Any chance Big Nik(& the Diamonds) have shaken hands with JB in agreement..but they've also agreed not to make it official until after the play-ins are done? Easy to see how this could prove distracting to the D-men who are playing for a slot/contract. edit: with the COVID-crunch..maybe two yrs at 2.8, or around 3 at 2.5
-
Yeah, I was a little irked at seeing how many vets they brought in over a succession of summers. However, had COVID19 not struck, think they woulda' shoehorned this whole lot. Another random musing is injuries. Look at all the hits(IR's) these vets took. Yet our youth have(touch wood) been able to mostly play. So the vets maybe took more than their share of hard knocks(while these drafted youth could grow & develop; either in the show, or other leagues). Vets ain't dumb..as they summer-pondered this reality, might take 10-15% more bucks to get their John Henry.
-
No, bet they try that avenue with LouiE. For Baer(& maybe a guy like Benn?) they'll pkg a few guys, including a decent prospect, to send to Det, NJ or Ottawa. Oodles of cap, & need some warm bodies.
-
Yeah, just a few. IBatch, take a gander at that list I quoted(atop this page)..how many of those do you figure make it to 300 games in the show? Figure it'll hit 20?

Just gets a THIRD consecutive ROY candidate?! That my friend, is downright crazy. Love it to continue..but we might never see this 6 yr stretch of drafting, ever again.

[Report] Lukas Krajicek announces retirement
Nuxfanabroad replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in General Hockey Discussion
The bad news is he ate a tonne of food, while in BC, of course. He went $ 2,342.00 beyond the accepted player's allotted food budget. So we get dinged this amount next season, due to the new caloric-expense, food recapture amendment in the NHLPA/BOG agreement. You might complain, but obviously we gorged on the intended "spirit of the CBA"! -
After PO's, make a deal with either Det or OTT. Attach Demko(& maybe OJ?) There's an HFpropsal from a Wings fan, where we send LouiE & Demko, getting back a Wings 2nd(something approx to this). Ottawa(Melnyk) want deals with lesser real dollars paid out(high AAV is no prob there). They will need some vets come Fall. Of course many GM's will be calling them. In our favour, the currency of our drafted prospects must be on the rise.
-
Even names like Costmar & McDonough might need to be added here..suppose time will tell. Good Lord folks..this IS ludicrous! It appears JB's approaching about TWENTY names, over 6 drafts, who absolutely should go on to NHL careers. Perhaps up to two dozen? Some ELITE kids, & almost all displaying solid character. How does JB take so much flack?!
-
Yeah, music to my ears. Happy to be dead-wrong heeding the tweets of that Cam Robinson character(heck, shouldn't have noted anything from HF Canuck page! my bad)

[Signing] Canucks sign Jack Rathbone
Nuxfanabroad replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
WTG..was NEVER any doubt! :^)))) Knock'em dead kid! -
This'll be interesting, KH. Kinda see the opposite occurring. If their 1st is on the line next season, suspect JB will dbl down with the vets & integrate youth more gradually. Everyone will be flogging 3-5 mill(ish) underperformers this Fall, & there'll be just a few choosy shoppers who scavenge through the marketplace mark-downs.
-
Don't like the 2nd deal, WCE. Miller was under a lot of pressure to perform & he paid off for JB in spades. Feel the team owes him a couple yrs commitment(at least). To ensure the first one goes down, I'd consider Demko & Hogberg thrown in. Prob can't hold him thru ED anyways.
-
It's slappin on the paint with broad strokes, but maybe... a, Advance to PO's, next season's outcome is less crucial. Plenty of past rebuilders have staggered winning seasons, with slight setbacks following. The team will trend towards youth, & lots of roster change will come from within the system. Perhaps 1 prospect would be sacrificed(maybe paired with a vet contract), for cap space, & perhaps an extra acquired 2nd & 3rd..maybe a KL, OJ or even pending RFA thrown in. b, No PO's, for injuries, poor play..whatever reason? They'll try harder to keep all key UFA's. Might even deal this yr's 1st, attempting to shore up the 2020-21 roster. Also could sacrifice a good young player/prospect(or combination) in attempt to beef up the D. This outcome lends itself to a busier Fall, with moves of greater ambition & magnitude(& more risk) Looking at the Fall moves from a mid-July pov, would say this play-in is a very key moment in the franchise's rebuild. Maybe bigger than most here realize. Forget that Laf-kid..let's get rolling!
-
For all aspirant armchair GM's out there, feel this is a fair question, perhaps encouraging some discussion as we await the start of these summer tilts. A- We flatten the Mild..thus, make PO's. & the Miller trade is fulfilled, opening valves & releasing the building pressure they might have(otherwise) experienced in the 20-21 campaign. B- Somehow are toppled by these Minni-Miscreants. Eegads! & the rigged deck L ensures we win no coveted #1(pick #12 OA, for discussion's sake). We all know, with draft, deals, injuries, buyouts, FA's & the like, Oct developments will be fast & furious. Does the above^ A & B outcomes decidedly change our Fall course of actions? With our given set of circumstances, I feel it should. How greatly would you vary the two? Interested to hear some insights & opinions... ************************************************************ *************************************************************************

No kidding. This burned my bacon to a degree that burned down the house. The league was rubbing it in our face, just how rigged their F***ing deck is. Karma will bite BB's *** some day for being a party to that underhanded garbage.
-
Well. the only posts of his I recalled were this very topic. Believe he was a lawyer(?) & I'd wondered if he & BB had any history of sketchy, acrimonious biz? At any rate, seem to recall there was some colourful stuff...

^Above post left me needing to hear John Eddie's, "Let Me Down Hard". great tune

[Signing] Blue Jackets sign Mikhail Grigorenko
Nuxfanabroad replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Welcome to the Grig-economy... -
No. Dislike Burke dating back to his Asst GM days(early 90's). Recall his arrogance listening to his wkly visits on Dan Russell's call in radio. The antics he's pulled since the Aquas canned him, pretty much verified my earliest opinions on the guy. Legendary poster "Wetcoaster" would often explain/lay out BB's dodgy history(particularly over the 90's). Enjoyed his posts/novellas on the subject.

For the hypocrisy-implication, that don't apply to all fans. Personally feel prospects should honour the team that drafted them..across the board.

So what..if he was a laggard-bum he'd desperately SIGN with whoever drafted him, wouldn't he?! No, hear what you're saying - but I'm not buying this. Broongoon reps have prob been whispering in his ear. This stinks(if he skedaddles), & the rule simply sucks camel dung. edit: & in this tech world(skype etc...), all should be factored. I'm sure the team would bend over backwards, helping him w/ his fam needs

Yeah, heard some reputable(Cameron?) guy twittified that this dude's not gonna be ours. It's horses**t! We need more decent leftys - just hate this NCAA cop-out rule. Look at the programs our great franchise is doing for causes like autism. for example. Kid should dance with the one who brung him! Almost like 4, 5 decades back when the privileged kids wanted to get outa' Nam-duty, eh? Handy college route. Anywho..if we knew about his family matters, we should've known where his team-loyalties lay.
