, they come across a sign: "Beauty contest for the most beautiful woman in the world." "I am entering!" said Snow White. After half an hour she comes out and they ask her, "Well, how'd ya go?" "I won First Place !," said Snow White. They continue walking and they see another sign: "Contest for the strongest man in the world." "I'm entering," says Superman. After half an hour, he returns and they ask him, "How did you make out?" "I won First Place , too," answers Superman. "Did you ever have a doubt?" They continue walking when they see a third sign: "Contest - Who is the greatest liar in the world?" Pinocchio quickly enters the contest. After half an hour he returns with tears in his eyes. "What happened?" they asked. "Who the hell is Justin Trudeau?" asked Pinocchio.

  9. So, let me get this straight.  I go to Safeway’s/Sobey’s and buy 200g of sliced ham wrapped in plastic, a loaf of bread in a plastic bag, two litres of milk in a plastic jug, a package of napkins wrapped in plastic, a tossed salad in a plastic container, a plastic bottle of mustard and a plastic bottle of ketchup, and they won’t give me a plastic bag to carry it all home because the plastic bag is bad for the environment?

"The earth doesn’t share our prejudice toward plastic. Plastic came out of the earth. The earth probably sees plastic as just another one of its children. Could be the only reason the earth allowed us to be spawned from it in the first place. It wanted plastic for itself. Didn’t know how to make it. Needed us. Could be the answer to our age-old egocentric philosophical question, “Why are we here?”

  12. You want to play for a winning team? Then start performing like a winner. Is it me or are a lot of the newer NHL players like millennials? You know, want to get paid a whole lot for doing very little and/or be given success?

I know people don't like rain. But I was outside this morning and I loved it. Perfect temperature, warm rain falling down. I hope it stays this way for a week or two to give the firefighters a chance to get everything contained and put out.
