  1. Van: 51 gp & 62 pts

    Torts' crew: ditto

This seems a little amusing/ironic to me. As the proceeds of his poor 2014 result, & subsequent drafted class are finally starting to really pay dividends in Canuckland.

Wouldn't it be something if these two unexpectedly met in the Finals?! :^)

& about Torts' Jackets..I'm increasingly getting a Larry Robinson vibe, watching the smooth, dominant Seth Jones control play. They've got a few beauty pieces..prob my fav US franchise.(Green Bay Packer, small market feel)

  2. A little research on HFOttawa page has revealed a GEM/diamond plan to dance around our coming cap-conundrum. They have a player who was so promising, they signed for big $$$, & now he has spiraled. Because he's so young, his buyout-hit is a sweet song. Colin White. Signed 4.75 AAV(back loaded) for 5 more seasons. That's 20+ mill that EMelnyk would looove to dump. Due to his youth, you can stretch his buyout over EIGHT(or nine?) yrs for a meagre 817 k cap hit Van: LouiE AND Baertschi(pay Loui's bonus, he's only 5,000,000 owed/2 seasons, for a 6 mill AAV - Melnyk Special!) OTT: White, I'd argue we should get a cond 2021 2nd/3rd, for taking on an EXTRA(approx) 15,000,000 $ real $ commitment! Important point: You can ride this cheap buyout option for TWO more seasons(only 817 k), then it goes up to about 1.8 mill. If we bought him out after next season, you immediately open up 5 mill for the important 2021-22 season, where EP & QH need new deals. White: 2018-19 - 71 gp..41 pts(impressive, got a 6 yr doozy deal) 2019-20: 43 gp ..only 14 lousy pts! (rumour is he's struggling with similar injury to BSutter, groin/hernia) ********************************************* Lastly, OTT has a slew of young C's, so they can easily fill this bloke's spot. Also prob two top-10 picks this 2020(fwd heavy) draft. Bet they'd JUMP to move this deal.
  3. Just hope such accusations are absolutely credible with incontrovertible evidence. A dirty league like this could trump up garbage about any team(esp Cdn ones!), & no antics they pull should surprise!
  4. Weave this thread around another nearby one(Melnyk, Crazy Like A Fox?), & you got a rope strong enough to pull up the Titanic. There's a shift in superstar $ contracts/youth emphasis occurring now, & Thank (Hockey) Gawds JB hasn't over-committed, & is perfectly poised to shape our future roster/contracts accordingly! Teams like Doug Wilson & the dirty Snarks are(at least) 5 Frackin' yrs, in arrears!
  5. You were looking at the moment..where things stood, based upon recency-bias. You need to observe where things are heading! In a game of chess such thinking gets SMOKED! GM'ing takes vision.
  6. Don't know who their scouts are, but they likely deserve a very large portion of credit(on the assumption this rebuild takes flight to the degree I expect)..also don't know how much sway they hold over Dorion's call, at the podium. Assuming they've got some mighty competent scouts. At this point in time, they sit real pretty. Perhaps 20 teams are almost cap-maxed, & the true gold currency nowadays is rising ELC youth. So I hope(cheering Sens as my Eastern fav) they do 1 of 2, or both things, with the momentum they currently hold: 1- Use this primo opportunity for Melnyk to SELL to another CDN OWNER. Get his profit, & skedaddle 2- Force the Ottawa PTB to build a downtown rink, to house a rising juggernaut. Either that, or sell to Quebec, Hamilton..Hell, anywhere that's NOT the States! (but watch sneaky Bettman use Melnyk as the shoddy pretext to move this future powerhouse south of the border). It'll be the F***ing Nordiques pattern all over again!
  7. Now I'm hoping MF, Leivo & Graovac can all get healthy pdq. With this dirty league pulling out the rigged deck, we'll likely need as much depth as we can muster.
  8. They were likely workin hand in glove, step by step. I'd rather give 8 yr/64 to a young, rising Chabot, than 92 mill to a wobbly ankled pirate! All the points from the original post hold Plenty of truth/water, this very moment.
  9. Now some folks will dbl back their opinions & belatedly give credit to Dorion/Melnyk. Just remember I told yas' last freeken March(takin' heat in doing so)! The Sens have been FUN to watch this yr. In a few yrs they'll be a powerhouse!
  10. Started a thread last spring stating he^ & Dorion played the rebuild cards smartly. Don't like the guy, but that franchise is in the perfect state to either get a downtown rink, or sell.
  11. To wit, I think they need to ponder the last two sentences. Cheating bast*rds(that sweep, was it 2012 or '13?). Never forgive them/the reffs for that ultra-bogus, fixed series. Wanna see them as demoralized/dishevelled as the dirty streets of downtown San Fran. Screw'em!
  12. Kane(retain 1 millish) & LaBanc for Tartar & some youth like Poehling; maybe Habs add a 2nd? Seems Habs always need size. They recycle a piece to try & upgrade/lengthen the decent Pacc deal. Sharks are like an alchie hitting rock bottom. They need to realize, admit, then clear out the nasty baggage. PO's in 2026! :^)
  13. Might they call up Bailey?

