  1. Nice call, Alfer..but where ya at, laddie? Had to give the delaaaayed +!
  2. How lame this is. Someone wants to stretch their few mins of fame.
  3. Wanna spend my 20,000th post in a meaningful way.

Maybe a hardy YEEHAW when we wrap up a SC win in early Oct?!

Be cool if it was indeed 50 yrs from the day the Canucks got officially rollin'...

For 20K, go to the Youtube thread and post this:

Save 20,001 for when the Canucks hoist the cup :towel:

      post on the race protests

      or covid

these are 50 and 100 year events

      what could be more important

      or worthy of your milestone?

      for the record

      for my 7,780 post

      i disparaged anson carter's suggestion

that his lack of a nuck renewal contract

      was based on race issues

(so was on race, but not really in line with the race protests)

Also spent a post in that lame thread..but now must be Strategic, eh?!

  4. Calling it right now..they're making a mistake. Lock this kid in, if you can. 3-5 yrs, at 2.75 to 3 mill. Do it.
  5. As this league further exploits the Cdn sucker-fan, I'll be out. Will prob keep tabs on Van's situation, but I'll never support an untrustworthy league with $/time
  6. As long as they stay in Canada(Ottawa preferably). Love it if they get a new Cdn owner. Long suspected this dodgy league will use EM as the pretext to ship this team stateside - just while on the verge of great improvement(loaded with top youth).
  7. Should we win vs Minny Mild: PO's..cool, that's what they set out for, as last fall's goal. Great exp for young nucleus. The NJ 1st(from Miller trade) will likely take yrs to make the bigs, & this will further underscore the brilliance of the June 2019 deal. Should we lose: It's probable that the piece/pick we wind up with(from this draft; even maybe a lotto pick) will be better than whatever we would have gained from next season's hypothetical 2021 1st rounder. Also the 2020 pick will be closer in age to our young core. With both outcomes having their Canuck-merits, should make for relatively stress-free viewing.
  8. Ain't there some guff about not being able to re-sign UFA's to a 1 yr with approaching ED?!..I forget these details. On Tanev..pure class. But I def want re-signing for Markstrom, TT & the Tree to be top-priority.
  9. Yes Ran-barf is hard on the ears. Louie DeBrusk on the other hand, does nice, balanced colour comm. Has he worked with CC? Could be a decent tandem going fwd.
  10. Shout-out to PB. Hope he's doin well. Alf-er too..anyone heard if that bloke is alright?
  11. I'd tell you about Samuel Beckett(Irish playwright) when a journalist tried to arrange a congratulatory interview. Pretty amusing anecdote too. You may well be right, & it might be the most amazing pastime in the world today. It'll sound arrogant, but to me, that makes it even more important to avoid. Time is too important & precious to me now. For any of us who truly believe in "freedom", as it's pkg'd/sold/espoused, decisive control over one's time is perhaps the most important conscious decision. I'm ULTRA-wary to partake in anything that might become addictive.
  12. @luckylager Appreciate the offer matey, but I'll proudly remain a resolute dinosaur. Never used FB No I-phone No online porn(& I love the curves) Never dated someone from a virtual/net connection(happily hitched for 25 yrs) Last vid game I enjoyed was prob Donkey Kong Jr in about 1983, at the local grocery store In White Rock VERY p*ssed off with liberal "stars", Hollyweird, media, political types, most billionaires, socio/psychopaths & the lot... ...Didn't really like the way society was headed(from about the mid-80's)..& voted with my feet. Won't lie to you, it can be lonely & a bit of a drag. But cliff-wall fossils are not permitted the opportunity to whine. That would be unbecoming. There IS a measure of freedom in being 100 or 0% about all things one feels is important.
  13. -If sign TT we utilize the asset that was Madden, thereby creating more depth -We have other nice RW's on the way..& BB is not too speedy(if that's the team they want) -Will prob be hard to protect all key fwds(ED) anyways -Prob still selling high, even if his value has dropped slightly(from ROY candidate) ...it's not easy, bc he's obviously a very likeable, quality character. Yet these are some possible aspects, & it's a reasonable consideration.
  14. The pot stigma's still huge in Japan. Feel like I'll get arrested just appreciating these robust, verdant jungle pics. Nice thread, L2..w/ you in spirit!
  15. Ottawa could offer similar to the above pkg to the Flamers, for Matthew Tkachuk. Perhaps #5OA, Brannstrom & a 2nd r pick? With both bros, Ottawa might be able to sign long term a little more reasonably? Flamers get a couple strong young pieces, another ticket & cap-relief.
  16. Now I'm flashbackin' to that old(classic) Sapporo Ichiban ad. Used to come on HNIC(1980's), & seem hilariously outa' place! ;^)
  17. All this news is happenin'..nuthin' goin' on

Virus is a'cookin' - so test for watcha' got

All started back in ___(?), they're leadin' like Pol Pot!

