I think LE has been listening a little too much to Donnie Taylor.

Its the Beagle vs. the Bulldog tonight!
-
Gaudette out doesn't bother me. Green has a history of easing younger players into the lineup. Even if they are not playing poorly. Its a strategy. If he sees some bad habit creeping in, even just minutely, they have enough time in their upcoming careers to sit out a game once in awhile to watch and learn. And then be recharged to come out stronger than ever. Motte deserves some playing time. Get the rust out. And keep your heads up boys, the bulldog is looking for payback!

Especially since he'll be the seventh D, sitting in the press box. Rather give younger players with more upside like Brisebois more AHL icetime.

Sucks how we have to wait, and have our start be so delayed between games at the first. What's worse is that teams, including ours, don't need extra time off this time of year. In fact, especially for Boeser, players need to get initial games behind them to get fully conditioned. So other teams are ahead of us in that regard. And on the flip side, our games will now be condensed into the remaining schedule time. Sure not by a lot, but who knows how that extra back to back or two will affect us come March or April? Rant off. Go Canucks Go!!!

Is there a possibility for a West Coast Express 2.0?
kilgore replied to JayCanuckMan's topic in Canucks Talk
No Totally different dynamic. Besides, I think we can be a little more creative with a line name than just adding "2.0" amIright? -

Defensive utopia -
Definitely Bert should be in the RoO. Tired of hearing how he doesn't meet some league wide historical standard. Firstly the RoO is a relatively new tradition, and has no defined standards. It is a team by team acknowledgement. Its our history, our fan experiences. Sure a Canadiens fan can scoff at our RoO or even our jerseys hanging up, but lets not forget how many more years they were in the league, the fact that for a long time only 6 teams divied up the players, and that for a time Montreal got to have a special "French Canadian Rule" that they could skim off the two best Quebec born players every year. Its like comparing apples to maple syrup. Its how much of an impact he made on the team, for a long enough period. Its how much he got fans to rise in their seats. How much the player bled for the city on the ice. How uniquely special he was to the team. Todd checks all the boxes. The Moore incident was just a blip to me. In fact weighing everything, I don't care if I get flamed, but I support what he did. I'd like to see more of that spirit from the present day team. The injury was an unfortunate result, but was brought on by a series of unfortunate events started with the frustration of Moore chickening out and skating away leading to a blind side punch, which of course was not right, but done with the emotion of his fellow team mates and thousands of fans behind him that saw his skating away as an analogy of the NHL skating away and doing nothing about the Moore hit on Naslund which concussed him and had him out for three games. Not even an interference call on the play. He did what any decent teammate and friend would have done in trying to confront him. THAT was, and is, the overriding takeaway for me from that. Not the accidental result, which I have no problem with the league suspension over, they had to even if just for publicity sake.

Will Trevor Linden be a part of the celebration next season?
kilgore replied to CRAZY_4_NAZZY's topic in Canucks Talk
I agree with McGill. By all accounts Linden was resisting the "rush to rebuild". For Aquilini, it was all about rushing the process, rebuild on the fly. Sacrificing picks and prospects on a hope and a prayer that all we needed was Vey,...Eriksson...or Gagner....to have a parade down Robson with Francesco beaming from his float waving to his adoring fans. Yes you want to still have vets, support players. Key word "support", as in supporting up n coming youth or younger acquisitions. You still keep every pick, and promising prospect, and even look for ways to get additional picks ie. taking on bad contracts. That is the longer, but ultimately more proven method of acquiring much more depth of prospects. So that you wouldn't have to trade off future #1's for more help now. (maybe we'd have a couple more prospects to spare to trade for Miller instead) -
Will Trevor Linden be a part of the celebration next season?
kilgore replied to CRAZY_4_NAZZY's topic in Canucks Talk
I wonder if Trevor rues the day he accepted the role as president. It seems like it was mostly a ceremonial title done to boost ticket sales, after a couple of seasons of declining season ticket buyers. Aquilini and JB obviously didn't give his opinions much weight. That or JB was more willing to bend to Aquilini's desires to go against all common wisdom and shoot for the playoffs, with free agents over prospects, way before they were ever ready. But if he'd never have taken that position, he'd obviously be center stage in the 50 year celebrations. I wonder if he thinks in retrospect if it was worth taking on that role. -

lol. replay shows a penalty ON Stecher, not BY him. Should have had even up on that -
If it were just Eriksson it would be palatable, but we also do not need Sutter AND Beagle, and their multi year over priced cap hits either. I don't think Benning thought, when he signed Beagle, who he thought could be a tougher replacement for Sutter, how difficult it would be to move Sutter. It didn't help that for the first time in his career, he became injury prone as soon as he landed here. This coming cluster*** is a direct result of not building an even bigger pool of prospects earlier, instead of going all in with free agency and trading away picks and prospects his first years here. Including now having to even dip into a future #1 to be able to ice a team that many pundits still do not see making the playoffs, but at least have a shot this season. Sorry, Must . Not . Live . In . Past. The glass is more than half full right now. I pray this all works out, and we get some sucker GM willing to take one of our superfluous overpaid vets before next season, so we can add actual younger proven talent to top off our roster. We still need a couple more of those top tier players who combine toughness with scoring ability, to seriously contend for the Cup. (I pray that Jake turns into one of those) And hey, if we exceed expectations this season, then it would probably mean that Eriksson, or Sutter, or Beagle played well too, and so should be easier to move at the TD or summer. Fingers crossed. . . .

Wow. Hawks have to make it a nail-biter again. Some odd play calls. But they pull out a squeeker against the Rams, in a game with 4 days rest.
