HIGGY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
This is the perfect game for someone like Zack to step it up and make a move. A huge hit, net presence, vocal. I'm not expecting it though.

The guys look like they been partying it up with Rob Ford last night
-
wow, now they're actually skating the puck back into their zone and handing them a scoring chance.

Its infuriating to me how the Sedins are treated with almost contempt by a lot of the refs at least compared to the other top players in the league. I do not know why for the life of me. The brothers seem well behaved on the ice for the most part, and don't complain when they get a legitimate hooking call. But its clear some, not all, of the refs are seriously whistle happy when it comes to the twins. Who can forget the call that clinched the series in game four overtime for the Sharks last year where Sutherland, the farthest away ref, called Daniel's check on Wingels a "violent shove into the boards". On replay you have to almost admire Wingels sacrificing his body by literally flinging himself into the boards after feeling Daniels arms. Hey he learned from the best diving team in the league. But its part of a disturbing pattern. The Sedins will be called every time they barely graze an opponents hips for hooking. And yet conversely other teams are allowed to cross check, slash, hook and hold them back multiple times every game. You would think these refs would start to admire these tough Swedes that just jump up right away and continue to fight. I for one am sick of the double standard of the refs treatment of other stars of the league.

Describe the Canucks performance so far with a movie title

Two girls one cup -
LOL But in all seriousness....to answer the OP (for the millionth time) .....YES! Now more than ever. He's the glue that holds the team together. Even Kesler cannot duplicate the chemistry that the TwinBurrrrrrr! line has.

The lack of secondary scoring is so glaring...
kilgore replied to Lui's Knob's topic in Canucks Talk
LOL You just had to quote yourself in order to dig yourself in further? Sorry to confuse you. The "/" is on the keyboard to indicate an either/or. I said, Kesler is/can be a premier defensive specialist...ie...Kesler had been primarily regarded as that and still is when used that way and can be primarily known as that in the future if he is used this way (instead of the expectation and pressure of being the #2 scoring threat) Its not that difficult for sober posters to understand, but then I saw your sig: -

No. Kesler is/can be a premier defensive specialist. He didn't win the Selke for nothing. That's part of the problem his role as the counted-on secondary lead scorer is confusing even him I suspect. He got to 41 goals when his game WAS defensive orientated. Like Burrows, his offense came out and developed as a result of frustrating and confusing the opposition into turnovers and chances at the other end. That's where it should start with him. He could be a bonafied 3rd line elite center OR if he wants to evolve into more of an offensive threat he'd be better as a 2nd line winger. I'd have liked to have seen what a Higgins/Hansen - Hodgson - Kesler 2nd line would have done. -

You describe a very good 3rd line center. A defensive specialist who can score 20-25 goals. Which is what Kesler could become. Yes he's a good player, but that goal production is no where near the expectations his salary demand of him. I did say a budding Vezina trophy candidate. Not a definite winner. But anyone who watches a lot of hockey can see with their own eyes his potential. Not just his talent stopping pucks, but his demeanor and mental strength as well. Yes "If he plays like a "premiere defensive defenseman" then he'll have earned it". But what separates the great GMs from the mediocre is their ability to recognize those qualities BEFORE he has reached unsignable heights. Talk about "wouldn't fit under our cap"! Sign him when you can fit him, not after. He is one of those rare players that a GM should even over-pay if he has to early on, because it will only bite him in the butt later on when the player catches up and surpasses his salary peers in the league. my mistake. I had thought Booth just made it back out of injury before the buy-out window closed. -

