Gonna rush through this..almost 3 AM, time to crash. League should adjust buyouts for teams(alter/tweak CBA, due to COVID) Standard buyouts are 66%, over double the remaining term, right? To this I suggest quadrupling the AAV cap-hit, or extending the term over 4 seasons, not two. Perhaps max buyout yrs are 2? Meaning the penalty is applied over 8 seasons. Simply: Player A has 1 yr left, at 4 million bucks. No bonuses. So usual buyout is 2.4 mill over 2 seasons(1.2 mill AAV penalty, x 2 yrs). Suggesting they'd simply change this to a 600k penalty, over 4 yrs. Guy still gets his same amount of $$$. Just cap hit penalty is adjusted for GM/team. Too many cap-crunched teams for this upcoming offseason. It inhibits player movement & proper team construction. Is there any valid reason the league shouldn't consider something like this?

That's presumptuous, & it's best to speak for yourself. There's no "attacking" here..just differing opinions. In 4+ decades of following this team, this is the most relaxed/satisfied I have ever felt. I'm excited about the now, near & long future. Don't recall the team ever having all these angles covered. It's ironic, because there's been so much consternation over JB's handiwork. Personally feel those dimwitted critics could not see the beauty in his unique design/approach. When you suggest they won't be landing the big fish any more(from high picks), I feel it's partly missing the point. With JB's propensity to unearth quality throughout the rds, & potential trades to land more quality youth, strongly feel he has a system integrated/operational that will just keep replenishing. But that's just one opinion. So let's all relax in the la-z-boy & watch it all play out...

You're arguing about the barn door, after the stallions have long bolted. Might it be jealousy, as your Habs(although putting on a solid showing) don't have half the elite skill with their youth? Also notice you speak quite strongly against our young pieces(proposals on HF) quite frequently. You should perhaps relax about the Habbies, it ain't the late 70's dominance anymore. If you're posting on CDC, why throw cold water on folks' exuberance? What we've seen thus far is pretty darn rare & inspiring!

Hmm, so many of them HF'ers were whining endlessly about the Toffoli trade as well. That site looks more ludicrous by the day.

Haven't read comments yet, & don't know enough about the peripheral fluff around Kappy/the 1st. Just surprised they got this pick. It reinforces the notion I figure the league meddles in some team's deals. This might be damage control, for a rev sharing, $$$$ big league, sacred cash cow. They need to prop up Dubas as well. Supposed nerdy genius came out of this season looking like an overwhelmed, dopey schmoe. The Pens do as they're told. They've been bailed out/gifted stars to the hilt. League HQ(Hindquarters) prob also have compromising pics(kissing lasses on secluded tropical isle!) of Rutherford to keep everything on sched. Anyone who trusts the supposed integrity of this league, probably dreams about commuting to work on a Unicorn.

[Proposal] Virtanen to Montreal
Nuxfanabroad replied to D-Money's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
It's a solid proposal. You've outlined the reasons for both sides. Don't know if the two GM's see eye to eye. Have they done biz since Bergevin's public tears(Subban drama)? Hopefully Jake goes on a bit of a tear, to up his value. If this were offered at this point, I'd mull it over pretty hard. For me it'd depend upon how many other moves we can manage. Would like it if they can sort the cap-squeeze through 2 or 3 such deals. -
It's cool to read the tea leaves, but you're standing in the field wondering, before the plants have even grown. We need the dedication, to get the young guys "buying in" & signing reasonably. Requiring the vision, to know which ones to stick with, & which ones to recycle into other assets. So then one better have patience, for not every prospect(like OJ, for ex.) hits the ground running, at the same pace. Some privileged yank markets are given all kinds of mulligans. No one cares/remembers when their GM squanders assets. Or the league gifts them high picks, soft trades & an owner-of-the-month, cash rotation. It's no picnic to GM in a passionate Cdn market, when the whole league operation is overseen like a #riggeddeckCasino.

Before our time(heck, almost all of us), but you've gotta go quite a ways back to think of a classy comparable for our beauty, EP. From clips I've seen & what I've read, think he might become Vancouver's version of Jean Beliveau. Yeah, that's an absolutely legendary name, but EP has the potential to be that big in the game. Perhaps comparisons to Sakic, might also stand? We've really got something amazing here.

The Tyler Toffoli trade is busting hard for us
Nuxfanabroad replied to CanucksFan8353's topic in Canucks Talk
OP, see you're a fresh face. Perhaps visiting from HF? To possibly get a clearer perspective on Gent Jim's highest standard of GM'ing, why don't you stroll over to my February thread(JB in Historical Context). I don't wanna' be tooo critical of this here thread, maybe you're also new to the game of ice hockey?! -
Also glad we provided SFA for this privileged, golden child outfit, at the "expansion draft"(ha, that's rich). The league trying to sell Stanley Cups? What a farce. But yeah..gave them Sbisa! lol that was sweet. & the way it's looking, think we can protect almost all our key stash from the next Cup-sale candidates.