Diff type of player, than Motte..but he sure seems to have earned a look.

    Schaller-Beagle-Sutter

is prob on tap for the Isles.

    1. Ghostsof1915

      Ghostsof1915

Don't we need a winger if Motte's out?

      Kole Lind?

    2. Chickenspear

      Chickenspear

I'd expect Big Mac to get another call, due to waiver ineligibility, and injury on the 4th line. but does Beags get the day off? Seems to be a walking bruise after the last couple games. Mac-Sutter-Schaller?

    3. Chickenspear

      Chickenspear

@Nuxfanabroad looks like we were both right...

  14. & a Hallejujah! is in order. Some pages back we all agreed to stop making this Utica page/topic an HF hate-fest..but you've aptly described what goes on there. Almost 5 decades of uneven drafting..Finally we get a GM who's a drafting-guru, & they want to discredit that fact? They'll do anything to diminish JB's success in building this rising (potential) western beast. Basically HFhaters are as misleading, evasive, cynical & disingenuous as contemporary MSM. Went there for team info updates, & mos back, just had to stop.
  15. Virtually every poster here knew KB3 would be a natural in media. Authenticity, irony & spontaneity all wrapped up in a pretty confident bloke. Glad he's takin' it on, but they'd better PAY$$$ the man!
  16. There are a million possible permutations. You might add another piece(if required) to land the right 1st rounder. Or add an unwanted piece like Eriksson, in order to open cap. Something like: Van: Demko & Loui(retain 1 mill perhaps?) NJ: Coleman, & 2nd/3rd whatever? If the kid keeps playing like last night, Jim's phone will be ringing.
  17. Was that Dec, Keefe-resuscitation, just a dead-cat bounce?! Now slid back again(10th in Conf)..supposedly(media wisdom/insight) the issues are 'tending & immaturity. Key guys gotta pull their pants up, & work in Both zones!
  18. So many surprisingly weak teams this season..like Nashville for instance. Sellers want to get ahead of the market. Due to a lack of cap space/bubble PO-contenders, prices to sell will be historically low this TDL. A guy like Hall got flipped early is more evidence. NYRags, Minny, Nash, OTT, SJ, ANA, maybe Buff soon..lots of these teams prob wanna dump underperforming cap hit. Especially as 2020 is being touted as a very nice crop.
  19. Canes lose Hamilton yesterday. IF they offered that Laffs' 1st for Tanev, I'd give that a serious mulling. Using the Hogtown 1st(if it were in the teens, it's 2020 pick) with this deep draft would be sweet schadenfreude. Doubt Van would chance something like this however...
  20. Kearns was a modest, classy bloke as well. Glad that his boy made the bigs..even a short stay.
  21. Maybe Price & Petry, if the Hamilton injury is long term?
  22. Remembering the Kobe Quake 25 yrs ago today. 6434 lost their lives in this tragedy.
  23. This theory gains credence with the Shero firing. Subban acquisition..& maybe even Hall sale? Also Stone & Pacc couldn't keep Gallant from the Humpty Dumpster-Fall.
