  1. 2 or 3 yrs back, recall being in a surly mood, after the boys had lost a key game. Wrote a limerick that now appears apropos: Black plague arrived upon wing of Black Swan Black mood commenced, from a dark, dreary dawn Black cat crossin' path Black mind lost to wrath Blackout at the shock - checkmate from black pawn
  2. Thank you. Decades of slimy Gov't/media practice, & how could the populace have any faith? Orwell warned us.
  3. Pretty women out walkin' with gorillas down my street

From Japan, I'm dreamin' while my coffee goes cold

    Look over there>

    Where?!

There's a lady that I used to knowww

She's married now or engaged or sumthin' so I am told...

Is she really goin' OUUUT with him?! Is she really gonna' take him home tonite?!...

  4. Oh heck, sure..it's time to PANICCCCC!!!!
  5. Shogun is so awesome. & anyone who has time for novels, Clavell's Asian Saga is a damn fine read. Shogun Taipan King Rat Noble House & some characters(or descendants) pop up in diff countries at interesting moments, to weave things together...
  6. Wonder if the KHL might one day PASS the NHL? I'm not sure the(or shall I say, us) hoi polloi can fully grasp what's goin down here. The system will probably crash, pretty soon. When they are INJECTing trillions weekly into the banks/markets, & it's not moving the needle..well my friends, the party's over. As I'd heard an expert amusingly say, "The black swans are falling from the sky, as if they were made by BOEING!" We just cannot comprehend(nor accept) this transpiring reality. - We've all witnessed/lived through about 6 or 7 decades of the globally privileged, maximizing their wealth/tech/clout. Decade over decade gains. We become lured into believing it lasts forever. - The past few decades have been largely fueled by cheap debt(WELCOME to Fantasy Island!) - The cheap oil(as in, easy to obtain) is mostly yesteryear. Soon it gets very costly..either in currency, alliances or environmental-excess. - The west can no longer BULLY the non-compliant. Military supremacy is now a myth. - As all of this becomes increasingly & universally accepted, expect currencies to resemble land mines(buried, or tripped off) Both Russia & China purport to hold one HELLUVAlotta' Gold. 20,000 tonnes in the case of China. Apparently the US hasn't shown/proven their gold holdings for decades. Also hear China is working on/visualizing a crypto-yuan that WILL be gold-backed. Prob they & Russia will be setting the economic rules. I'd started wondering 2 or 3 yrs back, whether true professional player loyalty resides in pursuit of Lord Stanley's silver, or rather, chasing the most sexy currency(& lots of it) that they can get their grimy meathooks on. I suspect we might soon find out.
  7. I'm really proud of this team, & appreciate the wonderful entertainment they served up(for this old fan, way out across the pond) for 70+ games(dating back to Sept). This virus is bigger than most of us can fathom. There are no easy answers here, so we'll all be reduced to(simple, good ol') hope for the best. As for the team, they've played an engaging, entertaining style almost every night. Their guys(2 especially) were going through some pretty tough family/personal duress; & I'd say the whole group bonded/were damn tight, & played their hardest for each other. In all these players, not only do y'see talent, but I'd say there are some very admirable character traits/qualities for the public to clearly witness. The drafted youth(here & on the way) are a level we've never had before. Thanks to JB for putting a nice group together; & to Travis Green for trying his best to get utmost performance. IF the season were to end here, I'd deem it a success. Let's all hope it doesn't. Peace & good luck to all you Canucks-backers! :^)
  8. Only silver lining? We're not still in 1st place. Imagine if there were no Marky injury, & we'd kept on rolling? We'd feel like the Expos in that cxl'd season(1990's?) where they were rolling big-time. Sorry, just woke up(haven't scrolled yet) to hear this lousy NHL news. Maybe folks have already posted^ similar sentiments?
  9. Was singin' that to the Missus, yesterday(egads, 2 great minds eh?) My version was: Wh, wh wh, WHYYYY Corona?! edit: Ooh our lil' Petey one & Huggy's young Why y'gotta pop up this time Corona?! etc...
  10. I bet players are gonna take a serious haircut over the next 14 mos. Even wonder if they'll be making serious revisions to the CBA? For example, allow a few compliance buyouts for teams drowning with lousy contracts. BOG & NHLPA will have a lot to discuss/haggle over...
  11. March 11..12th, (here in Japan) On returning home, heard news of NBA season kaiboshed. Looks like this Corona-pandemic will be devastating to many sectors(or everyone?!) of the general economy. Those recent 84-88 mill cap-estimates are slumber-dreams while sleeping on Fantasy Isle, at this point. Whenever this nightmare ends, when they start it up again, wouldn't be surprised if they have to make major CBA adjustments/alterations. As markets crash(so too will currency?) we might come out the other side with a completely different/new economic reality. Don't think many folks can appreciate how profoundly upturned everything will be. Some serious dominoes will be rolling over the coming months/yrs...
  12. Got a LOT more patience/understanding for Shorty. Think he does things like that, to suspend the(obv bogus!) illusion of impartiality. Everyone knows he has his fav 'Nucker moments tattooed all over his chubby person! :^)
  13. Yes, it's awesome. Then we get an imaginary parade, where you party like you're on the main float(at the RioCarnival), filled with supermodels that love only YOU!
  14. Which IS precisely why you end up with a******s like Patterson tweeting about 49 shots the next day! Manage the PP's..GUESS what'll freeken'happen to the play/shot totals?!
  15. This is the crux of it now. It's NOT the team with the most elite talent. But the most (talent : reasonable$) that wins it all. I bet Jake would sign one of those Poile/Scissons type deals..giving up AAV for nice term/trade protection. Size, speed & a local who loves it here. That's a valuable asset. Toffoli SIGNED would be an epic return for a 2nd & recent 3rd. Brock is a super kid & damn fine young man..but he'd bring a Helluva' return!
  16. If they make the PO's, sign him before the season's up. If he'll take a deal similar to Bo's, JT's(or even Brock's shorter term).
  17. The flak that JB received in nabbing Miller for a PO-protected 1st. Four yrs remaining, a little over 5 mill cap. Yet the Isles roll the dice on JG Pageau(only protection top-3, lotto cond); & might have egg on their face, only 2 mos later! Even signed him to a 30 mill deal.
  18. Yeah, that WAS a barn-burner. Very proud of the boys tonight. WTG Canucks! edit: Gotta also say, those goalposts were killin' me. Kudos to them not getting down from that lousy luck.
  19. This feels misleading, & is pretty d*mn frustrating. The info should've been clarified 100%, whether NT is eligible for play in the 2019-20 campaign. This is an important asset, who many fans were really enthusiastic about. There's some fan(that other site) claiming with certainty, that he'll be dealt at the draft. The uncertainty lends itself to any theory/notion having legs. He's just the kind of player this franchise desperately needs. I'll be mightyp*ssed if they louse this up.
