[Proposal] Vancouver TO goalie swap
Nuxfanabroad replied to JM_'s topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Be better off making this kind of deal with the Canes. TO & Canucks are too similar in held assets/deficiencies. Van: Jacob, Jake V, farm piece Canes: Riemer, Fleury/Bean, a 2nd rounder(if JM signs) -
[Proposal] Let us look at the next year, honestly.
Nuxfanabroad replied to J.I.A.H.N's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Pretty good, JIHN. To blow up the boards/thread, wonder what NJ would send us for QH? Van : QH & LouiE the albatross NJ: #7 OA pick, Severson, Bahl, 1 more piece(either Ariz 2020 1st; or NJ 2021 1st) Don't know if I would? & folks will freak, but it's the very definition of "selling high". -
TD. Unbelievable

Don't see that "problem" as traumatic as many have made it out to be. Compared with many other orgs, would see it more as a short-term inconvenience. Also think there are many ways to skin that cap.

Awesome! Maybe Perron's the Dwarf Toss?

In order to build a champion we need faith in something. I'd go with skill, speed, size & youth. Many of these elements we already have, in spades. Over the next 18-24 mos we can blend the finishing touches in. Therefore I wouldn't dump young assets/picks to rush this. Two yrs flies by, & by then we're experienced, primed & ready.
-
It's another option, but I wouldn't after what we just witnessed. You might be selling off Hasek(without the quirks), as he's stepping onto the Yellow freeken'Brick Rd. At this pt savour the typhoon/twister, thanking the puckGawds you concussed yer noggin' & roll with this kid!

Making this short & sweet. Let's go with TD. I've never seen such cool-headed 'tending under such conditions, in almost 5 decades of watching the game. I'm talking exhibiting skill, athletic-prowess, incredible reflexes, textbook-technique, nerves of steel, & the stamina to display it all under the duress of 3(utterly dominated) games in 4 days. This was the ultimate baptism-by-fire(ing-squad). Sign him now to 3 or 4 yrs x 5 mill. Allow Jacob to go get 40, 50 mill on the open market(which I'm sure he will). It's time the org says goodbye to the 32 yr run of the incredible Trev Linden 1988 selection. Has there ever been better return on 1 1st rounder?(debatable I s'pose) Put the $ where the mouth is. If you agree we run with Thatcher(go on record) & give'er a plus.

2019-2020 End of Season Appreciation Thread
Nuxfanabroad replied to ruilin96's topic in Canucks Talk
Jacob's small injury was a huge blessing in disguise. After these last 3 tilts, the franchise knows we potentially have a 'tender-superstar waiting in the wings. We wouldn't have known this, had JM played out the series(say, losing in 5 or 6). With the coming cap-squeeze, this turn of events is a Godsend. -
[Proposal][Chat] Markstrom or Demko or Both ?
Nuxfanabroad replied to AriGold2.0's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Best comparison(situation) I can think of offhand, would be TBay a few yrs back. They let Bishop go & went with the younger guy, in Vasilevsky. I think we should do the same thing. This isn't JUST basing things on 3 games. We've been grooming this gt since 2014. & these 3 starts have been historically EPIC(J Plante level). If they could, would prob lock Thatcher in(asap) to something like Hellebuck's deal. Markstrom has huge talent. But the composure TD exhibited was otherworldly. We neeed a second alien back there. Due to COVID(& coming ED) can't dither. Let Jacob go nab the huge payday he's earned. -
Canucks lined up for 5 games in 7 nights - what’s the goalie scenario?
Nuxfanabroad replied to EP40.'s topic in Canucks Talk
This might have been the most important thread in the past coupla' wks. It's possible this amounted to the difference. We simply didn't trust our depth enough, in a situation where it was absolutely mandatory to do so(5-in-7, of PO-intensity puck). Look at Dallas today, with that Kirivanti kid playing hero Should try to learn lessons from this. Give the farm kids more of a chance(eg: mid-season call-ups usually get a few shifts if lucky). Seems we never give 5th liners a chance, to discover what we have in our young depth. Too conservative & stuck in old routines. -
Tragic typo eh?
-
Nice to see folks coming around on JB. He just needs a couple more twerks(here & there) & this team will be soo sexy!

Thank you, kindly sir. Ftr, you are the first person to say that. & I've been wrong about PLENTY of things(in life, & this crazy game we all love). Now that ONE poster has done so, I'll gladly STFU :^) But this to me is about honesty. Cos' I've honestly been asking, why can't we use/trust our depth? & it's not just this coach..it's longgg been a recurring theme. Like to give TBay's Cooper a shout out, in this context. Sure they've got overflowing talent. But I bet that guy would use all his horses, no matter his lineup/team.

These past two games were too frustrating. Had to stop watching. Last Friday I posted: Start Jacob on Sat, & Thatcher the next day. They KNEW they had to go 5-in-7 days. This was an absolutely amateur coaching call. @debluvscanucks We'd discussed this in that Friday thread. You can't even expect cargo camels to endure the load they were asking of these 20 guys. WHY are we allergic to utilizing depth?! It's a Fr***ing asset, not a bottle of strychnine! We upturned lifestyles of 30 young guys(asking & expecting absolute commitment), yet treat 25% of them like dust bunnies under the bed. Sorry folks..this one's done. Appreciate the young talent so much, & LOVEd their commitment & total effort. But this foot we've blown off was a mighty stupid time to play Joe Pesci games with a pistol. Self-inflicted wound.
