  1. Had been itchin' to get at that freckled fiend!
  2. Which raises a haunting spectre. Has CDC turned Vancouverites into a Matryoshka doll of various hidden personalities? But man(getting back), how 'bout this EP?! What a pick!!!
  3. Perhaps we should scratch this sudden rash of Hossa proposals? Don't help Hawks
  4. Glad you 'fessed up JM..there were suspicions...
  5. Are any CDC'ers violently-nice folks?..just wonderin?
  6. Any coach worth his salt will tell ya every player's gotta' give 110%, eh? :^)
  7. Lost Sbisa..but then signed a guy like MDZ(balances out). Then nab Leipsic, later in season. Considering what teams like the Ducks, Cats & BJ's lost, this was quite a success.
  8. Btw..it could be argued this 1st expansion draft actually HELPED us gain ground on the higher-ups. Mostly a function of a hollow roster at the time. If we can navigate through the next ED as luckily, it'll be a nice stealthy benefit. Next one, I'm thinking our surplus of ELC's should save our derriere.
  9. This IS the end, my friends. Attack Syria..they're also attacking Russia, China, Iran, etc... Make peace with your maker. Get the house in order. I figured(but couldn't really believe!) they'd be this ****ing stupid!
  10. Buying out Bryz for what..something like 30 mill?! THEN trade Bob to CBJ for a bag of pucks? Can you imagine how the media would have droned on if a Vancouver manager had made such moves? Lyon, Leighton, Emery..I can't begin to guess how many 'tenders they've burned through the past decade. Impressive debacle.
  11. Tanev seems such a natural fit out east. Lots of fast skating, offensive fwds to neutralize..just surprised it hasn't happened by now.
  12. I had Tanev going there(way back when?)..what does your deal look like?
  13. Very much agree..& I'm the hypocrite who likely would've dealt them 2 or 3 yrs back. Watching the twins achieve 1000 pts, & then a graceful exit was very good for the logo/brand. When we all look back yrs later, it'll likely be unanimous the team handled that perfectly.
  14. Yeah, R17. When first started this thread I had it at 80%(roughly 20% each season, for five yrs). I'd often count %'s when finishing a long bike ride, or marathon. Keeps the mind occupied, & I prefer to count when much more than half(say 70+%) is in the rear view! Maybe the 100% will indicate the end of turtle speed(& wimpy) team? I'm hoping future incarnations feature youth, speed & size like the Jets currently boast. They're pretty darn fun to watch!
  15. What we have done(ninja-like) has 100% occurred the 5 yrs between the Bo deal(squeaky Bettman: I haav an annouuncement too mayyke) & this upcoming draft. A painful slog, that is almost complete. Along the way, different faces came & went. Made PO's once. Crazy coaches hired & fired. Saw twins do something no brothers had accomplished. On our 50 yr time continuum, it was relatively typical. The stark contrast is with the 5 yrs preceding this period. So, many snowflakes had meltdowns! :^) ******************Something few mention************************** JB muffed a few earlier deals..but maybe it was necessary? Rightly or wrongly, no one seemed to want to do biz with Gillis. Benning arrives with his 'aw shucks' unpolished drawl, & we probably required the polar opposite of the MG-confident, assertive style. JB did deals with seemingly everyone(rivals, in-division, etc...). He even had to humbly take a public verbal-whining from Bergevin(with tail between legs, head down). He threw in picks to sweeten a few pots. So rival GM's weren't complaining about the guy. In time it appears JB has hit his stride. Imagine he's much less of a pushover in current trade negotiations. He's established himself, & is now likely asserting himself. Furthermore has all that cap opening. As evidenced from last 2 TDL's, he's starting to get payback for earlier whiffs. Now he'll hold the hammer, as more likely the trade-counterpart will be the one in a cap-crunch. So we took a few hits, but now appear trending nicely.
  16. It's a good idea to get out & see the world, before we blow it up!
  17. There are at least 1967 reasons you shouldn't cite the Fleas as rebuild case-studies. A probiscus monkey could have assembled a better roster over the decades!
  18. Orr was better than Gretzky. Could play the game however you pleased.
  19. Are these potshots at Hutton's Wink With namesake perhaps on the brink? If there's a trade Or rumours made Perhaps we could peruse the link?!
  20. Stealthily..ninja-like. They've spent five yrs reforming the franchise future-fortunes. This is the thread where this assertion is clearly, unapologetically stated(circa Oct, 2017). Can't understand why contrarians would hang around? There's lots of negativity likely persisting over at HFBoards(birds of feather, & all that). I don't want them to feel overly lonely... Personally, have really been enjoying observing a revamped, rejigged, renovated, renewed recourse towards a youthful rebuild.
  21. Had to bump this, as it seems the war drums are continuously rolling.
  22. They were RENOVATING(said in Dr Evil voice, with quote fingers goin)..nice hardwood floor, lofty, high-capped ceiling...& a big F***in bay window to take in the seasonal-Sedinery. ooh shag carpets.
  23. After a while it feels some regionally-motivated camps(with perhaps polar-opposite views, simultaneously existing) are just make-work projects to keep these irrelevant hacks & misfits getting a paycheque. As media gets increasingly marginalized and/or obsolete, their jr hs girl-in-hallway gossip gets more shrill & desperate by the day. So pleased I've largely been away from sports media(in Asia) for the past couple decades. It's like going through a few yrs with absolutely no advertising around. I'm sympathetic to the argument that modern society has made sport way too much of an obsession. Petty, lamentable twits & tweets are where it all takes us.
