Before folks start looking thoughtfully at bridges & ledges, thought I'd throw this out there. A bit of duality, might be the ticket. Either 1, they turn it 'round, or 2, they're not ready yet.
I still contend that either way, we'll be fine. I still love the character youth we've acquired, & fully back our beloved 'Nuckers.
1-turn it round to me simply implies they make the PO's. Thus the trade commitment with Tbay is completed. That's all fine, & today might sit around 40, 50%..who knows?
Prob wouldn't go far yet, anyhow..but the exp would be great for our youth. Both making it in, & playing in mid, late April/perhaps early May? Fine & dandy
2-not ready yet There are a number of reasons I'm fully embracing this possibility too. I'll list them here, for simplicity's sake
- The two Lou/Lu's have botched the cap. If we slide back(next 60 games), contracts should be simple for the next two yrs. Presumably EP & QH won't be able to demand astronomical deals. We'd prob move on from Schall, Jacob, Tan-man..or re-sign them reasonably. It'll encourage the team to keep inserting exciting ELC youth, every Fall.
- We're able to be more aggressive from late Dec-TDL in letting older assets go. It's a great time to collect more picks, or cheaper players/prospects for team & farm. There's a nice period here, to start really shaping/molding the future roster, as an ED looms about 15, 16 mos later. Be proactive & get out ahead of it all.
- The 2020 draft is apparently loaded. There's a nice final(hopefully) high pick to add in with our brilliant young core. No Screaming team positional/size-deficiency now, so JB can just sit back & choose whoever he feels is the brightest young talent available.
***So the 2021 pick to Tbay?***
Haters will try to turn this into 14 mos of ranting Hell. I'll state now, they can all go there themselves. Irrespective of whatever selection slot they wind up with, we made this call(I'm glad we did)..from my own pov, a fan should fully accept the choice. For these two yrs & going fwd, Miller will likely be a valuable vet contributor(signed reasonably), helping our youth excel on & off the ice.
In the end my friends I'm saying don't get too wound up about every game & streak. Sit back & simply enjoy the games for what they are..entertainment. Don't carry excessive expectations for our classy, young cast. This season should play out so we come out on the winning-end, whichever way it goes.
