  1. This two wk break might be good for the kid. Get recharged & ready for a solid 2nd half.
  2. Female colour commentators...

Sorry, call it a controversial view. or sexist..whatever you want to accuse me of?

But I'm not on board, & will prob never get accustomed to that.(for NHL games, that is)

It ain't pc..& I'm prob just old fashioned. In truth, miss a lot of the great hockey voices from the past.

Going fwd, I'd prefer men always do this gig..flame away!

I lost any respect I had for Rotten Ronnie when he chose to use  HNIC as a platform to criminally slander Alex Burrows.

    3. Tortorella's Rant

      Tortorella's Rant

It is not controversial to point out men are inherently better than women at some things, and vice versa..

@Tortorella's Rant but Trudeau thinks its controversial, hence the Trudeau anthem

  3. Good on Millsy!!!

Ties the Beezer for most W's by a Yank 'tender, in big comeback vs Caps.

Like to see RM hit 400+ victories. Good guy.

  4. Finally. Time for a new shade of lip-stick.
  5. So now Reaves can run around like an uncaged thug? F***ing league is like a NYC crime family syndicate.
  6. Wow..this place is turning toxic.

#riggeddeckleague allows our players to be run over.

Should respect our guys..they take a health risk, just wearing a Van jersey in this dirty ****ing league.

Green's a good coach. Choosing to SUPPORT our squad...GCG!

Acceptance! & if we finish low...

One more yr of a top prospect, at the home draft. Either way, it's a W/W(stop whining bandwagonners).

  7. A decent game for the stealth-renewal. Hate how Vegas was gifted such a strong team, by the #riggeddeckleague.
  8. Scouts at Ottawa tilt...

    TBay, Dallas, Nash

some heavy hitters sending extra scouts. Are Stone or Duchene soon to be moved? With the new arena fading, I bet they dump some UFA's soon.

    1. Honeydew

      Honeydew

wouldn't be surprised if both were on their way out.

  9. Don't they carry this guy through, for the purpose of expansion-fodder?
  10. @SabreFan1 Thinking of you & this thread, SF...I'd turned on a youtube Nov 27th interview w/Bill Holter(Mad Max World Possible As Unpayable Debt-Bubble Pops), by Greg Hunter, of USA Watchdog channel. An excellent, sobering interview on the global ramifications. As sparks of war keep flaring up(this wk Ukraine issues; China anger, etc...), one can't help but wonder how closely these matters are linked? Strongly recommended. Bill Holter is a compelling plainspeak analyst, who explains all the issues clearly for us dullard-layfolk. edit: Also wanted to say only about halfway through..but man, some of the quotes. Hunter mentions his partner(Jim Sinclair's) nugget: "The 'art of the deal', leads now to the science of bankruptcy". Gotta penchant for gallow's humour?.. Scroll down & glimpse some of the Utube comments. Worthwhile
  11. EP might have some company.

This Brady Tkachuk kid is very impressive. 9 goals in only 14 games? Whoa..& he backs down from no one.

    Sens picked a gem.

    2. Odd.

      Odd.

I wanted him so bad, although i Did expect him to be gone by the time we drafted, I was pretty upset.

But Q.Hughes definitely helped with the loss. Man would he look good by Pettersson

    3. Drive-By Body Pierce

      Drive-By Body Pierce

That's my prediction for the Calder trophy race.

Someone get this kid an Uber.

