Another Boeser Deal(Discussion)
Nuxfanabroad replied to Nuxfanabroad's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Given a bump in light of today's Sekeres rumour. -
Don't know, Pears? As you say, plenty of us were debating the merits. For example, a BB proposal I started in Feb has almost 3,000 views, with plenty of these familiar suggestions(listed upstream in thread) Helluva'lot better than 2013/14 when we had bloody barren shelves, & a team running on fumes!

& we all gotta expect the fire hydrant planted on EP's right would pot 20. Miller & TT were such a jolt for this crew, it's exciting to see the potential. Many W's will fly with the overall quality of our young fwd-depth. There are many ways this could go, but we almost certainly have to beef up our blueline quality/depth...

It's a smart move. You maintain a deep, balanced offence. You replenish the prospect pool with depth/more picks. You redistribute resources, shifting more to the blueline. You cash in on the asset's value(also marketability in his character & charisma - we've got more of that with our youth) You keep building towards Complete team-speed(one aspect BB can't really enhance) You get thru the next 2 yrs of a cap-squeeze

Thanks..I'd forgotten the details on which coach it was. Agreed, Gallant there was a complete schmoe. By chance, worked with that dude's cousin back in the late 80's. Sure knew how to kill a great moment..hope it comes back, as lousy on-ice karma.

They say this guy's a pretty Ruff ticket.

Hayes..JVR Skinner & Oksposo Bobrovsky TML drunken sailor-mode Desert Dawgs deals(& some recent draft-gaffes) EKarlsson deal(& contract)..Vlasic, Jones, etc... Pageau swap & signing. Look closely at NYI's cap scenario Could go on & on..throughout the league, there are countless, poor 4-6 mill(ish) contracts..plenty with lots of term to suffer through. At least most of our onerous(& odorous) hits are off books soon. Can only shudder to contemplate what would be said about JB, had he penned some of the above deals. There has been a fairly strident initiative from assorted Haterz to get JB kiboshed. It has been dbled, tripled, quadrupled(etc...) down on, to a degree usually the reserve of religious fanaticism. Such folks are too far gone to honestly acknowledge the errors of their predictive-past. Perhaps this uncorked haterz poison has a sobering effect, just from a glance. Think they've reeled in the spending, & are improving with contractual numbers/terms. Maybe some of our young stars will magnanimously accept reasonable deals, (with consideration of the classless vitriol that's been slung at JB)? I'd really like to see them keep this cast intact(namely signing JM & TT; big Nik too), & I'm optimistic JB will swing it.

Scores a GEM of a 1st ever NHL tally..assisted by the twins(in their remaining few wks), no less! Storybook, eh? Nah..has to be a review & someone's toenail is deemed offside. Seemed a harsh & petty, minor tragedy at the time. Them malevolent hockey Gawds can be cruel. Hope this kid gets a few yrs(multiple coffees, at least) in the show, & can put a few more in the net. Deserves a decent souvenir.

Reg S, PO's, Draft.. Dump It All For 2020
Nuxfanabroad replied to Nuxfanabroad's topic in General Hockey Discussion
Never wanted a thread prediction wrong, so badly. Jonesin' for some Canucks PO hockey, to the 20th degree. Hard to imagine them pulling this off, with media reports of COVID exploding in States. In Japan Aug/Sept is a heat/humidity nightmare. Be sooo sweet to enjoy PO's & beer, with the AC on 24/7. -
Also caught my attn..wondered if they're trying to help teams like Minny & SJ get off the hook(horrible contracts for aging zombies)? Not yet, but watch this potentially toxic-idea evolve into something that benefits(mostly US teams) franchises who've spent like drunken sailors. As well, spenders like the Laffs/Rags. can throw foolish $ at 35+ UFA's..does this help appease aging vets, who watch as bridge-RFA's are grabbing a larger portion of pie? Didn't someone once ask if ya can please all the people all the time?! ***************************BIG QUESTION!*************************** What will they do for soon UFA's for this summer's play-ins/PO's? Why would they agree to risk health? They've gotta throw this group a bone...
-
That's some good news, if accurate. I've long held faith & hope on this kid returning. Then if we could sign Rathbone & get solid development seasons for he, OJ & Woo..suddenly our blueline-youth is starting to show promising signs.

Reg S, PO's, Draft.. Dump It All For 2020

Increasingly skeptical they can get this all rolling. If it were sincere, they'd ideally isolate teams(small Cdn towns perhaps?) for camps covering most of July. Do they dream of the financial gain, yet hope to bypass financial-pain($ costs of cautionary-planning/logistics)? About 27 yrs back, a different virus afflicted the(mostly) Canadian NHL landscape. Call it the Bettman-influenza, which rendered these markets lame, ineffective & unappealing..especially for overpaid stars, desiring strong teams, low taxes & relative-anonymity. ********************************************************* Seems no small irony that compassion, dedication & understanding from these heavily exploited(3 decades worth!), smaller Cdn markets, could very well be the proverbial golden goose that the NHL Hindquarters(HQ!) scheisters, will likely turn to, being in their hour of need. Can remember the first time I'd heard of them getting GB from the NBA. Said right then it would be a disaster. Big $$$ & US economic clout/financial-bullying has completely shredded what was once a somewhat honest league. This whole fiasco feels like some form of belated, inevitable karma. -
Had them 7th in Conf, finishing with 97 pts. Then facing Flamers in 1st round. If Jacob didn't get banged up, would say this was a near bullseye.
