  1. Welll..this thread's gettin near as wacky as the mainstream...
  2. Why bother picking him in the first place?.. with the above^details, that couldn't have been top-secret
  3. Even if they threw in picks #3 & 5 OA, we'd prob have to brush them away. Do we really DESERVE seeing ******* Keith Tkachuk droppin by, violating Vancouver's natural beauty?! Just too costly!
  4. Episode 591 on the Roger Stone malarkey, & nonsense tweets from Pelosi The MSM don't care who they take down..only out to distract & dis-inform. Meanwhile a person like Assange is parked in prison. The Duran's 2 Alexes & 98-99% of their commenters are a 100% better source of honest insight.
  5. Playin' rope-a-dope to sleepy-'possum Squid & the Flightless Sea Birds...
  6. How I see it too. Weren't we 8th this yr in goals for?(with BB having a weak yr). How good will our offence be when we have a deeper D, & QH has some yrs of experience? Add to that equation, some impressive ELC wingers filtering in. It's better to produce with highly skilled C's, depth throughout lineup, & a financially-balanced roster.
  7. Bet they would for White!(he's owed 25 mill) We throw in a contract like Baer or Benn, to benefit on immediate cap space. Melnyk grins like Cheech
  8. I've seen(& made a few) variations of Ottawa deals. Then after all our key personnel are signed, I've considered using those Ottawa assets to pursue Risto, Pulock or some other sizeable, Righty D. If you hold 5 or 6 mill of open space this fall, I'm guessing a prepared GM will receive some ludicrously sweet deals, from teams desperate to create cap. It'll be a great time to have everything locked in/kosher, then wait in the weeds(with space).
  9. That has Ottawa all over it. On their HFpage: Boeser AND Eriksson NYI 1st(about 15) & 2nd, then Logan Brown(Jeff's kid, 6' 6", 225 lb C) I would pounce on that 12 mill cap dump!
  10. This might be the kicker. Agreed it's the time to act decisively(thinking present AND futures)
  11. After pondering this BB rumour since yest, here's the kind of deal I'd like to see. Other variables established: We win vs Minny, thus, give our 1st(in the 20's) to the Swamp Devils Big Nik & Rathbone sign deals in Vancouver. Jacob & TT inked; as well as RFA's AG & JV Van: Boeser, Baertschi, BSutter, Demko, OJ Ottawa: Colin White, Brannstrom, Hogberg, 2020 1st(from NYI, perhaps #15 OA pick?), 2020 2nd(say 45th OA), 2021 2nd(SJ Sharks pick) ^Don't know if we'd get both 2nd's..but being a Van board have suggested it ************************************ This deal addresses our cap crunch. Also next yr's ED(OJ would need protection, whereas Brannstrom doesn't) Demko likely ED-targeted, from our pov. Hogberg can bridge(as backup) to when MD is fully prepped White & Virtanen can jockey for 2nd/3rd line RW. The guy has 25 mill outstanding in real bux..betting Melnyk would like to flip his deal CWhite, being under 26, in worst-case scenario, is a very cheap buyout-option(adding value to this asset)
  12. That's news to me..are you sure about this?
  13. That's a mighty nice pick now!( #3 OA) Although they could be a partner with the 1st(NYI) they'll get from the Pageau swap.
  14. Buyout seems reasonable: 1.75 AAV next season, & only 800k the one after. Think we could stomach that.
  15. Thanks, quite informative. Just scanned about half the article, so far. Agree with these guys on their Boeser assessment. As a hockey fan, love to see a team keep adding speed, whenever they can.
  16. Can we get some solid parameters, so everyone here is aware/clear on what our(off-season) budget & potential moves will be? Yes we can all go to cap friendly & add/subtract. However the rookie bonus thing is a little murky, from what I've heard. Does any poster have a good handle on this? If we made NO unexpected swaps, how many of the 'Big-3' FA's could we expect to keep? Advance thanks should anyone take this plunge...
  17. There's nothing wrong with looking ahead(to Oct draft/FA simultaneous frenzy) on a hockey discussion board.
  18. It's called 2 rulebooks in the current US-NHL. Build a light team, they'll throw the whistle away. Build a heavier team(remember the Torts yr?! lol.. he lost it) say hello to 7 min 2 man disadv, as they call our knuckle-draggers for sneezing.
  19. It's pretty much always a succession of moves..I don't think a GM is ever done. Always develop/draft/trading towards something ____er(big, fast, young, deep, etc...) Of course you'd identify 6 or 7 guys(perhaps?) a GM would build around. So there are variables in answering your question. Imagine these things occurred, for example... - We win play in, & then 2 rds. All our RW's play well. - Big Nik & Rathbone sign - Toffoli will sign a 4 yr x 4.7 mill; Jacob a 5x5; Jake 5 yrs x 3 & AG similar Then I'd prob sell BB to OTT, Mtl, NJ, Buff, Det & Minny. Would anyone take on Sutter & Baer too? We take back a 1st, 2nd & decent prospect/depth fwd and/or D-man. ******************************************On HFboards, saw a NJ fan suggest************************ Brock & LouiE for Palmieri & 2 1st's(#11 & #13 approx). These are NJ & Arizona picks. ^That's pretty damned appealing. You could then prob flip Palmieri for a 2nd & 3rd perhaps?(he's UFA next summer) ^Such a deal opens almost 10 mill of cap, almost right away. Who knows if a team feels the same as some random HF fan? But it gives an indication of how BB is highly regarded.
  20. Interestingly over on HF proposals page, there already are 10 pages of offers/discussion on this topic.(from Sekeras spec) Seems Jersey, Ottawa & Minny fans are the most determined...
  21. In early Oct(after PO's, at draft) say you have a full roster & 5 or 6 million in open cap space. I honestly don't think many folks realize just how valuable that asset(5-6,000,000 $ in space) will become. Almost no one(who is competing) will have this. Scarcity drives value.
