  1. I'd long lamented the exponential-boom of tech in our lives, but it also makes me feel like the ultimate hypocrite. Been pretty dependent upon the home pc, the past decade+ Canucks games & CDC, music, documentaries, fav alt news sites & blogs, chess.com...it's enough to turn a guy into a hermit crab! But I've been blessed with a lovely wife, & great kids, now in their 20's. I miss Canada sometimes, but life in Japan is pretty awesome. Greatly admire & respect the people here. You play the hand you're dealt, & this is where I'm meant to be. Also cycling/camping trips in nearby mtns is my ultimate, peaceful getaway. edit: btw, nice thread/question @Rush17 !
  2. Franchise has possibly become the worst nuclear waste dump in NHL history. Should send Matthews there :^)
  3. With marginal Max & Griffin's vertical-plummet, it may soon be time to place Rhinos on the highly-endangered list.
  4. 'Twas many yrs back, but I used to enjoy the Gross Grind on the Dell Hotel dance floor...
  5. Well, we've all been waiting on this kid, but these pwf's can take longer. The cheaper, younger talent(some w/size & grit) aging up, should light a fire under his @$$. Then there's pressure from players above him. He either cuts the mustard, or becomes a low-cost, Tuna-sandwich. C'mon JV..time you woke up & smelled the Nescafe, laddy!
  6. Expecting that Chimp to start yodeling in some Swiss-inspired, maniacal fashion. Sorry, but with title I assumed JB was being extended...
  7. & I'd front the fritter & coffee to fully fuel your fine argument!
  8. Having 4 sacred cows & 20 underpaid-filler is like a prime penthouse built atop a derelict building. The Jenga Tower continues...
  9. So that's no problem. you simply demote LE, then buy him out. I'm sure the two GM's must've talked about such options..if there are no takers for the scrap, we should be okay to work around it.
  10. Yeah, we send TWO top-6's!!! & bubbling, immovable nuclear waste for colour, throwin shade & random junk.
  11. If it's NOT peanuts, you simply hold out. Demote him for the yr, & buyout with 1 yr left. If OTT realizes you won't play ball, the offer could improve. ^That's my read on it. Could be wrong, of course. But I see this as a game of chicken, more so between the owners, not the GM's of the 2 teams.
  12. Sorry I haven't been reading the small print here(just skimming mostly) But I'm of the opinion a contract like LE's has value to a guy like Melnyk. Hollowed-out(more AAV-hit than $ owed), thus enabling him to reach a false floor. None of us knows precisely what it will take, but the result could be surprising. Still think if we take back contract(s) with REAL dollars, something could happen. But that then begs the question..would the Aquas accept such a deal? Who wants major $-commitments in such an economic environment?!
  13. JaketheDullard, BroLouiE & OJ Connor Brown, Colin White & Jaros Let's do it! :^)
  14. A general assertion, which of course takes yrs to prove/disprove. A frequent problem, as we(mostly) all like to project lineups well into the future. I'm assuming Big Nik returns..at what price, who knows? But would much rather have him on the blueline, around 2 or 3 mill. Also have high hopes for Woo, but that'll take time. As contracts start coming off the books, who knows what other rhd-opportunities will be presented? Schmidt came outa' nowhere. Why did Myers become a penalty-magnet, when the games got bigger? Is it partly due to a corrupt league/bogus officiating? Sure possible with today's NHL. We needed SOMEONE back there, so I don't regret his contract. But I'm sure not sold we'll be happy with it in the future. Anyways, it's for JB(& the gang) to decide these things. With ED approaching, they might get a more ideal fit. So many moves will be occurring.
  15. Music to my ears. I'd like to give this post a +1,000 !!! Back in the 90's, wish there were more such voices. We were lured into this VenusF***ing-bug trap, by the false promise of the yanks' leading technology, big money & TV networks. In broad daylight, they've stolen the Cdn cultural pastime, that once united the country, coast to coast. Was so much better in the 70's & 80's, when a Champion could come from either side of the border.
  16. Thanks, KH..is this a number-threshold? Forget how this works.
  17. If Karlsson & Costmar can surpass Madden(over multiple yrs) it's a real nice bonus.
  18. This sounds good. As for old BS..gettin' tired of hearing about that wonky groin. Never could get a full season outa' the bloke.
  19. There are exceptions, but most US commentators don't know how to call a decent game. Shrill voices, overly excited as if they're trying to sell some marginal product, having just returned from a 3 day, biblical Am-way convention. Then the too much cola-commentators gotta chime in with ludicrous hyperbole, replete with lousy, predictable references & punch lines, as they all revert to chuckling HS guy-banter. But yeah, exceptions..Brendan Burke for example, is what I'd call one of the better young voices calling a game in style. Now he does the NYI regional-gig. This Emrick guy I found rather irritating..but I may have mixed his call with 4 or 5 other nasally, hyperventilating carnival barkers from down there. Calling a game properly is a fine art. Jim Robson should've been nominated Professor, at some specialized college course that all hopefuls(esp US ones!) are forced to attend. Oh yeah..happy retirement, blah x3
