Bos, Chi, SJ & TO need a taxidermy-list. -
Island honeymoon, after you marry on the ferry?! Sorry, prob watched The African Queen one too many times
-
Holy-Jumpin'..appears 99% of the boards gotta' Napolean-complex. Let's just call him Dirk-the-Digger & silence all the naysayers!
-
Still haven't been able to properly view this kid in a live game(only get NHL), but he sure seems like a beaut. I wonder could he be a Russian version of JT Miller ?! :^) Him & Tree should give our squad more confidence & push-back.

Melnyk, Sens Wound Up Looking Like Geniuses
Nuxfanabroad replied to Nuxfanabroad's topic in General Hockey Discussion
This will be one interesting outfit to keep an eye on. How quickly will their youth hit the ground running? They certainly won't be pushed around, with all the size they've acquired. In that dept, don't think any of the other Cdn 6 will test them. Very similar to our squad in 2 ways. Lots of young talent coming, to be excited about. Then about 20+ mill(expiring UFA's) coming off the books at season's end. In a coupla' yrs this team will be a monster. -
Let's just say this dedicated prospect has a slow & gradual, step by step trajectory, that takes several yrs to finally reach his ceiling(say at 26 to 28 yrs old). In a cap-world, don't we need a good number of them types too?
-
Have to keep him healthy at season's end. Shouldn't be too hard, as this periphery-princess has never thrown a hit, or gotten his nose dirty. Opponents know how to play Eriksson perfectly..they NEVER hit him hard. That way, he's always a healthy(non-LTIR) albatross that Van must suffer with! Them dirty scoundrels. Anywho..keep this schmoe healthy(in pressbox?) as the campaign winds down..then, BUY HIS A$$ OUT!!!
-
Agreed..this reeks of a league-engineered deal. They've gotta filter back picks to the Desert Mutts after the ballyhooed punishment. Ottawa is just another Cdn lackey, under league thumb. EM either wants league assistance in downtown arena, and/or approval of the MOST profitable team sale he can sniff out. Unattractive bed-mates.

If a comma makes him lethargic, imagine what a period might do?! :^O

Thanks for that..great cast/show. Marilu Henner was such a 70's babe!

Surprised there ain't more conv/spec on the potential lineup/taxi squad..although of course there are so many variables to consider. Taxi squad: Will we push some old vets to this no-man's land ? Is that more cap-complicated? Any posters feel they got a handle on this one? Just skimmed the outline plan that the league has for this area. Guess the best question for Van now being, do we shuffle more older/younger players into this particular sideline?

Nice to see others suggesting ED exposure for our D-giraffe. Had posted the same a few mos. back, & a couple CDC'ers immediately had a bird. Myers is okay, but at his price we'd do well to acquire/develop other alternatives. Not sure Seattle would even nab him, if exposed. Of course it depends upon the other pieces they select.

Ohh, These Conveniently Timed Injuries...
Nuxfanabroad replied to Nuxfanabroad's topic in General Hockey Discussion
Prior to their first Cup? They had a lousy contract with a 'tender Huet, I recall..yet they could magically have his cap hit disappear as they 'transferred' him to some remote hockey-hinterland(France? or was it the Himalayan League?!) I've seen plenty of mulligans granted, until league darlings get their grubby paws on the sacred trophy. That chalice Lord Stanley supposedly donated to league champ of the game/country up North. Folks are all entitled to their opinions, & I've longggg lamented how rigged the game has become. Back in the 80's a Champ could come from anywhere, & at least you could trust everyone had a fair shot. My opinion is, past 3 decades they've rigged odds one way or another. Has become extreeemely difficult for a Cdn team to win it all. Unacceptable considering the % of rev, passion & dedication Cdn fans have always attached to the game. I hardly watch other teams now. Mostly just the Canuck tilts, partly out of nostalgia for youth, & a time that all teams apparently played on a level surface. -

Ohh, These Conveniently Timed Injuries...
Nuxfanabroad replied to Nuxfanabroad's topic in General Hockey Discussion
They pulled this injury(right up to PO's) routine with Kane..was it 2015? League could've figured out how to cover this loophole, if it wanted to. -

Still they'll waltz into a PO spot, then have a loaded roster injecting a rested, top-10 talent. They get to keep their all-star cast, not bleeding assets(as any Cdn entry would wind up having to do). Many posters were speculating the talent TBay would have to lose, but Van might wind up landing the most valuable piece they had to sell(18 mos back). -
Boychuk, Steen, Kuch..the list goes on & on. They suuure leave some gaping loopholes that privileged US markets always seem to happily exploit. Not surprised..have been predicting this ruse would occur, from months back. At least a cap-system keeps team-expenditures relatively close. Recall watching a Finals game(just a period or so) early millennium..Detroit was around a 100 mill & the Canes looked like an AHL star-squad(perhaps 15-20 mill total?) Such a disgrace watching orgs buy Cups back then, in Buttman's rigged US deck. Almost 3 decades now, they've rigged things one way or another.

NHL season to start Jan. 13 with 56-game season
Nuxfanabroad replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in General Hockey Discussion
Twisted arm patting my own back, for having NOT bought a stitch of merch, since the pre-net, dark ages. Screw'em..upon the gross, distorted, billboard-of-life, they nailed themselves, grovelling for filthy lucre. At a time in history where so many have even lost their way to earn. Many have lost hope. So damn lame. -
[Report] Oscar Klefbom out for the season
Nuxfanabroad replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in General Hockey Discussion
Too much uncertainty at this pt, CS. I'm starting to think the overpaid superstar is more trouble than anyone estimates. Our biggest issue is to make sure EP & QH are as affordable as poss. EDM & Laffs are cautionary tales, & the current scenario may assist our books, in the end -

Coilers starting to resemble last yr's Laffs. Expect they try to deal with them Caniac-weirdos. Too many good D to protect at ED -

Very concerned our players will be disproportionately-punished by DOPES(Dept of player's excellent safety), for a sudden hackin' cough over in the corner. Should our guys even de-mask on ice?!?
