  1. Rather trade other young stars before trading Demko.
  2. I'm quite concerned if they do deal Jake, he'll report to the wrong camp by accident.
  3. Felt his excellent play was marred by other things. Stuff we've all heard about Schneids, for example. Didn't like the public trash he threw at Backes(& was NO fan of that guy) either. As a Van fan, proud when players carry themselves like the twins, Hamhuis, Edler, CT, Bo & Elias. I'm really glad JB has made character a major priority.
  4. Whoopee! Every hilite the past couple yrs, the guy looks like a drunken hobo in net. Sophia Loren woulda' been "on my list" back in the 60's!
  5. Had they stayed in Quebec, very unlikely Habs woulda' dealt them their star 'tender, Roy, of course. Imagine the Nords had better ownership, & $ situation was fine. So they stayed in Quebec City. Then imagine they didn't pawn off their young stars, & Lindros would sign there. They keep most of their young, drafted talent. ^(all hypothetical, purely for the purpose of analysis/comparison)^ **************The Key Question************** Would they have done as well over the upcoming decade(winning 2 Cups, as the Avs)? I bet most will argue they wouldn't have done as well. In their case, trading off them young assets was likely worthwhile. Of course mostly due to the Lindros return. But also dealing off Thibault, Rucinsky, etc... It's a cap world today, but I think we might be approaching a similar juncture
  6. It's hunky dory to me. Bro LouiE can ride AHL buses(if that league gets rollin). Then in 1 yr buy out the lump.
  7. Hey there DW! A true Captain goes down with his ship(& cue that cliche Jaws sound, despite your personal Power-Play ending! :^)
  8. I'd sign up for that, pronto. Trouble is, you gotta' expect Lou Lamo will receive all kinds of offers for that heavy shooting, large RhD. But yeah..toss our hat in that ring.
  9. Another aspect I'd neglected to mention, RL Figure rival GM's are holding JB over a barrel(currently) if he wants to off-load junk. But then say we let CT & JM walk to other teams, & it becomes obvious we can waltz through the cap-quagmire for a modest season. At that point I bet the offers(for the less severe albatrosses) will improve. So now is a good time to downsize, be modest & patient. A 2nd wave of moves(with COVID & ED other influencing variables) should bring better possibilities.
  10. Now we need to cram a candidate in for the 4th consecutive freeken' YR, eh?! That would be nice. Imagine if OJ suddenly went beast-mode?
  11. Would love to see 3 or 4 yrs, at 2.5 mill to bring NT back.
  12. Yes I would. Appears the alternative means we must part with valuable youth/picks, in order to jettison overpaid vets. Would prefer they exercise patience, even if it means a little regression for a yr.
  13. Got no huge prob with this. We had a good run with CT, & he's an awesome bloke. Hoping there's an indication here they intend to bring back Big Nik. There's a guy we need on the line. Be more affordable too.
  14. A 7th rounder that becomes a Datsyukian-type would be quite acceptable!
  15. Van needn't worry about wherever Jacob goes. Let's hope he gets an excellent contract, & ultimately can look back on a fine, lengthy career. He was lights-out for us the past coupla' yrs, & helped our transitioning crew get back to the PO's. Would like to see him get 6 yrs/40 mill some/anywhere.
  16. The gist of this thread is that we needn't worry about the ED. Other teams will likely lose much more. In fact, it might even provide impetus for a deal that proves beneficial.
  17. Hard for a Van fan to accept the Stars winning. Most of the fanbase surely remember the childish, idiotic way chump Benn & sleazy Sequin insulted the twins. Can't imagine such garbage ever completely forgotten. But then there's how the rigged system favours the Tax Break 'Ning. Pretty disinterested in this final
  18. No, quite agree. It's a good time to simply be decisive, & use the large savings in other ways.
  19. To clarify in case my above post left uncertainty, I mean bid Jacob farewell, & the best of luck, etc... I'm sure he'll get very well compensated(Flames, Avs, Canes?..some team), despite economic uncertainties, based on his past couple yrs' work.
  20. Solid posts deserving a bump. Lots of good nuggets in there gents.
  21. Was going to tweak the title, but then referred to my trusted, dog eared Oxford Dictionary. Yeah, there are umpteen definitions for the noun, model But this fits: 2. Simplified description of a system, etc... to assist calculations & predictions. Ah, yes, that's the ticket. Model it is.
