  1. So they shouldn't worry(overly) about market hang-ups. It simply takes good salesmanship. You can tell just watching(on TV) a game in Mtl..the fans know the game, better than any other market. What Ottawa did(burn it down, sell the old drama queens) was bloody smart. The Pacc/Suzuki & Domi deals were sharp. Don't go half-way. Youth sells more in this league today, than perhaps any time in a Century of NHL past. Habs should aggressively & unashamedly pivot in that direction.
  2. Maybe they're spoiled? They've got 24 banners. Roy came through for them(in spades) twice. Like the Leafs, their devoted fanbase generates a whack of revenue. Owners/FOffice should exploit that, take on some clunkers, & try to build a young powerhouse. A devoted fanbase is a huge ingred/element. It's one advantage a Cdn market can hold(in building a strong team), vs many of their US counterparts. Cash, backing & patience, make it pretty hard to eff up
  3. I'd contend that Quebec City has a far greater grievance. The league knew what they were doing here..& they'll prob do it again when Ottawa is on the cusp of contending. As the cap climbs towards 90 mill, 2 % won't be such a big deal. Mtl should aggressively take on a few clunker contracts, & expedite a rebuild(with accompanying picks, prospects). They are well-positioned to reboot this thing quickly(ala' JB) over 2 or 3 seasons, into a young, fast & sizeable crew.
  4. It's why they get the 4th OA kid. I agree it's a longshot, but both teams could benefit here.
  5. The diseased Dawgs gave up a late 2nd tally to the Caps. Pull for WASH to beat on those Pac Div Mutts.
  6. Give you a hint..even Meatloaf sang about it!(freeken' fractions, mind you)
  7. His tongue will be flappin' more(excuses galore) than an aging porn star!
  8. Heard Grubby is banged up. Avs would be smart to pursue Price..a history-repeat. Don't like the Avs, but it would be a bold stroke. CP deserves a shot at a Cup. Avs are also one of the few contenders that can accomodate(cap wise) a costly 'tender. Habs SHOULD try to crash out, & land a top pick. Byram hugely gets a rebuild rolling. Mtl: Price(retain 2 mill x 6 yrs) COL: Kadri & Grubby(both hurt), Bowen Byram
  9. Burke is an insider, league-lackey. Also buddy of Parros, I'm sure.
  10. None of us know where that magical threshold sits. There's no question they'd LOVE to promote John Madden's son, in that mediocre market. So where's the number? 3, 4..5 mill?! How much of next yr's cap-commitment would they take on, to grease these trade wheels? It's certainly a worthwhile question for Van's hierarchy to mull over
  11. GoodGawd MacLean gets on the nerves... That weasely little voice The sympathetic, mother's tone w/injury updates Lame witticisms & puns The lil(I'm praying) gestures, as the camera zooms in. F***off with that hands together pose, you freeken ninny! & your rant when they punted your cohort-clown? If the guy had a shred of dignity, he wouldn't have tried his mealy mouthed crap, to extract himself. They run him 'round the country, to report on whatever's obscure. Wish some local would pound the crap outa' him! Wouldn't bat an eyelash if this F***ing scum were run over by a dbl decker bus! Really don't like this trash. Here's one Van fan that ain't forgivin/forgettin his petty, underhanded BS!
  12. Have them also take Baer, & it looks even better
  13. A little history unfolding...

With 2 more shots, Carey Price will have faced 20,000 for Habbies.(1st intermission now)

