  1. I see the Comets movin to Newfoundland, for lots of gritty travel, & so players can learn a new language/customs.
  2. CDC Site-glitch

When I refresh(FORUMS) page, recent topics(on right) pop up, that are a few days old. Anyone else noticing this? Are we stuck in a time-warp?

Started a rollicking thread about this matter a few days back(thanks to L2 & CD for injecting fun, & Rosie)..but the Mawds locked the door!

Is this a thriving conspiracy?! Stay tuned...

  3. Pastrnak...

HATE them Broon-goons..but man, guy just scored a beauty.

How did 20+ teams miss this guy?!

Agreed, that was a siick goal.

Thanks for your poetry as well. Hope you've weathered the worst of the storms.

  4. Actually was thinking of two examples(albeit, almost pre-cap times)..Pitt & Washington. The former was on the verge of bankruptcy. They both HAD Jags, as a common point. Both these teams stripped it down to bare-bones..& wouldn't you know it, wind up drafting beauts with high picks(Crosby/Malks; OV/Backstrom). The LT benefits look like a decade-long, bust-to-boom cycle. Then was thinking rev sharing might even give further reason for scorching the earth..whilst also admitting, reading small print(CBA type papers)will NEVER be a pasttime I'll ever be accused of.
  5. Ticky-tack

    (describing lame calls)

I've heard TVwankers utter this tripe. What happened to English? Was a pretty nice lingua franca we had goin there.

    -Marginal

    -questionable..Hell even

    iffy, would suffice

Pbp'ers who utilize this type of drivel should be punished in the town square!

"Ticky-tack" is hardly a new adjective in the hockey vernacular.  I remember hearing it used since I was a boy in the early 70s and I suspect it was old even back then, so it probably qualifies as a "traditional" term.

...Back in MY day(crusty old curmudgeon said) hockey announcers called a better game...

  6. Thanks RB, for addressing my curiosity, & simultaneously alleviating my insomnia :^) enlightening! I bought you a beer, & will be calling Sweden to ensure you're short-listed for the Nobel cause...
  7. Here's a topic that gets sooo little fanfare & media-analysis. League/lackey media are quiet as church mice on the subject, aren't they? So you run a successful franchise(a good season)..& make 30/20/10,000,000 profit. How much goes to the empty barn, sunbelt types? - Does the % vary, depending upon your profit?(^as above sentence implies) - Is there incentive for owners to increase expenses(like a write-off) to avert the NHL pickpockets? Why not sink more of the team profits into management & farm, for example? - Or conversely, if in Vancouver's present situation(strong market; fairly weak, rebuilding team) why not cut costs as much as possible, simultaneously bringing ticket prices down to appease the local masses? Keep the incoming/outgoing $ on par, obviously more modest, for them rebuilding yrs. If there are any fans with accounting insights/interest, I'd enjoy analysis of this(seemingly taboo) subject...
  8. Very good reffing in tonite's Cane game. Nice to see.
  9. 3 concussions/Matt Murray

"Sullivan said the team(Pens) is focused on Murray's HEALTH, & NOT the number of concussions that he has suffered."

As if the two are separable?

Btw, are all these gt injuries from all teams driving the net?

    1. Alflives

      Alflives

Man, three concussions is a lot, especially since they (supposedly) get worse with each one.  Maybe if a guy runs into a goalie, for any reason, it should be an automatic penalty or something?

Our own TD seemed to get hurt when Flamer Backlund ran into him. It could be contagion, Alfer

