  1. The Japanese have an interesting old saying: "To forgive the unrepentant is like drawing pictures on water."
  2. Wouldn't call it "hate". By then we'll have gotten 2 yrs of service, & it's appreciated. But as this team is on the rise, figure we'd be better throwing that 6 mill into different areas. Can't say where player opportunities will arise. For example, I'm sure no one called Schmidt arriving for acquisition-peanuts. For a rebuilding team, timing lt cap-commitments is so crucial. Yet it's also a rather debatable, inexact science. We have way too much $ allotted to our lineup-depth, most would agree. Prob they didn't expect such a quick resurgence. Talents like EP & QH rocketed past projections of almost all puck(GM type) experts. But these vet contracts are off the books in 1 or 2 seasons. One pattern I notice quite often. A team will get 75-85% towards completely revamping and/or reconstructing their roster, then they'll go & louse it up with some silly contracts. Irrational exuberance? Prob excitement from having finally turned a corner. Whatever the reasons, the COVID thing(economic-strangulation) & expansion-planning might have actually arrived at the right time, in Van's case. At this key juncture we've been forced to plan ahead smartly,(& write up wise contracts), just as perfect pieces are being snapped into a team-jigsaw.
  3. So the Vegans took Sbisa out of our vice-grip? Hey, thanks for the cap-help. Then we later pluck Schmidt from their D-corps. Cap assistance returned. Not too shabby. Hopefully we'll duplicate this efficiency with The Kraken.
  4. You're right, this article is spot-on. Thanks
  5. Man, is this true. & some thought it was a good idea at the time!
  6. Some day Ian Clarke's masterpiece, crowning achievment? From an ECHL mud-fish to The Dominator 2.0, 1st ballot HHOF, shoo-in!
  7. Well SLap me Willie, & call me Sami! Ohhhh, that's reelGud!
  8. Mgt doesn't seem to be frenetic over the situation. Could it be they have a secret strategy to untangle this morass? Perhaps on the verge of the season, BroLouiE's gonna get surgery, & enter LTIR status. Could see a pioneering hands-transplant in the cards(that Luke Skywalker operation). Let's all stay tuned here...
  9. Not sure this is good for Van..actually don't think it is. That said, this would be pretty cool, & I'd be on-board.
  10. Don't want THAT drama queen within' 1,000 km's of our fine youth! KAIBOSHED!
  11. No it's a floggin' for that Tuna-Scallawag! ARRRRRRR!!!!
  12. Public flogging with the cat-o'-nine!
  13. I would still revisit this one..but they'd have to retain some on Zaitsev. Chlapik & Jaros would be okay..maybe we send back Gaudette? For the 25-30 mill hit, bet owners wouldn't accept this, however...
  14. Cheer up Timra..we're on our way to The Promised Land!
  15. Would guess that'd depend how quickly the younger Lhd's get up to speed. Could see AE takin' small deals/depth role to stay with the team for a number of yrs..that'd be pretty cool. Guy could transition to a 60, 70 annual gp player-coach type of contributor. What an asset if injuries hit.
  16. His agent perhaps more clever than MAF's?! :^) $eriou$ly, congratz to the lil' Tasmanian Dev. He's earned his pesos!
  17. Yeah, understandable. Don't wanna sidetrack your topic, but would prefer we get cost-certain(suffer through 1 more yr of expensive depth), while taking a good look at many of the youth.
  18. I don't see a deal here. If Habs are confident of a strong return in this current market, someone else should stumble into that. This little guy plays with tenacity, but multiple injuries will soon leave a toothless-tiger. Steer clear.
  19. 2 2nd's from the Vegans to the Blues They all need a mighty strong dose of humility in that gambler's snake-pit. Such penalties^ & we can forgive them for sneakin' out on the ED!
  20. Indeed, & media/hecklers would be laughing hyenas, but who cares, right? One more nice, higher selection might be an asset we all one day really appreciate. I mostly saw the PO's(after ousting Mild) as gambling with house-dough. If this next season gets off the ground, will see it the same way, I guess?(mostly just enjoy, with minimal expectations)
  21. Thanks for that article. We don't know the amount of overlap, between KHL finishing, as the NHL is(perhaps 2 or 3 mos?) underway. Just hope the NHL adjusts accordingly, so players from over there can still join in-season. If that were the case, by that juncture we'll prob have skaters(at least 1 or 2) on LTIR. We'd prob be able to squeeze in a 2 or 3 mill contract, with about 50% of season to go.
