  1. Reminds me of that court scene wall poster the team put out in the early 90's!(they were all in costume)
  2. All good pts, SP. But then we wonder where VP & KL will come in? Within the cap paradigm, IF your team is rising(oodles of young talent), I'd argue it's really wise to recycle 1 or 2 high profile pieces into more high picks(keeping the ELC conveyor belt rolling like a cheap sushi joint).
  3. Thanks..was a little lazy, but wanted to post something of this sort. Your last sentence especially catches the gist.
  4. Liked what we saw from Gaudette yesterday. Thought he was in a bit of a lull, in recent weeks. When him & Jake get rolling, they seem like pretty good linemates. Down the road, like to see a bigger body on that line's LW.
  5. Worked with this bloke's cousin, back in the late-80's. Heard some funny tales(Cape Breton'ers, thru & thru I was told) Very glad we've stuck with Green up to here. A truckload more intelligence to utilize.
  6. Ottawa/Melnyk LOVE non-performing cap hit, that is LTIR'ed/ or front-ended salary, already paid. This is based upon recent history, right up to today. If insurance covers a big slice, that is. Until they get a downtown arena, imagine they'll operate in similar fashion. Van:Ferland(if he goes for retirement), & LouiE. Is almost 10 mill cap hit. Take back the Colin White contract. Buy it out, summer 2021 for 820k x 8 yrs With drafting 2 high end C's(probably in June), they'll want to dump White's 24,000,000 $ commitment. We might even add a decent vet to above deal, & perhaps take back a 2nd? For example, Pearson or Roussel type, where we retain a %(preferably a 1 yr left contract)
  7. Listening to Zep's "10 Yrs Gone" instead of anthem. Need a new tradition...
  8. Nothing comes for free. Just existing in that part of the globe, must feel a nasty high tax(creep) on the soul.
  9. Precisely what they'll have to do, soon. They can add picks in so many creative ways, the team could be rebuilt mighty quickly. Dump stuff..add goodies. EG: SJ : Burns AND Timo Meier OTT: Bobby Ryan & the NYL 1st, maybe throw in a 2nd(if feeling charitable) If Melnyk sold to a proper owner(with a wallet), this team could be awesome in 2 yrs.
  10. Is there a momentum occurring now, before we all clearly savour/appreciate it? Suspect there is. Suppose in 2018 we had an extra 1st, which we used on a Wahlstrom/Boquist type..would that & the 2nd have nabbed Toffoli? Likely so, but we'll never know. We absolutely do know that Madden was enough, probably placing him firmly into the top half of 2018 1st rounders. So you think about that..guy was actually a 3rd rounder. Look how quickly his stock rose. Short answer: All rival GM's are taking note of the excellence in JB's/Brackett's draft table prowess. How many future trades will we continue to extract max value, from the trusted currency of our drafted/developed prospects? Other GM's will want a piece of this action. *******************************Why stop there?************************** Observe the class/appreciation with which the org is bestowing upon our recently retired vets. Look how all media reports are admitting(even if they don't like it) our team is tight, & playing hard for each other. Take note of the close bond between our character vets, & cohesiveness with incoming ELC's(& their subsequent performance). Just as the relative-stock of our prospects is rising, I believe the same effect may 'trickle up' to our vets with a yr/yrs remaining in term. There might be some great opportunities to swap that leadership into more youth/picks, this upcoming draft, or use that rising capital to deal away $$$ & easily get cap-compliant. IF we can have a very solid spring here, we MIGHT be on the verge of a monster, sustainable(in a cap-paradigm..SO difficult to do)powerhouse. In sport, momentum can be such a powerful, overwhelming & appealing force.
  11. Would say the Rags are closer to our current makeup, than they are the Fleas. League Hindquarters wants that market up & runnin.
  12. You're not much of an alien-groupie, if you haven't heard about KEPPENWOLF! eh?
  13. They built it right. Let's do it boys..get this roadie rollin', right off the hop. GCG!!!
  14. Thanks JamesB..but prepare for some hotstovin' on the Big Tree! Headin' out the door, good luck Amigo :^)
  15. Agreed..the guy's a painful Laff-apologist. Will never forget that awesome HNIC doubleheader :^)
  16. Nash just got injured..BJ's have TEN guys out!

Torts should take a page from ol' Roger's book. Next stoppage, look up at the HawkeyGawds & start waving a white towel!

Would Battman fine him for protesting at the Heavens?!

Unbelievable..now with a 'tender out, EBUG is getting ready(in case Korpi goes corpse-mode)

    2. Quantum

      Quantum

Should've traded for Baer when they had the chance earlier today.

and they likely will still make the playoffs :P

  17. Finally a beautiful return on the proceeds of the 2014 crop?! Tanner, Jake, Thatcher & Big Nik could all play a mighty fine role.
  18. I had many questions about a wk & a half back, when originating this thread. JB answered this one by acting quickly. Got his TDL work(mostly) done beforehand, and in so doing, appears to have received pretty darn nice value!
  19. Yes, JB's recent work(from JTM at draft, to TT in Feb) is looking more astute with each passing moment. Really hope we can keep all our key UFA's this summer, by dealing some other contracts for more incoming youth/picks. Fully utilize and/or recycle every asset, until a powerhouse is very real & sustainable. Faith in JB!
  20. It's ballsy. So many armchair GM-warriors discuss scorching the earth, after knocking all bldgs down. Well, these guys DID it. Precisely the moment the league has shifted(hardest ever, I would say), towards an emphasis on youth. This dying demand for worthy ELC's, necessitated by yrs of incompetent GM's overpaying aging vets/UFA's, not realizing the pendulum would soon swing. I doubt the Sens did this as some masterplan. It occurred due to good ol' mean & cheap frugality. But the timing is perfect :^)
  21. D & D is like rollin' the 20-sided dice! Hope we still got lots of hit pts...
