Reg S, PO's, Draft.. Dump It All For 2020

True the legalities would have to be attended to. If the NHLPA & BOG stood in agreement, I'd imagine the league, st networks & lawyers could draw up some new guidelines. -

Fair enough. As for traded picks, they all get shifted fwd one yr accordingly. 2021, 2022, 2023 all extra picks kept. -
Reg S, PO's, Draft.. Dump It All For 2020

Ottawa, Detroit & others will gnash their teeth. They want the draft order as it's sizing up. Sorry. I'd say play out next season, then determine order by combining(winning % perhaps?) the two seasons for determined draft rankings. Perhaps only give top-3 chances to the bottom 7 or 8 teams(a type of compromise). Prob the order will wind up similar, at any rate. -
Prob not a popular opinion, but I'll throw it out there, just the same. Reg Season & PO's: Think we gotta "Spanish Flu 1917" this baby. Hockey in the summer just ain't right. Whoever wins, it'll prob always be seen as a SC tainted by this incredibly unusual scenario. I'm sure the athletes would try..but empty buildings? C'mon, this wouldn't be right. 2020 Draft: I'd read the opinion some wks ago(forget where..maybe HF?), about shifting the whole concept towards now drafting 19 yo's. This makes a lot of sense. Next yr, we'd simply have the same class to keep tabs on. From here on, just keep drafting kids from the 19th bday. Lots of these kids have been rushed/hurt over the yrs. 1 more yr to mentally/physically develop seems mighty sensible & practical. Also, be easier to insert kids straight to farm teams(not back to jr's), a few months after draft. Steamline the process, so it's clear-cut, & fairly straightforward. Why do we have to rush 18 yr olds to such a degree? Lame is the argument.."Well, that's the way it's always been!" There's a unique opportunity now to shift this whole youth-impetus(pressure) 1 yr elder. At the very least, I hope the league will consider & discuss such a bold change. ************************ There are a couple other issues here(TDL deals; teams w/extra picks; bottm-dwellers on draft order; etc.), we'll see if this has any legs...

Indeed..& don't we know it!

Hate to say it..but for FIVE decades(!) that's not exactly a glittering RhD side. Heck, we'd never had a D like Quinn, for eternity. So both sides are pretty modest. But yeah..good compilation.

Spent almost past 2 decades in cycling shorts. Chamois(soft pad for undercarriage) makes one look like yer sportin' a sorta black diaper. Love cycling garb, but it's usually ultra-colourful.. for safety of course. Most Pearl Izumi gear lasts decades, it's so well made. As for sweat pants, I'd always choose jeans, cargo, khakis..whatever? They just look sloppy to me(outdoor pj's)..but live & let live I s'pose?

[Discussion] Where will Mikko Lehtonen Land?

KHL team allows this kid to sashay out the door(1 yr remaining on contract)? Bet there's a juicy, under-the-table kickback, to grease the wheels of commerce. -
NHL Draft to remain in June (Proposed)
Nuxfanabroad replied to aGENT's topic in General Hockey Discussion
Is it better to kick the can down the road? Should Corona continue, this could interfere with all leagues for the 2019-20 season, affecting the development of all the 2019 class. OTOH, for the 2020 draft class, teams would have little recent numbers/data to know which ones to pick. Higher probability of some larcenous draft steals(potentially) with next draft, should this societal nightmare continue. -

Was it '78 when Lanny scored gm 7 OT & the Fleas upset the NYI? Was a good series. Beating the Lames in 94 was so sweet

So Harvard is talking about only online classes from next Fall(coming semester). Wonder if this might further encourage JR to get his pro career rolling?

Lordee, that's a nice goal(end-to-end) several posts^ up page! If this kid can go beyond whatever Madden eventually becomes, we leave the 2020 TDL relatively unscathed. So we've amassed a tidy pool of prospects..here comes the kicker. The team will need the wisdom to know which ones to barter/flip, & which ones to bank on As our main team becomes stronger/deeper, it increases the likelihood that each ascending ELC-youth will be given a nice opportunity to excel. Currently the Avs & Ning seem to be in that sort of scenario.

Hamhuis & Tan-man should be in there by now.

Yes, of course. It's an extreme case to compare with. But if you ran comparisons with about 15, 20 teams(top-40) for say the past 40, 50 yrs, it'd be interesting to see how many franchises unearthed higher percentages of talent from either draft/deals. Say the ratio between the two. I suspect we'd be one of the lowest for draft batting %

Maybe they signed him(an extra yr; cheaper AAV) knowing he needed time to heal fully/completely? Tell him to claim headaches, if there was any early uncertainty. Bingo, gives LTIR space, & insurance covers most of the 1st season. By sticking their neck out to such a degree(helping a guy with a young family) they get a committed soldier for the last 3 seasons. Worst case is he never gets back to feeling 100%, & they LTIR/insurance-cover all the way to 2024.

After a quick scan of these top-40, appears half of them arrived via trade. Historically, trade-returns have been a helluva' lot more favourable to this franchise, compared with draft picks. I'd bet the Habs(for example) top-40 would be composed of 70-80% of their own drafted assets.

From 2014's barren shelves, to what we have today. Looks like a textbook-rebuild to me.

I'd be fine with 5 yrs x 3 mill. Treat this kid with integrity now. Make him feel at home. He'll be a massive warrior for the team.
