  1. If a Tree signs in the Siberian forest, does anybody hear?
  2. Have to wonder if any rival teams somehow got in Bracket's ear with promises of a higher title, or significantly more riches?
  3. LouiE prob holds some value in Melnyk's eyes. - Responsible vet with yrs of exp. Family guy, etc... - 6 mill AAV, but only 5 mill owed(after his bonus is paid..when? July?) So pay him 2.5 mill x 2 yrs, but then get a 6 mill hit, helping to cheaply hit the floor. Now would LE waive his NTC for such a destination? Maybe he'll just retire after getting his bonu$ buck$?
  4. I've read OTT fans speculating Frederik Andersen could wind up there(after PO's) After bonus, only 1 yr left(5 mill AAV; only 1 mill payout...a Melnyk special). OTT might send Gaborik's hit(in pkg) to the Leaves. They can play their cap-shenanigans(exploit LTIR) since they're always swimming in that deep end...
  5. Trade it to Ottawa for the #3 or 4 OA pick. Maybe they add a sweet prospect, then take some junk contracts off our hands? They need like 25 mill to reach the floor, or something ludicrous...
  6. Hmm..the 2 dramatic scenarios(the main outcomes, at least) are still a possibility. Could be some summer excitement.
  7. Wouldn't play Ferland. At least save it a rd, until a possible PO-spot. If Van doesn't have a long 2020 run in them, it's a chance for this bloke to get(perhaps?) a full calendar yr of rest for his noggin. JTM - EP - TT TP - Bo - BB Roussel - Gaudette - Shotgun Jake Motte - Beags - BigMac/Sutter I hope Leivo can get back in full health..great on the boards.
  8. & do the draft next yr. Cxl the 2019 selections. Let's start drafting 19 yr olds for the pros. These kids need(& deserve) a little time to grow.
  9. Yeah, it's a fair argument. Also a shame that JB has to take heat for that controversial 3 mill, Lu-fiasco. Can only speak for myself. As a fan, I'm more comfortable with Tree at 3 yrs/9 mill, than perhaps 4 or 5 of our vet contracts(when they were initiated, that is). I simply really like this kid, & think he's precisely what the lineup calls for. Lastly, hated how WD handled him..amongst many other gaffes I'd lay at WillieD's feet. To give this kid a good shot/fair deal seems right, after all that unexplainable mayhem.
  10. Say you get that 1 yr/2 mill & he noticeably outperforms Myers? Then when you have to sign EP & QH, you've also got this D $ imbalance. Myers will be exposed, & Nik needs a shoehorn to fit his hit. The 2 or 3 yr, 3 mill $ risk, is better than the 6 mill dollar dice rolls we've taken with UFA's. To me, the Myers gamble should mean we have to let CT seek his fortunes elsewhere. We take THAT hit for the gamble on this player. If there's one slight criticism I have for this current regime, it's that they've committed too big a %(total team AAV) to guys in the late summer/autumn of their careers. You've gotta trust more early to mid-20's talent, to either sink or swim.
  11. Haven't paid attn to this. Media need to drum up interest/hearsay right now, to justify their daily bread. Simplicity: JB has been head-honcho, presiding over the past 6 drafts. It's been our best 6 yr run of drafting in franch-history. Must be top-5 in the league over that time period. Don't think I'd trade those 6 yrs of picks with any other franchise's 6 yr stash(2014-2019 selections). Not only do I love the talent; but they seem winning personalities with plenty character. Whoever was responsible( 1 guy, 2 or 3, whole FO-team) for this run, hopefully we can pay up & keep it running. No egos boys..just keep this draft batting % for at least 5 more yrs, eh?!
  12. Can we no longer live in the(Feb/Mar storybook) past, or are these two outcomes still theoretically possible?
  13. Relatively older team, that'll likely benefit from the long break. Got some size & good D-men. Fiala had a strong season, & Greenway would prob be a beast in PO-hockey. Would be a challenging match-up. Think we're better between the pipes.
  14. Man the Smythe Div(Heck Campbell Conf) had some crappy 'tending in the 80's. Coilers scorers got a free pass.
  15. It'll work out, Jan. League darlings like TML & TBay have bigger cap-conundrums, so the league will come up with a way outa' this crunch.
  16. Did we somehow LOSE the JT Miller deal?!

Looking at the trade thread on that other site, their Neg Nellies apparently want it portrayed as such.

The mental gymnastics they perform to downgrade JB's absolute larceny, is both astounding & ludicrous.

Over there, it seems there is ZERO appreciation for what I felt was a pretty entertaining season from our guys.

But then consider a guy like Taylor Hall will prob get 8, 9 mill, on the UFA market.

The next 3 yrs, JTM could very well outproduce Hall!

His contract is almost comparable to a superstar kid on 3 yrs of ELC(w/bonuses)

    3. Herberts Vasiljevs

      Herberts Vasiljevs

Probably the worst human being I've regrettably met in my lifetime so far is an HF poster. They are destructive to no end.

    4. Where's Wellwood

I'd say Tampa actually ended up losing the trade, considering they traded our first round pick to NJ for Blake Coleman

  17. Predicting big Nik gets a 3 x 3 mill deal to stay in Vancouver. You don't trade away 260 lb Dmen who can skate. JB saw firsthand the effect it had on the BroonGoon fortunes. Prob stop watching if they let this kid get away..amazing potential. Time to get bold: let younger assets get more games on the blueline, during seasonal bumps & bruises. Tan-man is awesome, so let him get his big deal out east. Class guy, but no slapshot & can't punish fwds. Stecher can be pkg'd with other assets, for the right return. Unless he accepts a bargain AAV. Give Benn some decent time on the rh d-side. Myers, NT, Benn, Rafferty, & sign a cheap UFA perhaps? Worst case scenario?..One more rough yr. Big deal, at least we'd have our 1st rounder. We neeed size on the rhd..we'll have the guys who can dance/fly(QH, JR in time) on the other side.
  18. How often do 18 yo's have an immediate impact in the bigs? Perhaps 2 or 3 cases every decade? The draft is fun, & it's understandable almost every puck fan eagerly awaits the moment.. but this is a great time to shift to a 19 yr old event.
  19. ^Above deal doesn't include Louie. I'd imagined the league grants Utopian-buyouts.
  20. In a perfect world, each team is given a summer compliance-buyout: LouiE for us Sign Big Nik. Then... To OTT: Baertschi, Roussel(or Ferland), Stecher, 2021 1st(maybe top-5 protected?) Van gets: Colin White, Jaros or Lajoie(AHL-D), 2020 2nd(they have a mess of'em)
  21. Do a deal with them at the draft(next page)...
  22. No telling where society is headed with all these random acts of kindness...
  23. Deal I've suggested prev, is w/Ottawa. On HF today, even saw one of their posters suggesting acquiring Baertschi. There are many moving parts here. Basically, they need a #1 C(or 2) in their system. Everyone knows they'll get a shot(or 2!) at some top talent, this draft. Will it be Byfield, or maybe Stutzle? After draft, some vet fwds would prob be useful for that org Then they might wanna move Colin White(option for a cheap 'under 26' buyout, if he didn't rediscover his excellent 21 yr form..had a bad season, injuries). Only have to pay 1/3rd his AAV, over twice the seasons. OTT & Van are excellent matches for a big summer deal! Opposite needs/assets. I owner who'll spend; one that dumpster-dives. - They have a surplus of talented youth with ELC's; we have a stash of front-loaded, vets w/character, to help shepherd kids - They have excess picks. We could use a few. - We've done biz before(recently; Burrows, Nilsson, etc.)
