2 mos prior to JB's draft deal, had proposed we get him. My proposal thread was 5 pcs with Tanev going to TBay - that would've prob worked out nicely, as well. This guy has been absolute MONEY! & all for a paltry AAV. Over the past few seasons(not counting ELC's) likely one of the best contracts goin', league-wide. His hometown has been hit hard too(train derailment/environmental devastation in East Palestine, Ohio). Hope we see the best of JTM going fwd.

Don't see the point of following this sport any more, if Van can't even keep most of their drafted superstars. So rare just drafting serious talent to begin with. Could be like Bure all over again. Had stated a few yrs back, it's become a 2 (or 3?) tiered system. Feels like most Cdn squads are like some(elite US franch) f***ing feeder-system, wedged somewheres between NHL & AHL level. The obvious question... Is it high time to put 5-10 lbs weights on every skater's boots, to slow the whole damned game down? Relative speed is fine & dandy; overall speed of game leads to concussions & nasty board crashes. Slow it all down. Hockey was GREAT in the 70's & 80's. Oh, ban the F***ing butterfly too.
