  1. Ferraro: "The puck is STUCK in the Leaves' net, & it's quite hard for the reffs to dig it out." This sequence that just happened vs Broon-goons(late, losing again) is strangely symbolic.
  2. Some HFdirtbag has been whining for about 2 or 3 seasons Oooohh..mm, wahh, oohh, OHHComets got no centers..waaahhhh..JB..oohh..umm..waaaahhhhh Can't even read that freeken page anymore. Used to be a good place to keep up on the latest. & of course this team with "NO CENTERS!" is now about 10 & 5. That in a town that finally got a Friggen team, could refurbish their rink, etc... HF is such a whining cesspool. Smells like an outhouse.
  3. Why do people worry?..the Huge ace up our sleeve(for 2nd half) is our own potent, PP Petrus Palmu
  4. At least Jim has a decent lookin' bird takin' care of biz in the kitchen!
  5. Should I ignore scary sounding threads?..whoopsadaisy!
  6. They seem a little light, fragile recently. The 2nd half ain't too kind to such teams. But then what if you add a healthy(& fresh) Motte, Roussel, Beagle, & maybe MacEwen, instead of LouiE, Schaller & perhaps Baer? It lays the foundation for the top 2 lines playing as they should. The depth in bodies could help create a strong 2nd half.
  7. Your insights are always worth a gander..but I'd almost guarantee hard checks(1 gets taken out) within a period. Need Tryamkin on the line. Hopefully sell Tanev near TDL(+ prospect?) & try to retrieve that 1st back.
  8. Great to hear ol'Tommy! Ditto for all his comments..he pretty much summed it up to a T.
  9. Still angry he brought grass into the room..sources have told me THIS is what made Tree leave.
  10. POTD! edit: & good luck to this fine D vet. Hate hearing these stories..even if it's a big rival
  11. Damn, that's a sexy comparable! If he becomes this type of player..look out Western Conf. Our next wave of prospects seems to feature a lot of kids with attitude/chutzpah..but talent to back it up.
  12. Y'remember Larry & Willy(CFOX) saying Ron was a crotch-watcher? Been a while..must've been early 90's? Those guys were a good laugh.
  13. OT is becoming boring. More of a cat & mouse thing.

Overcoached, with minimzing risk the name of the game.

Is there a rule change they can implement to ensure OT stays watchable?

good game of keep away until there is a scoring chance and then all hell breaks loose

the anticipation for the latter is pretty fun

I agree, the whole doubling in and out game is not fun. When you enter the zone it should be continued to be played there until its cleared or blown dead.

Or how about..No player changes if you have possession in your own zone(or some variation of this)?

Force teams to change at inconvenient times. Or perhaps circles & below? You have to incentivize the opponent to force the defending/regrouping team with persistent pressure.

  14. Well, just don't call him a "bustaroo" & hurt Q's feelins'..k?
  15. Yes, I think you're correct. It's a bit of a vague memory, & was a while back.
  16. None of this can really be disputed..to me, the question I highlighted(in bold) is a way to simply look ahead. Eg: at 40 games, say we only had 35 -37 pts. They're cooked. If it's 50, we're probably in like Flynn. It's likely somewhere within that range, of course. So over the relative-leisure of winter holidays, that number will also have bearing on JB's trade decisions; from Jan1st , until TDL in later Feb. With the ongoing cap pinch, we'll have to be decisive in Jan/Feb, as well as season-end. It's compelling that these next 6 wks(on top of interest/excitement in each, individual tilt) should play such a big part in making those calls. In Aug/Sept they decided to carry LOTS of extra, sizeable, grinding depth. That decision is looking pretty sharp, about now.
  17. Whoa..impressive. They look so much better with Hyman in their lineup. Amazing how much 1 key piece can help. Have to admit, cheering for 'dem Laffs vs the childish NYI crowd. They gotta let go of the Tavares-obsession. Starting to come across as petty bullying.
  18. There was an in-game profile of him(& his fam in WR). Remember his Dad(big dude)..wasn't he in accounting, they said? How hard can it be, to protect as much as possible, (& try to legally minimize taxes)? A lot of these pros prob feel entitled to higher performing investments(perhaps peers are boasting of such exploits?), & they get suckered into poor investments. Later they might find justice(& sympathy) are equally hard to track down. He seems like a decent bloke..but the investment world is cutthroat by nature.
  19. Your own back yard might have an 800 lb Gorilla(of a GM) flinging crap in various directions. I heard some HFriffraff suggesting Skinner may be one of the league's worst deals. Then a quick capfriendly glance shows a slew of FA's to sign, with expenditures already in the top-5, overall. Not looking too tidy.
  20. There IS a silver lining in all of this, however. Ludicrous rulings(or contract rule changes) have forced Van to adapt. I think chasing pricey FA's(after apocalypse of two Lu's) is something they've allowed other teams to indulge in. Mostly just be an interested observer. & fortunately they've been drafting top-notch. A succession of ELC's will probably enable the franchise to pass through all this shyte, relatively unscathed. Sometimes a long tunnel of crap can lead to Shawshank endings...