I feel for him, a concussion isn't something I'd wish upon anyone

  10. Ferland's in Cane-county(Heavensta'Betsy!)..which rulebook shall be employed tomorrahh? For inquirin' minds...
  11. I heard early Graves showed this result!
  12. It's funny..I was imagining a heated thread-debate as I typed that sentence. For me it's not only the current roster, & looking forwards, but also the history of the team. Growing up in the Lower Rainland 70's & 80's, they were mostly doormats; yet there were still great memories & game-experiences(Pac Coliseum, etc...)
  13. Yes, I've been increasingly suspecting this is the case. The hatred, rivalries & dirty pool likely just drum up eyeballs/interest anyhow. At the end of the day, you like it enough to keep up on things, or may's well get another hobby/interest to pass the time. This is why I speak of(acceptance) in relation to them beloved 'Nuckers. Since 1970, their very existence has added to BC's value/experience, making it a better place than it already is. If the Canucks were no longer in this league, I'd prob stop following it. Other fun things to do...
  14. But in a way, I wonder if it might be linked? Maybe some Cdn markets rolled over(for the league hierarchy)? Maybe some were so huge they didn't give a crap about the necc kickbacks & obvious scams? Then maybe our owners kept a stone face & asked, "Are you ****ers serious?" To every tilted venture the league 'recommended'? Look at their treatment of Balsillie, who wanted to move the Mangy Desert Mutts to a viable market. They damnnear waterboarded the bloke! Hamilton, Quebec & Winterpeg. There should easily have been 9 or 10 Cdn markets, with a few added(after lockout) & thriving today. Instead some crappy US markets are simply cash sinkholes, with casual fans who don't know the rules.
  15. Maybe should rename this thread, the "Punching Bag-Read". Almost every post seems to remind of dirty league deals, I'm probably better off to forget! If I were owner, I'd prob keep the cap low/team young('til this revisionist, rewritten contract-rule shyte had passed). I'd bring tix $ way down, so the unwashed masses can bring the whole clan. Just break even, so you can tell the League to ****off when they come looking/groveling to your fan-addicted, Cdn market coffers(for revenue sharing), to siphon a slice to the welfare sunbelt. Just precisely how many Cdn dollars, keep the zombie deadbeat orgs like Panthers going, from Rev sharing? They PROTECT then financial secrets rather closely, eh? As they play these petty $ Games with things like the Lu deal. As a Cdn owner, I wouldn't accept it. Maybe this is what ALL Cdn markets should have done, back in the past? Starve the freakin beast, before it grew too big.
  16. Issue likely isn't about money. But if he retires within next few yrs, we get a nasty cap-penalty. Can't remember precisely but, I think: -retires with 2 yrs left: we lose 4 mill of cap space, x 2 yrs -one yr left: We LOSE 7,000,000 F***ing mill ^I can totally see this happening. After all those US teams had guys saunter off with skin rashes, & border crossing baggage. Just watch, L2! Double standards galore!
  17. I don't know much about their family..been away so long. But what if Bettman/BOG buddies don't really like the Aquas themselves(for whatever reason.. folks at the 1% top are certainly the competitive sort)?..to me, that could explain 99% of the petty, on-ice calls/biases. It appears to start up high, & trickle down. In the 90's, front office was prob arse-kissin the billionaires to get some well-heeled owners. So desperate, con men like Spano could hoodwink'em like a Carnival barker. Owners that wound up in the clink(rigas, I believe?). Well hockey was perfect for this HD, high-tech era, & they couldn't possibly **** it up, for every fan. Along the way, the league has grown it's image/influence/US footprint. Maybe owners that don't "kiss the ring" get the proverbial short end? Now they've got their CBA & dominant US market(they lusted after), they can talk down to owners who don't roll over. It's just one possible theory...
  18. Throw in an adjective, eh? -Randy Mermaids -Voracious Pine Beetles -Pending 'Quake
  19. SP007, I've read online tales of the Leafers interfering(late 60's) as we tried joining the league. Before my time, but look around & you'll prob find that stuff. Some ol' timers here prob know the details well. All we ask as fans of sport is fairness.. a level playing field. Then W, L or draw, people are satisfied. This league has botched it so badly. Nice to see various fans bumping these past reminders. There's been a lotta' hijinks!
  20. So now we need one hundred yr old quotes, to serve as willing lackeys/apologists to BS league-policy? Oh..glad I started this thread, if it helps establish people's clear views on the matter. Let's be up front with our outlooks. Quotes? "If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, or they'll kill you." ~Oscar Wilde
  21. Oh yeah, the series where PP's were like 24-11 favouring the California outfit. I remember a furious Garrison taking a crosscheck to the face, then his reaction was penalized. League of ****ing crooks!
  22. In BC, this *$$h*le should move from A to B like a subterranean mole rat! Sunnofab*tch!
