  1. We might as well just copy and paste this to use before every game. If he couldn't show up tor his Abby game, I'm not sure any kind of pre-game wishes will help anymore. But what else can we do? Its all up to him.
  2. So 3x3 overtime and shootouts are more grievous to you than fickle (or biased) referee standards resulting in potential injury through liberties against our players? What about when they took out the red line? It was changed to allow for more offence, and goals, the exact same reason for 3 on 3. Every pro sport alters their rules as time goes on. The alternative is that networks like NBC simply cut the feed at the top of the hour. But besides that, even though you may not think its a fair or traditional way to end a game, how can anyone just turn off the TV when its a tie game involving their favourite team, and they've already invested 2 hours of their time into a game? That's the part I do not understand. Do you also shut off a FIFA World Cup match too if it goes to a shootout? You have a lot of self discipline. . .
  3. Fact is, no one on the Canucks management has said for sure. In fact Green once was quoted declaring how there are a few veterans that might deserve it.....he even mentioned LE! Ladies and gentlemen presenting your new captain of your Vancouver Canucks...BOOOOOOOOO.... LOUIE LITTLE THINGS ERIKSSON! Seriously though, if they dared to nominate Edler, Tanev, Sutter, even Brock or Elias, there'd be another riot.
  4. Here we go again. Its once again open season on Canuck players. These SN guys speak for me:
  5. I was so p'd off when I heard the Canucks couldn't re-sign him. Reading this article, I can understand why he left. His desire to win a Cup before his playing days are done. Or at least have the opportunity to try. He figured the Canucks weren't close based on last season. And Tampa Bay had a much bigger shot at going to the dance again. But I wonder if he knew now, how JB was going to revamp the team, and how well Hughes was coming along, if he'd have accepted the Canucks offer. He'd have been a beast if we make the playoffs. https://canucksarmy.com/2019/07/17/luke-schenn-opens-up-about-choosing-lightning-over-canucks/ A former fifth overall pick, Schenn has barely had a taste of the playoffs in his career to date playing on rebuilding teams such as the Maple Leafs, Flyers, Coyotes, Ducks and Canucks. He’s played 734 career NHL games, but has just 12 career playoff games on his resume. The Lightning had an epic 128-point regular season last year and are once again a Cup Contender entering 2019-20. The Bolts got outmuscled at times in their first-round playoff loss to Columbus and could use the grit and physicality Schenn brings to the table. Schenn says seeing his brother Brayden Schenn win the Stanley Cup with the Blues and bringing it home to Saskatoon made him want to win it himself that much more. “There’s no question the fire is there,” Schenn told the Athletic. “When Tampa came in, (the Cup) was the first thing that crossed my mind. They were the top team in the league and obviously have extra motivation coming into next season. I haven’t had the chance to go deep in the playoffs yet, and that’s the main reason you keep going. I was glad to see my younger brother do it. You want it just as bad, if not more.” edit: I also think he'd have been a good influence for Jake, looking at that last line. He'd be a visible daily reminder of a 5th pick (one shy of Jake) player that maybe never appreciated or took advantage of his position when he was in his prime. Even on bad teams, you can shine and increase your value. When Jakes 125,000 contract runs out, he may be lucky to get what Schenn is getting on another team. . . .
  6. The thing is Jake should have already been putting in the effort and consistency two seasons ago. He should have been building up his resume so that today, we'd be talking about the core five, not the core four. Its come down to the last chance saloon. He'd better strap on his shotguns and step into that saloon all guns blazing. Its now or never I'm afraid. I really don't have high hopes though. Its a character issue. Some players are the opposite, like Petey, or Brock, or Burrows. They are driven to get better every day, and do whatever it takes to get there. Jake plays like he thinks he is already "there". Its sad to think he may be out of the NHL in a couple of years, and in ten years, will look back thinking "shoulda coulda woulda".
  7. JB may take any offers for him more seriously now though, if there are any.
  8. This is the kind of music the actual paying arena fans have to go through?
  9. Bennie! And Myers is forgiven, smart to hold off the pass until Benn was in sight and clear
  10. Major. We've almost had a PP this whole period so far. Come on boys, lets get that PP going!
  11. I'd love it if the were all streamed on YouTube. Its not like they couldn't make ad revenue. In fact you can't ff past an ad on YouTube. Its better for them.
  12. You crazy kids and your 100" TVs. If you grew up with a 20" b&w with only one channel, you'd be singing a different tune dagnabit. I watch on a 27" high def monitor. Here's a secret: you just sit 50% closer and its a 54". Voila! Your welcome ya whipper snapper.
  13. I always thought this was a dumb idea for Abbotsford. I went to one game there. I was actually surprised at how full it was. Red flame colours lighting up the arena. Actually I remember now that it was a game when the Canucks farm team were playing. I imagine the crowd sizes may have been smaller otherwise. The 80's called, they want their 10" Windows 1.0 PC, or original Macintosh 1 back. I also have no TV subscription. But a 5k retina screen 27" iMac, with a good Bose speaker system plugged in, works fine for me. Also getting easier to find streams these days. I agree with that previous poster, SN is behind the times. My only choice is to pay for a cable package to watch a stream (not going to happen) or buying Center Ice, which as I understand it, all home games are blacked out anyways. So.......why would I pay for that? or go through the hassle of finding another stream.....somewhere, which can be fickle. But that's my only choice. I wish SN would offer a package for all Canadians home town team game streaming. Something like a $100 - $200 for the season of 84 games. Its not like they can't force commercials on you just like TV. In fact you can PVR TV games and skip past commercials on TV. But you can be forced, like YouTube, to watch commercials on online video broadcasts.
  14. Jiminy Crickets I miss Howie now. Never liked him when he was on much, maybe it was his voice. But he brought a lot of life to a HNIC broadcast. Cherry has nothing on him for his on ice analysis. He even breaks down a Boeser goal in this clip.
  15. Baertschi-Pettersson-Boeser Pearson-Horvat-Miller Eriksson-Sutter-Leivo Schaller-Beagle-Virtanen I realize that Ferland is out with illness, but I'm not too keen on Baertschi on the top line. It could be that Baer just needs more games to catch up because of past injuries, but he still looks not-ready-for-prime-time to me Makes some good plays if he's in the right place, but is behind the play and too many giveaways for my liking. I'd almost rather see Gaudette play as a winger on the second line, with Pearson or Leivo on the top line in place of Ferland. Its just preseason, no harm in experimenting, but I'm just not feeling it yet with Baer. I wish him well.
  16. Who is the hater? Unless you actually believe your poll questions to be possible. (Scoring the GWG in the SCF is possible I guess), then you are mocking the big strapping Russian, getting a laugh at his expense. How bout we show him your "poll" when he gets here?