Damm you DeNiro and your kumbaya positiveness. We're trying to vent here! -

This team feels like its going backwards. Kesler. Its natural to try and look at the glass as half full, so we were all excited when Kes won the Selke and noched 41 goals and expected that this was the new normal. We would now have two great lines for years to come. But injuries as an excuse can only go so far. Its obvious now that he is an overpaid 3rd line defensive player that should only be relied on for 20 - 25 goals. Burrows is a more valuable offensive player. I don't know what it is with Kesler and his makeup. He seems arrogantly confident, which can be a good thing, yet it rarely shows on the ice in the last few years. Reminds me of Luongo when he first came to the team. Lu backed it up in his first two seasons at least. He does NOT use his linemates very well. I don't know why he ever became a Center. He's getting Sedin type money FFS! He should be expected to shine as much every night as do the twins. All this talk of "when Kesler will finally show up". Maybe he's already here, and that 41 goal season was his one freak peak year as a lot of NHLers have before tailing off. I think everyone including media fawning all over him and excusing his production as him simply being in a funk does him a disservice, and puts undue pressure on him. Gillis. He is fast becoming more known for his RE-SIGNINGS than for his acquisitions. Big deal. Most players, once settled in a new city, would rather try and come to terms with the team and stick around. And one glaringly "my contract sucks" bad re-signing that resulted in yet another rash move of us losing our best goaltender, one that we groomed for almost 10 years into a budding Vezina candidate for a rookie project. MG has made more TRADE-DOWNS than TRADE-UPS. Or simply lost them to free agency. I don't have to list them all as they've been talked about ad nauseam already and its frankly depressing to go over it again. Add to all that his "always the bridesmaid" situations...Torres, Schultz, Clowe... And the one gem he finds like Tanev he can't even re-sign him to more than one bloody year?!! Tanev is fast becoming a premier defensive defenseman in the league. Enjoy him this year folks, we may not be able to afford him after that. He, like Schneider, are players that should be recognized early as players you do everything you can to keep. As far as Schneider, I don't care if Lu would be steaming, MG could have kept both and had Lu fight for his starts with Cory coming into his prime. Buy out Booth (if Lu's was too rich) and use more youth instead of scrub pick-ups. And still keep trying to trade Lu for ANYTHING, or NOTHING other than ridding the team of a sucky contract even, during the year. Gillis was God for his first years here but he has since proven he is in over his head as agent turned GM. -
You wouldn't even have to make them the second line immediately. But of course you re-sign them. Eventually as Kassian, Horvat and Jensen and maybe a surprise or two develop like Shinkaruk, the twins will anchor the best second line in the league!. We gotta have a little faith. We still also have Kesler and Burrows as well. Who knows if and when the Sedins accept a second line role it may be the best thing for them, they work their magic not having to face the #1 opposition checking line and the pressure is off of them to some degree. I also agree with others that what they need most is help from the other lines in scoring and toughness to get through the playoffs. I really hope Gillis's "turn the other cheek- we'll get'em on the PP" philosophy has jumped the shark now that we are in the Torts era.

[Official] Canucks coach talk. Keep all talk here.

I'd love to see him forced to stand up for his top line in the press. LOL. Two Swedes and Ron Macleans punching bag. Lolongo would be staying, and Bieska would rule. -
edit...oops wrong thread...

Did I say your name wasn't? Ok, so now we get to the bottom, and I do mean bottom. There's only one thing more assinine than the original clutch,...... who still thinks its funny to call the Sedins "the sisters" but who I'd give a tiny mulligan to because he did start this thread just as Alex was establishing himself......and that's a clutch groupie wannabe who seems to have the same smarmy mouth on him.
-
OK, this is very confusing. It seems like there are two accounts for "clutch". If you go to the profile of this poster: You get this profile with a +505 rating http://forum.canucks...r/91064-ciutch/ Yet when you use this post: You get this profile with a -1327 rating: http://forum.canucks...r/31963-clutch/ I didn't think this board allowed two identical handles. Its like one is the original and one is a charlatan. Or clutch has started two accounts and flips back and forth? Like Jeckle and Hyde. It would be good if a moderator would explain. Also clutch (Hyde), 2001 called, nice... calling the Sedins "the sisters".... trying a little too hard to troll.
-
How do you? Tell me why you'd take on a poison handle like that? Whenever you post half the people think you're the biggest idiot in CDC history, and the other half just think you're being a little richard. Its like changing your name to Hitler and moving into a Jewish neighbourhood. I don't get it. Unless........this actually is the original clutch and your playing a 3 dimensional chess game on us all. I will say that this is definitely the most IRONIC thread on this board. The first word that most Canuck fans would use in describing Alex Burrows is the same name as the handle that started this thread.