  12. Just for kix(GM cap wedged firmly on my noggin)... Deal 1 : Gardiner..punted, anywhere. Return, a 2nd 2019; & conditional(performance based) 2020 pick(gotta get away from THAT last playoff memory!) Deal 2: Nylander to RAGS. Return: Brady Skjei & a 2020 2nd, perhaps another pick?(value unsure?) Deal 3: Matthews, Lindholm & Zaitsev StLoo: RoRly??, Thomas, Parayko last deal! (deal 4): Grundstrom, TO 2019 1st, NYR 2nd to... Vancouver, for Christopher Tanev! :^0 Hyman - Tavares - Marner Marleau - ROR - Kapanen Johnson - Kadri - Brown Ennis - Gauthier - Leivo 13th- Robert Thomas! ^Let's be honest, Cdn hockey fans would really get behind a home-grown, fwd group like that. Potent C depth, & only 1 real contract-signing to worry about. Reilly - Tanev Skjei - Parayko Dermott - Ozhighanov mobile D with some size & offense. Lillegren still to come - With only Marner to sign, that cast could be kept intact for many yrs. Still 2 2019 2nds, & a top prospect(Thomas) added. I think this roster could topple TBay, or Washington.
  13. Hate to admit..but look how well they're faring without the guy. Can't compare it to say(early Lemieux) cos Pitt had nothing besides him(mid-80's). Now look at Gretz when Edmonton were deeper. Dealt him, AND still won another Cup! The 80's are a poor comparable(with no cap), but it could be argued TO could set up their future, while staying competitive & cap-friendly...
  14. Oh yeah, & they've got some decent pieces to offer. The darn Fleas are in a good spot. They bring back that hometown star(Tavares), no cost to obtain. To me, that makes a fwd expendable. Imagine the StLoo deal, where they add two more star fwds(Ontario boys), to add with names like Marner & Kadri. They can probably convince all them kids to take a lower cap hit, & keep it intact. Ekblad would be the same thing. I'm basically arguing here that dealing AM AND Nylander, to make a monster-deep, D-line could be a mighty smart move.
  15. That para likely sounds like a dream-existence to so many youth today. Treasure of memories, I'll bet.
  16. Could be, RB. Truth is, these top kids get dealt so rarely(in ELC yrs) you have to rewind decades(like Lindros deal) to find comparables. Then it's apple/orange, with no cap back then. I'll also confess to watching far fewer Flea games than most hockey fans might. Even still, gotta confess that Marner is one Helluva' player! Can't see how they'll shoehorn all these riches into the glass slipper, thus dreamt up this thread! :^)
  17. Too risky to trade such a player within division. Would have to go west.
  18. It's interesting..I recall reading an article alluding to this main point of comparison you've referenced. Yet it's always incomplete for us to simplify comparisons, then label them A or B(pick 1!). It may sound harsh, but back in the day, families were more apt to have 3, 4, or 5 kids..parents would point to the door saying, "git out there & play!" You were less worried about the unseen. You contrast that with today's "helicopter parents" & their 1 or 2 lil' emperors..some feel their whole world wrapped up in the fate of 1 child. & yeah..people are hyper-aware of any dangers. Food for thought..but many sociologist/psychologist/other experts fail to attribute changing times/mores as much as they should.
  19. Then the Fleas deal Gardiner, simply to dump cap(perhaps land a 2nd &/or 3rd). IF the StLoo deal, they should deal Nylander too! I think a top team, with a stellar top-4 D is easier to maintain under the cap. Your top 4 D control the ice for 48 mins out of 60. If I were GM with such options, I'd try to transfer lots of your elite talent to the back end.
  20. This is actually quite a nice comparable, for many reasons. Matthews & Lindros didn't have the same reluctance(market belong to)..but maybe similar on-ice talent.
  21. You'd have to think the league would love this deal.
  22. I'm no fan of the Maple Leaves..but some of us like to play armchair GM. So I ask the question..Would it be wise to deal this guy now(Everest peak value)? Consider: - Their coming cap-crunch, & Matthews has had injuries - Tavares has meshed so well with Marner - Matthews potential value in US markets - Ability to transfer their fwd wealth, into D-man depth - Still can add Nylander, in addition to haul from Matthews trade - They'll have to PAY AM 11 or 12 mill, next summer TOR: Matthews, 1 more player(Holl, Leivo, A Johnsson or Lindholm..basically a 1 mill $ contract) Trade ideas for 3 US teams..all out west, to have the guy out of Conf ARIZ: OEL, Keller, Crouse, 2019 2nd r pick, 2020 1st r pick*(conditional on Matthews health. eg 60 gp next season) StL: ROR(1 mill retained), Parayko, Robert Thomas ...AAV: about 13 mill cap hit(StLouis takes Hainsey, for cap-consideration) ANA: Rakell, Josh Manson, Sam Steel, 2020 1st R pick ..AAV: about 9 mill What about these values? Which deal is best?
