  1. You may be right, B..the guys on the radio(post-game) said it seemed an accidental car crash. Hard to see these things on my lil' pc screen. I jumped on this opportunity to refresh my conspiratorial(2 rulebooks!) thread..as I hope it'll trickle consistently, then burst into a WATERGATE!-level Intl fiasco..just playing my part in pursuit of fame, $ & perhaps a Nobel? :^) Anywhoo..always seems our boys on the receiving end of these fender-benders...
  2. Sure hope Stecher's okay. Another highway side-swipe unpunished?..Manning's a dirty punk.
  3. Man..maybe HillarityClinton is a secret partner, & it's poisoned the well? Who knows? Last 5 yrs the parent team has been in only 1 PO round. Hell, they've had a few PO cracks, haven't they?(1 run to finals too)
  4. Yeah..had the pleasure. Back in the day you could get a decent run-down(analysis, that is) of what was going on. They didn't even have a Frackin'team for yrs..now they've had a sold-out bldg, to cheer on the game. This enabled them to get new development/complex(?..think their city is going with)..yet a few posters are incessantly whining now, not getting every outcome they demand/are entitled to(?!). Filed under: no good deed goes unpunished!
  5. They may's well sign a few more PTO types(like last season..it actually worked too)..with the injuries this yr, we'll prob be ravaging their lineup some more.
  6. HFBoards is such toxic tripe!

SomewannabeGM there is claiming the Canucks' rebuild hasn't even started yet!

Haven't we been ranked top-5 for prospects already?

I'm glad it's there so those people don't infest these boards with that bile.  The team's fun to watch again and it's because of the kids that Benning drafted and traded for.

I haven't read anything there in ages because it's an insufferable gong show 9/10 of the time.  I've seen posters there (Canucks fans ) rooting against prospects succeeding so that it will reflect poorly on the team/management.  Those are not the views of a rational fan. There are definitely  people there who strongly identify as "anti-management " to the point where that is their primary allegiance.  It must be difficult for those people to reconcile that with the emergence of young talent and the growth that comes with it.  I wonder what their rationale will be to screech about  things when it really  turns around.  The Brandon Prust trade still ?

Ohh..seems a big one is JB never acquiring picks(only dealing them)! Therefore, no rebuild.

Completely ignore the nice picks we've made, apparently?

  7. Oooh, also Beware! the drivel from lackey media. Who'll portray the Gagner demotion, like a fatherless family fallin thru the cracks in a daytime soap opera... "& we don't neeed the ladies, cryin' cos the stories saddd, uh huh Cos' The Rocky Mtn way, it's better than the way we hadddd...yeah, yeah, yeah" -Joe Walsh
  8. ! Now they video review our 2:00 minors!!
  9. Edler injury a possible plus?

After mulling it a bit, I wonder??

    - If team was destined to drop(pick 2019 high) this seems to ensure that, eh?

    - MDZ & Pouliot seem write-offs. But their existence ensures young hopefuls aren't embarrassed/can develop 1 more yr in Utica. So that 4 mill(expiring) isn't truly wasted

    - gives us a chance to see if BHutt is actually worth investing hopes/some term

    - We know QH & OJ should be in next yr.

-If Hutton falls apart, we can offer Edler a coupla' more yrs(reasonably)

-Finally, if Edler returns(playing well again) & the team rebounds a bit. Then we should demand more(TDL) if he's willing..& it'll be justifiable too.

It might just be. It highlights his value to the hockey team and gives young guys a chance to play. Not to mention Del Zotto gets to wear an A and boost his value for a potential deadline deal as a #7. I would take a 4th for Disaster Del Zotto right now.

    3. luckylager

      luckylager

Not sure there's a team out there that would part with a 4th for DelZaster....

He's been a healthy scratch off a very weak defensive squad

    4. Coconuts

      Coconuts

I think Edler will be back regardless of how the year plays out tbh, we're not gonna get someone of his caliber for a better price via UFA or trade. If he wants to be here management probably figures something out.

I expected us to be in the running for a top 10 pick again this season, injuries to our top guys makes that more likely but I'm by no means wishing for our guys to get or stay hurt.

  10. So NOTHING done about Baertschi's concussion? Looks like another example to throw into the mix.
  11. Wondering the same? Maybe they felt if they gave him the K, he'd commit to some LT deal? Then they find out he still wants to return to NA?..Bah, whatever? Time will tell.
  12. Don't risk EP this season.

Send him back to Sweden. This league doesn't care if our young stars get illegally injured. Media treat it as humour.

Next yr he & QH finish 1-2 in ROY race.

Screw it..tank hard with extra patience.

Maybe they could lock Ron McLean in there with him, just to really sell it.

      McLean's such a weasel

      DADDYROCK

Ok lets talk about that old goof DON CHERRY,

COACHES CORNER WELL S%^&.  I could have coached that Bobby Orr Bruins team or a team like that Gretzky Oilers team and had the same results. You don't have to be a great coach to have wins with powerhouse teams like that.

