  1. Should have been 3 - 0 for us by the second based on play. We just ran out of gas or just lost our focus when it wasn't going in for us. Oh well, we scavenged a point. . .
  2. Nice SHUT OUT you have there Gibson Be a shame if anything were to happen to it
  3. Sure seems like its going to be one of THOSE games. Please gawd no Spent a lot of energy by coming out of the gate strong, and carrying the play, with the plan of getting a quick lead Im sure. They can't keep that pace forever though. They have to jump on the opportunities. Too many bad passes and missed assignments as the games wore on. But Its still very winnable for a team thats that kind of team. Win da turd!
  4. Just one good bounce oh hockey gods, that's all we ask. Petey and Brock will do the rest
  5. Quinn Love how this team is still dominating shots on teams. Bad bounces, and good goaltending aside. If we just keep it up, we should win this game no problem.
  6. Mayor of Rightville IBatch I just have a problem with that kind of staged fight, which I think makes a mockery of NHL fighting that we both support. Its almost like Ferland heard the criticism and just made a subjective decision he was going to get a fight in that game, whether it was needed or not, to get fans off his back. It was like a business arrangement between them. A good fight needs some kind of reason, or build up. A good game is like a story, with a narrative. The good the bad and the ugly. Players remembering numbers, for later retribution etc. I wasn't going to comment but when I heard he got injured because of that joke of a fight too, I just had to vent. BTW, do you know about our Provinces history of labour rights battles, the main reason historically we have evolved into such a polarized voting base here. I wouldn't call those grizzled "lefties", loggers and miners who fought for the right to unionize in the early part of the last century wimps. The police used bayonets back then.
  7. Gino Odjick Left Wing -- shoots L Born Sep 7 1970 -- Maniwaki, PQ [49 yrs. ago] Height 6.03 -- Weight 215 [191 cm/98 kg] Drafted by Vancouver Canucks - round 5 #86 overall 1990 NHL Entry Draft
  8. Nope. Can't say that at this point. But maybe, have to see him play here again first. But injuries and playoff depth. That would be his main value this season.
  9. Fair point about the OP talking about him helping us this season. But I'd say he could help us this season as well, especially in the playoffs. Do you remember one of the reasons we lost in the SCF was our increasingly depleted D core. Rome's suspension was the final nail. But injuries happen during the season too. His size is a legitimate factor in assessing his value. It is for most D. ie..Guddy was more expensive than Stecher, even though Stecher was/is arguably quicker and more effective . Size, especially on defence IS a talent to factor in, and especially if they can skate too. He'd not take 2 or 3 years more of development. I'd expect him to make the team next October. And as to he "hasn't been able to make it onto an NHL roster"? He has. And JB would have been happy to have kept him here. I would think you'd know that. I didn't' like his prima donna attitude about going to Utica etc. But I'm willing to ride that off to him being Russian, in a new culture, and young. I'd give him a mulligan on that first impression.
  10. I'm surprised at how underrated he has become on here. Tryamkin is a rare egg. A tall rare egg. He has unique skills. Even different than Myers. Tryamkin has this indescribable intimidating factor, even if he's not a fighter at heart, (much like Chara). Plus he's not a pylon out there and can skate and is also good at moving the puck out of the D zone. His wingspan I recall was great for puck retrieval, stick checking, as well as promising for developing a huge slapshot from the point. He's a special talent + size that can't be bottled. I can't say for sure he'd bump one of our top 6 at present, but I'd give him a shot in Benn's spot if I had my druthers. I especially love how he just wedges players along the boards almost in slow motion. There's absolutely nowhere to go for the player . The look in their eyes as they are slowly, involuntarily, squished into the boards and down to the ice. Conditioned on his attitude, if he'll accept waiting as a seventh if there are no significant D injuries, why wouldn't JB want a stallion like him in the stable? But I'll make a crazy prediction, as the OP also did.......There will be injuries on defense this season. There I said it. Believe it or not. A team can never have enough D depth. Especially if we make the playoffs. It would be nuts for JB not to keep working to get him here again. Stop thinking about how well he is ready for the NHL now. He is still young. Think about his potential in this league if and once he accepts whatever plan the Canucks have for him, even if its sitting as a seventh when he comes up. Think what he could be for us after he puts another full season behind him in the NHL, and is more comfortable here in North America, (and his wife too) . .
  11. What are you talking about? Speaking of "realistic". So you LIKE staged fighting for nothing? You think it was worth Ferland out because of a broken finger or concussion, or something else, if it was because of that pointless staged fight? I don't. That was my point. But yeah, go ahead and imply that because I like fights that are done for a reason, mainly as a response to a team mate's injury from a dirty hit, or roughing the goalie etc., that means I like to gloat for Canuck losses? How the #%@& do you get from one to the other? And no, the coach of a team dominating should NOT tap one of his more physical players on the shoulder and suggest he purposely get into a fight because the team needs a spark. That's why I said I hope it wasn't Green's idea. Can you understand that? Because I have more faith in Green than that. The reason to even bring up the coaches name is because many times staged fights like that have the coaches mitts all over them. Because it was difficult to understand why else Ferland would engage in one. Including discussing it beforehand with his opponent, and congratulating each other when it was done. One of the least passionate fights I've ever seen, like they were both just going through the motions. If it was all Ferland than he's completely out of touch with what was needed. Maybe he thought he needed a fight on his resume as a Canuck and thought that that time was as good as any. I don't know. But if their player had pummelled Ferland, it would have been the Kings that got a lift. Dumb dumb dumb dumb.
  12. I was hoping he'd have shot and scored on that play Would be a highlight around the league. Especially if that was the guy that speared him, but I guess it was Carter
  13. I was thinking at the time how useless that staged fight was as they all are. It happened like a business arrangement with them first talking terms, then a mostly grab n miss kind of fight and congratulations after. For what? It was at a point in the game when we were playing well, as we did all game. It wasn't all that great a strategy even. I hope it wasn't Green's idea. Hockey God Karma.
  14. Petey is purposely letting all the NHL goalies know to watch out this season, with his blistering shots across the bow.