Quite the number, to hold a .918 career %

  14. Randomly was looking at Carey Price's stats: career-19,990 shots faced 4 more shots vs Stars, & he'll prob be the first to see 20k for the Habbies. Or did Roy do that? edit: Roy couldn't have. Only there for a decade
  15. Don't like adding the unpredictability of Kane's off-ice antics, with our young bunch. Further, give the eastern media plenty reason to hate-on our squad, as they love to do
  16. When they move ANOTHER Cdn team of stars to the F***ingUS..I'll be done watching this crap show & yeah, prob will happen w/OTT. The ***hole owner's a useful idiot for such a scheme.
  17. Well presented, realistic & solid deals. skeptic's take: SJ: First, doubt they'd like to help out an old rival. Secondly, suspect they'll receive stronger offers, esp with the current increase in injuries around league. NJ: For taking the Baer dump, I'd imagine they'd want a better prospect than Lockwood(Likely Lind, Woo type)..but who knows w/these things? Suspect #2 is easier to swing than #1. For our trajectory/objectives, would say these are nice work. If I were HockeyGaud for a day, would push the button on both!
  18. I'm skeptical that they can swing this. After committing big to OEL, Keller & others, suspect they may be bluffing. Also Hall wants to be in the PO's. Aside from the power of $$$, could imagine a reluctance from his side to buy what they're selling. That market has never been able to get it together. Also imagine solid offers will come from teams like Bos, Col & perhaps TBay.
  19. Hypothetical scenario: leading to TDL, 'Yotes play Caps, Isles, Stars, Blues & Tbay. They're sliding out badly(only won 3 of last 15!) Say they keep losing, with these tough opponents listed. Then they know Taylor Hall won't be staying, & decide to recoup losses, as best they can. Put him on the market again. With NJ retaining 50%, he's only on books for 3,000,000 $alary, & UFA at season's end. Chayka calls JB, & tries to pitch Hall for: Van: Pearson, OJ, Lind, 2021 2nd(cond, becomes a 1st, if we re-sign him) Would any CDC'er accept this? Would anyone counter the offer, with another?
  20. The specific player is of lesser importance here. Mainly I'm wondering do we focus 100% emphasis upon this season's run? Or do we partially look ahead, with player additions & cap calculations?
  21. It's a general question, where I'd hope some more knowledgeable(& detail-oriented) posters might chime in w/ their insights. First, gonna say expecting Gent Jimbo to stay fairly conservative, & try to roll with the lineup that's gotten us to this pretty solid point. That's basically observation/expectation; not intended as criticism. But folks might like to project the wk, or toss in the old 2 cents worth... What if he's offered a deal that adds picks(let's say a 2nd & 3rd, as random suggestion); yet it both damages our spring 2020 depth, but also alleviates our cap-crunch for next season's lineup? Again randomly, but send out names like Sutter and Stecher types, taking back 2020-expiring contracts of lesser, depth players(+ aforementioned picks) In point form: 1- Do we overstate TDL dealing risk? An argument can be made that the 2020 crop is so good, the worst-case(missing PO's), might benefit the roster even more, long term. Do you worry about gifting a top pick(to TBay) next season, becoming an unnecessary distraction? A-Personally, I wouldn't, because JTM has been SO damn good! 2- With an ED approaching(spring 2021), a team could get further benefit, from making earlier, proactive moves. 3- We shift some late-season, depth-responsibility to younger bottom-6 types(eg: Bailey, Big Mac, as opposed to established names), should more injuries surface. 4- IF JB knows NT is returning, could we risk selling a D, if the return at deadline is appreciably boosted a notch(or 2)? 5- IF deadline prices are low, it might be a good time to buy one desirable piece(eg: we sell 3 or 4 assets in such a deal)..simply because this deadline is cheaper, relative to past seasons. I'd like to include this option, although it runs contrary to the main points here. 6- Any specific deadline approach/emphasis you'd like to see the team employ?
  22. If he clears, wouldn't mind Baer & Stecher for Bogopogo. Could be monster-marketing in the interior. IF he gets hurt again, got Rafferty, & others who can switch to the rhD side.
  23. Scenario: Markstrom is obstinate on either $/term, that Van doesn't accept. NYI's call with an offer: Markstrom, Sutter, Stecher, 2020 4th Return: Greiss, Ryan Pulock, Fritz(ahl C), 2020 2nd, 2021 2nd(cond on JM signing) It's about 10 mill outgoing, & half that number incoming. Cap is much easier to manage next season. 2020-21, Myers, Tryamkin, Pulock & Rafferty are a very impressive RH-D Sutter's Dad starred in Long Isle, & they need fwds(apparently). Let them take the gamble on his health, that has burned us continuously. Greiss only helps this season, to hopefully nail down a PO-spot. Basically TD is the man. If TG likes it here, & signs cheaply to back up, that's cool Would anyone accept this offer from NYI?
  24. That looks pretty darn sweet..nice one, OP. I'd made a prop for Greenway/1st, for Brock before. I'd suggest Minny should hold 1.5-2 mill of Dubie's cap hit to make numbers jive. Definitely take Greenway here. We need that size, & ELC, low $ hit
  25. At 58 gp & 69 pts, we're currently atop the Cdn 7 ..not too shabby