That being said, that Don and Ron show is getting to be pathetic,if it isn't Toronto or the Bruins they rarely have anything good to say and I would much rather have skilled players in the league(the Crosbys and McDavids and Ovechkins) than those goons Grapes loves too much.

You don't see too many of those idiots playing on a Team Canada, because they don't have enough SKILL.

Of course being that My personnal favorite player was JEAN BELIVEAU, I suppose I see the game differently than those fans of fight hungry dirty players.

    4. Odd.

      Odd.

      have another one

  13. Man, just read about these..y'all should hide in Japan!
  14. Yet an oblivious(seemingly?) reff was standing right there, with no call. Would there be no call if it was a star from a key US market? Is this an honest league? Not in my opinion. So again..IF he gets an even more severe injury, from lousy crap..can we handle/accept that downside, this season? If I were the owner, I'd be mighty pi$$ed with this league's blatant inconsistencies.
  15. I'd prob consider sending EP back to Sweden, to put on 10~15 lbs. (Mgt/Ownership/Player) would all have to discuss(& accept) such a choice, with the clear indication that we want this guy in Canuck colours for his career. This league does nothing to protect it's stars..particularly in a market like Vancouver. The risk here is our young superstar gets another injury, from another illegal play. Two games for a bum like Matheson is a joke, for a deterent. Sincerely hope I'm wrong, but I bet we'll see more cheap shots from mediocre, marginal players. The huge downside of an even bigger injury to our bright young hope, would be a nightmare for the franchise(at this point in time). ********************************************************************** Bet I'll get slagged for posting this..don't care. I haven't had time to scroll all these related threads, but I'm curious if anyone else has a similar view?
  16. Watching Flamers/Rags

This Rittich kid is playing well. His style reminds me of Mike Vernon. Think Cowtown might have a good one here.

The most hilarious part of that goal was the fact they labeled that a "huge" hit. My god is the NHL soft these day.

@Cramarossa Yeah..I had a chuckle at that one too!

@luckylager Glad you heckled him, L2. He shoulda' known the Rockies were the border! :^)

    4. luckylager

      luckylager

Wouldn't say heckled, more like friendly banter.

I actually wanted to have a few beers sitting next to the guy without getting kicked out. The fact we had a few rounds of Jagr  is a great blurry memory.

  17. By the time his contract expires the US petro $ will prob have crashed, & "loyal" pro players will probably flock to leagues like Russia's, pursuing other types of gold.
  18. Don't say that. Gotta hope the best for these kids. Get back soon TD.
  19. The Gagner garbage goes on...

Sportsnet lackey Fox now quotes Tavares to imply Van misled the guy with his 3 yr deal. This is a type of tampering!

gagner is a bit of a goof

good luck seeing that career extend beyond the current contract

players talking together openly about team related matters

      is not tampering

surely the nba player huddles in free agency

or even before they are free agents should have made everyone aware of that

a member of a team's brass/management cannot speak about a player who is under the control of another team

if there is even a mild hint that talk interfering with that contact

jb is a fine example of that issue

Someone should tell Tavares that the Leafs were welcome to claim him if they wanted to.

It's just his pride, he was lucky/ driven by $$ in a contract year in CBJ to get the 50pts, most were probably 2nd assists. Everybody else threw him away because he assumes that because all his friends are baller hockey players that he's too.

  20. Van City should announce a parade to properly wind down this thread. Also starting a new team era. Last word in this here 500+ page turner(NYTimes book review dubbed, "a riveting, rollicking ride!") should go to Deb...
  21. Does sarcasm indicate a philosophical-chasm? Perhaps we should spell it sarcHasm?
  22. This is too toxic, & bad on the blood pressure.

We got that WWF crap that everyone seems to have time for. On the wrong end, of course.

    It's not entertaining..just frustrating.

    Hope the kid's okay.

    Take care, gang.

i'm not sure the players even saw that hit. the puck was heading back out of the florida's zone. i know the guys aren't afraid to retaliate, so i think they just assumed that petter got body checked. that is legal. i'ld be more interested to hear, what the players saw and why they didn't react? we react by what we see. they react by what they see. we at least should hear their side of the story.

  23. Everone's piling on our guys. Tired of it. They prob don't even know what's a penalty anymore. See all kinds of runs taken at our guys(especially key young ones), & the reffs do sweet F*** all. It must be frustrating as Hell, & the players have some sympathy from this corner, at least. You can't beat TWO F***ing rulebooks. **************************************************************** As for Matheson, I trust he'll get his. It's a long season folks. The FA's WILL fight hard, & have to be patient to even this score. Don't turn on this team.
  24. Have we seen any nasty takedowns(like Matheson's crap) on TO's younger stars? Just more of this garbage, from the rigged league...
