  1. Why worry about a 2021 1st?..accept the decision. In the 2018 & '19 drafts, they landed 4-6 kids that could wind up having such value. We've got lots of great young talent; just need the patience as they fit this jigsaw together.
  2. I'm going back to this above^ way of thinking..The longer view. To watch the team with heightened aspirations is too hard on the ticker! When our start was surprisingly strong, we all might have begun to expect too much. At the end of the day, landing a 2020 1st(if they miss PO's) is fine consolation. The keys are youth, & moving on(might take a yr or two) from a cap-crunch.
  3. We can't do this, Jan. We've been waiting forever to have a young D-man with such abilities. Also sends the wrong message to our College youth that we have to sign, quite soon. edit: scratch this proposal I made for goaltenders. Just heard the bad news for Jacob's Dad.
  4. This is rather telling, Jimmy. I remember(Sept?) you'd put up a pretty valiant defense on the case of mystery-Loui. Seems it's becoming increasingly clear for all of us. Which lends itself to philosophical-debate: Can one's INVISIBILITY become even easier to see?! I don't think folks are stickin pins in LouiVoodoo..but everyone's aware of the 81.5 mill, bang-for-buck existentialism. There's just no way to appreciate an aging albatross, too old/sick to even get aloft. & yeah..I'm hankerin' for the Big Mac! He could be a 2nd half beaut..or even sooner?
  5. Mostly agree Deb..haven't been driving for a longgg time, so I didn't mind being stuck in Traffic! You're right, that title was too inviting for us old prog rockers. But this whole cap-conundrum IS frustrating, & Loui's the obvious fly in the ointment. Old Jimbo can't shake it on the dance floor, until he Houdinis outa' that cap-straitjacket, eh? It's really holding us back. Why should fans be punished for some random mistake, 3 or 4 yrs back? Cdn teams are PRESSURED to cough up more, to UFA-compete, in relation to Florida, or desert locales. So as I've complained yrs back, there SHOULD be a mechanism for teams to buy out(perhaps 1?) a contract at the end of each season. League would NEVER do that..why? B/c the Cdn teams would benefit more(due to above^)
  6. If he ever pulled an OJ Simpson..it might go to 6,000 pages.
  7. There are a number of interesting questions here. If JM has any more games like Chi/Wash, you'd think it cuts $$/term off what Van may have offered.
  8. Prob will long be remembered in Jersey for that stupid penalty in LA Finals
  9. & wild speculation abounds that this unappreciative, flukey 'tender is a raging covert narcissist! Developing story at 9 pm on Hannity!
  10. Did Trev have a main squeeze, whose defence failed vs Pavel's artistry? There must be a tale that's not been told?..
  11. Gaudette & Virtanen are quite different in their style of play. They both have some nice attributes, & extra incentive to climb the roster. With today's lineup, you can switch them at times. Good to see these young guys given some prime opportunities. Not gonna worry about the Baer matter, at this early point in season. Just hope we can deal a coupla' fwds this yr, for extra picks & cap. GCG!!!
  12. & all it took was 40 seconds! :^) I'm trying to recreate your AM radio experience...
  13. It's what they say about fools & their $ : They were lucky meeting up in the first place!
  14. All fun & games until the privileged sports figure feels he's existing in some DePalma/Scorcese flick.
  15. Sources have leaked it's Poolparty & GagMe for Kackow & another whacko,,HUGE news
  16. He's just gotta stay cool..relax Right ship, stay on that track Try to back-check, don't fight Unleash his big twig on a scorin' night Til he's ready(ready Alfy) Crazy lil' thing 'bout puck(bass)
  17. Some ol'codger: These young pro athletes are making TOO damned much money! The "progressive" apologist: Well, it's Entertainment..y'see what movie people make? & if that's what the market wants to bear. Then later on, we hear stories like this thread, & that same kinda bloke will say to me: "Well, what do you EXPECT when these young desirable people become millionaires?!" & so the irony should be disregarded?! Years roll by & we hear half of Hollyweird is raped(the other half suspects.."addicts" nudge, wink), & the sporting superheroes are junkies w/ the spoon up their nose. I b*tched about some pitcher(name of a fish?) getting 400 mill to chuck a ball, about a yr back. Yeah, I'm often that old codger. But I've also heard these lame counter-arguments accepting the status quo. Just got tired of these usual debates, as the addicted masses(middle class) get economically-obliterated. Sooner or later(hopefully :^) this economic pain will trickle UP to the overpaid gladiators. In light of all this, had accepted it was all out of whack, some decades back. Boycotted most western "entertainment" as an overpaid ruse, populated by hotshot, privileged 20-somethings. The media gorge on their scraps, if they properly explain away their lifestyles. Emphasize what great societal "donors/contributors" they are, on Mother Theresa scale. ***********************************Pro hockey was the last one I just couldn't kick************************************** In general(having played a bit) I could relate to these small town athletes. They(mostly) seem pretty normal. As well, there's a truly significant portion of youth dedicated to acquiring the requisite skills..even if one is naturally gifted. That, & the accompanying physical danger to one's health, seems to exceed the personal sacrifices in the other big sports. Not paid as much either(relative to big-3), so I somewhat tolerated the whole shake-down. In the end, guess we pick our poison. But the accompanying(mostly useless) & ever-fawning & expanding media-hordes make the whole process seem rather excessive. Fine..give'em their millions. Not sure I wanna' hear another ****ing thing about what they choose to do with it.
  18. Him & Stevie Nicks(the ol' boot-story) coulda' shared some nice tail/tale(s?), back then.
  19. My sentiments as well, Alf. Can Clark turn ALL our 'tenders into Hasek 2.0s? Pretty pls
  20. So using one's position as justification, means we wind up bowing down to dictators. Like OMG, imagine if Mike Keenan were in charge of BOLIVIA!?
  21. Late at night, park the car Stake yer place where the best games are.... Ohhh oh, catch that buzz 'Nucks are the drug, I'm thinkin' of Ohhh oh, can't'cha see? 'Nucks are the drug for me (catchy sax) NUCKS are the DRUUUUUUGGGGGGG