Nobody told me there'd be days like these!(x3)

    Strange days indeed! x2

Now hopin' draft or tradin', no one makes a move

24 feel winners, 7 gotta' lose

Stanley needs engravin', so get this in the groove!

    (repeat chorus)

    Most peculiar 'Nuckers...ROLL!!!

we've been good, the wife and I have been doing great, we love spending time together so for us its been good actually. Our big worry is her parents who are both in high risk groups.

I wanted to ask - are there good skiing ares near Osaka? we want to go for another trip to Japan once the world settles down but want to make it a winter ski trip this time. Last time we did Tokyo which was great but we'd like to see more of the country this time.

Yes..also concerned for my wife's folks. This whole global-sh**show has sure made people look hard at what's important in life, hasn't it?

Skiing? Still haven't been in Japan..heck 1990 was my last experience! I heard Biwa Valley is alright. But this Kansai Area(perhaps comparable to Lower Mainland in scale) often has winters too warm. Be hard to time that.

Better to separately hit the famous ski destinations: Hokkaido, Nagano, or perhaps Yuzawa, Niigata. These mtn resorts are also famous for the quality of their food staples/cuisine.

Then hit Kansai for the sights: Osaka, Nara, Kyoto & Kobe are truly places of history, beauty & more. Have always enjoyed how different each city is from the other 3. I've taken the economy route..getting to know the region with backpacked bentos, riding on two wheels. Can't imagine a better country in the world for cyclists.

Rent bikes in Kyoto, & you & your missus will have a time. Then of course, try a nice onset resort(pricey, but memorable). Peace

That sounds fantastic. We were looking at some self-guided walking tours for part of it as well. You have to walk a place to get to know it.

  18. Been eating Japanese for 20+ yrs, but can't remember trying Cup noodles! :^O The Missus loves that stuff though..she snacks on that; I go with pasta. We often go to a nearby ramen shop(by the Hwy)..they also got all-U-can-eat Kimchi. Get a large draft beer(in summertime) & it's slurpin'-Utopia.
  19. These deal-patterns are interesting..because one could argue a high pick(& 3 yrs of ELC) has NEVER held such relative-value: - a strong, deep draft - a tanking economy & economic-uncertainty - An approaching ED, requiring hard protection-choices for top teams - Excitement over young prospects seems to be rising for almost all fanbases With all this in mind, there are gonna be some deals(futures, for TOP players) that'll likely knock our socks off. If Ottawa is sharp, they should sell some future treasures this off-season.
  20. Posting this for many reasons. IF we can get this campaign decided(2019-20), determine a champ, & move to off-season, I'll suggest these are two of the most interesting franchises to track draft/FA time moves. Their situations are near polar-opposite, suggesting they could be ideal trade-partners. One deterent is that they'll likely wind up pretty solid Div-rivals(when OTT finally turns corner). TBay is hooped for cap. They've also been generous with the NTC's. They have a nice problem of too many budding gems, & lack of roster/cap space. 76 mill/15 guys..with some RFA studs to sign. Ottawa has(or soon will) likely the best prospect/pick stash in the league. That, & a tonne of cap space. With all these picks/futures they won't have roster space to properly develop & insert all assets on sched. Seems a good time to consolidate & package quantity, for precise, positional-quality. Imagining Ottawa gets the #2 & #5 OA picks. Pick Byfield with #2, then... Ottawa: #5 OA, mid-2nd rd pick..#50 OA say, Logan Brown, Wolanin/Lajoie(choose 1) Cond 2021 2nd( if both RFA's sign) TBay: Sergachev, Cirelli, Paquette
  21. & you've convinced me, as well. Let's move a few more franchises UP here, eh?!
  22. Fair enuff & no problemski. We all do this trade 1000x over, if we're looking backwards & able to choose today.
  23. Now it's political & protest turmoil in the U, S, and A(as Borat would say). I just don't see this happening. But getting our hopes up, they kinda maintain some measure of hockey site-hits/interest. I'll be very surprised if there's a Cup winner for this season.
