  1. How loyal are NHL'ers?

Imagine the US economy/$ crashed, & it's no longer the world's reserve currency? Brit Central banker Mark Carney suggested this, just after the G7 debacle in France.

Say the Russian/Chinese currencies went ballistic..would pursuit of Lord Stanley still mean as much?

How many hired guns(w/ a Jagr spirit) run off in pursuit of whatever currency runs the whole show?

They've suggested SOME currencies might even be backed by gold, someday.

NHL would be affected by world economics more than any of the 4 major NA'n sports, I'd wager.

@Nuxfanabroad  As for the gold standard, short of a plague wiping out 90% of the world's population, there will never be a return to the gold standard.  There simply isn't enough gold.

The closest thing to a gold standard that has a shot would be a resource based standard, but I can't ever see that happening either.

A central world bank consisting of the world's biggest economies is possible after the USD finally crashes decades from now.  That however creates it's own problems though not least of which being that a one world government would eventually and inevitably follow.  I don't know about you but I'd rather not live under a government heavily influenced by the Chinese and Russians.

@luckylager  I'm going to dismiss the conspiracy stuff and comment on your original statement.

Nobody has to make a move on the dollar.  They just have to wait it out.  Eventually the US is going to have to do one of the two things I listed earlier.  That's when other countries (likely China) will pounce in to become the new world economic superpower.

Fortunately that's likely decades away though and I'll be scattered ashes by then.
