[Discussion] Eriksson for Bobby Ryan?

That's a cool idea, but you gotta' tweak & twerk a bit. Believe only max 50% can be retained(from up to 2 teams) on any contract. -
[Discussion] Eriksson for Bobby Ryan?
Nuxfanabroad replied to Provost's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
I've seen this idea kicked around a fair bit, (might have even made a prop myself?..forgettaboutit!).. With the COVIDystopia, it may have become even more plausible. Have to force BroLouie, with the AHL busses-ultimatum. Also tell'm some of his buds come along. If I were owner(or God for a day) I'd want some of their youth, when calculating how much more real $(or paper currency tp) is flushed down the metaphorical-loo. So then guess it's more worthwhile/logical to construct such a proposal from the owner's POV(as opposed to fans, or GM pov) With ED approaching, it's pragmatic to stockpile ineligible young assets. Ottawa needs character vets. So why not obtain from the Cdn team that just went the farthest? Guy's who've absorbed on/off ice mentorship from folks like the twins. Van: LouiE, Baer(800k retain), Virtanen, Stecher Ottawa: Bobby Ryan ..in 1 yr his buyout would be 3.5 mill & then 1.8 mill. Probably doable. Norris, or Logan Brown(future 3rd line C). I think Brown might be eligible for ED. Norris ain't, so he'd be more in demand Jaros ..big rfa, righty farm-style D. Coming off a mediocre campaign 2020 2nd (make it their latest one, so about 55 OA?) Don't know if I'd do this? If TT didn't sign, or BB was dealt(for a great return, only)..then maybe? -
Okay, Save the Laffs..PLEASE!

So Leapin' LouLamo wins top GM?! But..they decided to go with the kid, eh? What an utter travesty this outfit has become. How much has blown up in their face, over a fairly short period. Next I bet Babcock is hired by some eastern rival, who'll then beat them like a drum for several seasons. -
If the team were beaten up/worn down(after 2 tough series), no problem..even more reason to resort to young, rested(& sizeable) depth. Look how TD fared after having not played in months. Why must we assume the depth fwds were incapable? I trust JB found some good, affordable depth-blokes there, in summer 2019. What one perceives as "pretentious", another may term as bold. Important to maintain a positive outlook, especially with such a young squad. What no one can deny, is not knowing 100% how the team would've fared had they utilized more depth. My contention is they WOULD have done better. I have no problem if any CDC'er here begs to differ. & it's not hindsight, as I'd suggested this tactic before game #3. Don't know how they would've done vs Dallas. Then highly doubt they could rumble with TBay. Whatever the case, it pleases me to think this squad could well have(w/ better coaching) made it to the final-4. Be very cool to see the JTMiller #1 placed in the high 20's. This series was a valuable lesson for our coaches. Use your depth.

Then there's JB voted #6 for GM of the yr. Hmm.. Would have expected he'd be higher. Imagine if he'd done all these same moves, thereby building a young squad out in that Metros*xualDiv? LouLamo signs a coach & makes 2 decent trades for the win? Ok..no ol'boys club meddling, we must assume.

VAN Ranked #3 For Prospect/Young Depth & Quality
Nuxfanabroad replied to Nuxfanabroad's topic in Canucks Talk
Hey man, It's a good question. I'll go out on a limb & guess 2 offers a.. something like Eichel. 8 yrs/80 mill Or b.. about 3 yrs at perhaps 8 mill per & then I'd guess Hughes is likely somewhere similar This is where it gets iffy for me. In the cap world, I'm not big on accumulating too many superstars. It's probably easier for a team to win multiple Cups with perhaps 1 superstar, supported by 6 or 7 high-end types. A deeep, large & fast lineup with solid, superior 'tending. I look back to Quebec/Colorado(early 90's) as a smart example that some GM today(maybe Sakic?) would be wise to learn from. I hope JB is reflecting on it. When they dealt away 3 first overalls(& due to various circumstances, not necc by choice), I think they established a formula that might be even more sensible in today's NHL cap parity. Injecting highly performing ELC's are like legal steroids. If a team drafts well, dealing away some young talent keeps the conveyor rolling. Anywho, sorry to digress :^) -
VAN Ranked #3 For Prospect/Young Depth & Quality
Nuxfanabroad replied to Nuxfanabroad's topic in Canucks Talk
Guys at the end of the '21 season, appears there's about $ 21,000,000 coming off the books. EP & QH would have to go full-on Gretz & Orr for offer-sheets to upset our apple cart. We just need to patiently stay the course, & cap-commitments end as we need to begin new ones. -

[Proposal] Loui Eriksson for Marc-Andre Fleury
Nuxfanabroad replied to Ilya Mikheyev's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
I don't know? Could see Fleury's agent goin' on some silly talk show claiming Van's front office sleep with farm animals..or something to this effect. After causing an uproar, he'll later say was jokin'round & just wanted to kick-start negotiations, etc... In short: let's not do biz with league-favoured, distastefully bullying, casino(insider) villains. -
Justin Bailey 6'4", 215 lbs. Skates like the wind. What's Virtanen(for example) got in spades, that this bloke apparently doesn't? We played the guy TWO games in Feb, for a total of 10:39 mins. How the Hell could we know what we have in this signing?! Were the bottom-6 sooo sensational(besides Motte, who carried the rest), that we couldn't take a gander at size/speed like this? Media goin' on & on what a grind this bubble-format PO was. How much more energy would the bottom 3 lines have had, had we inserted Big Mac, this guy & our 6'5" C, ghost named Graovac? Just cycle each guy & Louie in(1 or 2 games each) mid-series. Each time you take a different regular out. Then if it goes to game 7, guess what. Half your fwds would have only endured a 4-in-7 sched. Imagine the psychological-advantage that offers throughout the lines. Gee, you might get more than 15 shots! Or should coaches just stand there in a suit, opening the gate? We squandered that series. It was there for the taking!
